Great job as usual! I would have also analized 7.Ne5, which appears to me as the most critical answer to Carlen's novelty 6....b5.

In the zugzwang position, probably the best solution would be just sac the queen for the two minor pieces and try to make a fortress, which i think would make Carlsen still working hard, and having in mind that he was tired... who knows

I remember watching this game live and thinking "I can't wait for Daniel to to analize this game because I don't understand anything I'm seeing". The final bit of the game, specially after 41.... Bxb4. was indecipherable. And like always, you deliver nicely.

Great video of a strange game. I find e3 very ugly. It is surprising that a strong GM makes such a weakening move. On the other hand normally Carlsen would win such a position without many problems. But he let Meier nearly of the hook. Until Meiers king started his suicide run.

I would have loved to see Carlsen's face when Kf3 was played, his eyes must have popped out of his head! Bizarre stuff. Beginner chess!

Meier blundered at the end when he took the pawn, and Carlson said he was relieved because his own play in the last half was ‘a mess’ and he was expecting another draw.

Yeah, Carlsen has had the advantage in his games but since he isn't Stockfish, he misses the winning moves in the endgame

Maybe chalk up another half point for Carlsen from the 'psych-out' factor, more than from his brilliance. Instead, if Meier had shown the nerve of Anand, he might have held on for the draw. I expected King would analyze Black's cheeky 6...b5, and why White didn't go for 7 Ne5? We can see that it will result in BLack gaining 2 minor pieces for a Rook but the variations are far from decisive!

Hey Mr. King. Can you please spell the word "Zugzwang" with a long "u"? Just like the "o" in "move " or "moving"? Keep up with the great work and greetings from Germany!

Those queen and knight endgames are the hallmark of chess engines. They love 'em. Kasparov got into trouble with Pentium Genius way back in the 90's with queen and knight.

At 14:30 if Qb3:b4 black promotes and attacks that queen. But Q can escape with check (Qb4-b8+). BUT queen number 3 escapes too (Qd1-d8).

Carlsen is producing masterpiece after masterpiece these days. Extremely instructive how he manages to create an advantage in the early middle game. I would almost certainly go wrong in positions like these with the tricky white knight on b5 threatening all sorts of things.

Extended concentration at GM level is exhausting. Even at club level the 5-round tornado weekend tournaments are extremely tiring. I think mental stamina is one of Magnus's best advantages.

@@arash9878 It is not a given that Carlsen wins all the tournaments he plays. He is enjoying a great run of victories at the moment, but I'd like to remind you that last year was a little different. Do check out my coverage of Biel 2018, for example - you'll find it in the playlists.

@Arash…. look at the numbers... MC videos have so much more views than other players. Look on other channels. What would you do if you want to make some money? MC games naturally attract 2-3 more views than any other player.
@jasondoe2596
@jasondoe2596 5 жыл бұрын
Arash, if there's a video on a Carlsen game "every time you visit" this channel, you probably don't visit it all that often... I think GM King does a great job selecting which games to showcase, and he usually goes for pure chess beauty, unless the result directly influences the tournament results.
