@@BeFourCMYes, not everyone thinks or learns in exactly the same way. Also, even if such a book doesn’t directly lead to your chess improving but you still enjoyed reading it, can it truly be said to be “useless”?

When I saw the blocking of the f pawn theme I remembered a game from Life and Games of Michael Tal. It‘s probably the first game. And it also has that hinder f5 and the freeing of the black queen motif.

i disagree about magnus. the one thing that is perhaps missing from Carlson's resume is a "Carlsen immortal" precisely because he would far prefer to convert a sacrificial attacking position into a technically winning ending instead of prosecuting the attack to checkmate
