It is quite remarkable how Carlsen got his spark back after "struggeling" in the last couple of tournaments. He makes his wins look so easy, a true hallmark of a world champion!

Right from 2010, many chess fans felt that Carlsen will one day be spoken of as belonging to the echelon inhabited only by Kasparov and Fischer, and this performance is further illustration that those predictions were spot-on. When his career is done and dusted, Shamkir 2019 must find a mention in the highlights. What a performance!

Can anyone explain to me, please: How come that Mr. King's channel has "only" 54k subs compared to agadmator's Chess Channel with 400k subs? Shouldnt it be the othe way around..?

King's analysis is vastly superior, but give agadmator credit. He puts a ton of effort into his videos in terms of researching photos, stories, and presenting daily challenges to his audience, and presents stuff at the level that casual chess players can learn something from. And he does it consistently every day. All that earns subs faster than the occasional analysis that King provides. If King were inclined he could up his production and grow faster too.

Moral of the story- "Never accept Pawn sacrifices from a World Champion". As simple as it gets. Fantastic analysis from Danny as usual. Such dramatic analysis and captivating narrating style. One just doesn't have to see the match. You can feel the tension just listening to Danny!!

Dear Mr King.I have a small suggestion ...There is immense quality in all us videos and analysis..But majority of your videos are late which of course gives an edge to other chess channels irrespective of their quality..It is extremely difficult to resist an analysis of any other KZbinr especially when it's almost immediately after a game..You are underrated but people prefer fast these days..That's the reason your efforts are so underrated...You deserve more views and likes than many out there.Please do consider...... You are like our Dessert.Please be our meal! We want that! _Your Fan!

@VA Hemskin So the comments, let's say in this thread, is any "deeper" than those over at Aga you mean? The question is, why limit yourself? This two channels often analyzes moves/games different, in that way I get an even better insight into to the game in focus. Also, apart from a chance to learn great chess history over at Aga, the various "chess themes" like the on going Capa series, is also nice. And, it helps to have some humor as well. I can only speak for myself, but I don't limit myself to one or two sites to enjoy chess on various levels.

When Carlsen starts playing like this,then I truly feel he is a worthy Kasparovs successor. Those kinds of games and this tournament in general is what separates him from others. He simply has that true legendary edge,and when that inspiration comes to life he is unstoppable force. The only 2 real 2800 GM's,on a brink of 2900

He never got joy from computers. He got joy from over the board chess. I do think he slumped into sadness from the computer analysis. And though I do not think he studied AZ much, I think he has taken to heart how the "human" (though inhuman) way AZ plays - and how it breaks the brute force calculations by sacs for space. The other interesting thing in Carlsen v.2.0 is that he seems to have stopped over-reaching. If harmony was a thing at peak v. 1.0 it is even more so now. Thirdly - his joy with online rapid - and now even "banter-chess" is so clear after the WC match. One can sense the joy being back. And, the curiosity coming back. As if the pure talent is somehow freed again. It reminds me of scientific talents (that I have witnessed a lot). Flying through the lower grads- and getting a depression/lack of motivation during the PhD when one must hunker down and just learn the hard tools. Forever thrown towards oneself. Feeling every bit of creativity being drained from the soul with exams and thesis. Until - suddenly it is freed - the joy coming back - and one can feel inspired and finding creativity back - when the tools of the trade and the talent once again start to work together instead of just being a "memory-bot".

Thank you Daniel for the insightful commentary. It should be noted that at no real time White getting in b4 is advisable (for a few reasons). One, is It runs into c5 by Black, and White could end up with a fractured pawn structure (if he takes on c5) or a cramped Q-side (and excellent B on a7) after Black's c4.

Caruana does not seem like much of a threat to Carlsen anymore. Where Carlsen outperfoms anyone in a superstrong tournament and keeps fighting every game, Caruana recently just managed draws against weaker opposition.

To be honest, Caruana and Karjakin have never played at "Magnus" level. Magnus at his best is simply a cut above every other chess player. Currently, I think that Aronian in peak form is probably the only player that comes even close.

@@zxb995511 I think Ding Liren can be a tough customer for Magnus, as well. He rarely loses and seems to be able to play any type of game at the highest level, also in time scrambles. (Obviously all top grandmasters can play all kinds of positions very well, though not all seem to be as "all-round" as Ding.)

Danny, it looks a lot like Magnus has been studying Alpha Zero to me. He's so willing to sacrifice pawns to gain strategic advantages. This game was reminiscent of an Alpha Zero attack both in terms of accuracy and strategy. He's playing amazing chess. Do you think he's been spending time studying Alpha Zero?

That c5 with c4-Nd3 didn't look so bad at first sight, but Magnus brilliantly refuted the whole scheme with the pin Be3!, which stayed on until the end of the game.

I've noticed the similarity between Carlsen's strategy in this game and AlphaZero's. Particularly advanced "a" and "h" pawns and sacrificing material for a long term pressure and pieces activity.

@@chessever5046 Bobby Fisher wouldnt even come close against this magnus. Give Fischer a computer and 5 years to get prepared on modern theory and maybe he'll be a match against carlsen. Though, I suspect magnus still would crush. There has been no player more precise than Carlsen in the history of chess. Just look at his average chess accuracy.

I invit you, to watch the move 22, game Fischer vs Petrosian game 7, to show well that even Carlsen at his top level cant play it. Carlsen learn from computers, but Fischer is pure genius.

@@chessever5046 Comparison of chess achievement cannot be defined by one game or even one tournament. It has to be sustained for long periods against high calibre opposition. Fischer no doubt had an unbelievable run in the early 70s, but could not sustain it long enough to be placed in the same league as the likes of Kasparov and Magnus.

Carlson is a textbook player, just like the russians back in Bobby Fischer's time. Fischer played such unusual moves that the russians didn't even understand what he was trying to do until it was too late. That's why Spasky lost the title to him. He was just pure genius. Our generation will probably not ever see another Fischer. Bobby is a legend and one of the most imaginative players ever lived on our earth.

Bobby Fischer was man form another planet he was genius. God knows how he saw every made move. Amazing mind. He saw those moves because his brain sees patterns. People think great chess players are so smart most just have a good memory nothing more. (Like many now). There are plenty of GMs who aren't geniuses. He is the best chess player of all time.

Carslen is a beast, very powerfull. But, with all my respects of all the players, we cant find players with high level, like is the episode of 1970th, that was Carlse is the number one. If he was in the era of Fischer, Tal, Kasparov, Spassky, he will be at most top 10. Fischer is the best in all time.
