Would really appreciate some more Lasker games, one of the most underrated players of all time for me. Loved this series too, ty Mr King.

You really bring these games to life! I wish I understood chess that well, too!

The lessons of history are lost in politics too - not just chess. Thanks Dan! Brilliant as always!

Bryan Nickoloff, who was big fan of Capa, would casually dismiss any further analysis of positions that achieved a quartet of pawns like this with a hand wave saying "...and Black wins."

But can u ask arbiter if f4 is a move then draw?
@PowerPlayChess

'When I arrived for the start of the adjournment session, a member of the tournament committee came up to me and said: 'Senor Capablanca offers you a draw, if you have sealed 41 f4.' Alas I had sealed another move and so I was obliged to "decline" this offer.' - Kan (quoted from My Great Predecessors, volume 1 by Kasparov).

Cabalanca was a great player, maybe best one!

Lasker was ahead of him in the rankings as a 58 year old. Surely he must be the greatest great then?

Ranking, in any sport, do not always showing power off player or team! I think he was a excellent player, as Lasker was a great chess player. For exempel Bobby Fischer was one greatest player in chess but was not always N 1 in ranking. Have a nice day.

As far as I understood the move Rd3 was sealed, so it was at this time a "Hängepartie" (Sorry, I dont know the english word") As on this time were no computers, has Capablanca worked out this alone ore had he a second, who did this work for Capablanca?
@PowerPlayChess
@PowerPlayChess 7 жыл бұрын
I doubt whether Capablanca had a second. He would have analysed himself.

Yeah, it wasn't a slip; he was talking about Kasparov's analysis, as mentioned by Yuan Song above.

I did not make a mistake. I was quoting from Kasparov's comments on the game in 'My Great Predecessors', volume 1.

The tournament was actually in 1935? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_1935_chess_tournament

Capablanca played in Moscow 1935 and came 4th. In Moscow 1936 he came 1st with 13, ahead of Botvinnik with 12.

Hardly 'back-to-back' - the tournaments were held in Feb/March 1935 and May 1936. Over a year apart.
