Something I appreciate about Charlie's character is he's just so...normal. Adult Swim has all these over-the-top characters but Charlie as a character is funny but feels very grounded. He reacts to situations in a pretty realistic way, most of the time.
@HuckleberryMcRib2 жыл бұрын
Tbf that could be applied to pretty much all the main cast, except Mr. Boss. None of the main 4 really lean towards extremes and because of that they display more realistic personalities than we're used to seeing in contemporary adult cartoons. This is probably my favorite [as] show in a long time, my other favorite is venture bros for the same reason.
@bluecanine33742 жыл бұрын
I think part of it is, whereas other comedic cartoons use the normal guy in a crazy world as a punching bag who only is ever pissed off at the nonsense, Charlie kinda hoes along with it and isn't constantly grumbling or pointing out how weird everything is

I much prefer Smiling Friends tbh, these bizarre and colorful character designs are a lot more... "iconic", one might say
@loganmatt.79122 жыл бұрын
@@samquik I find the humor pretty on par, but I really think Smiling Friend's art style adds a lot to the humor. Like the Renaissance Men just clip clopping away or the three frame smear animations. But I also think Hellbenders could have been great style wise if given the budget that Smiling Friends was. But then again I don't want to pretend I'm some expert lol. But Hellbenders doesn't have ANY of that iconic Shrimp Glow.

I honestly love just looking at everyone’s subtle body language as Charlie chops the tree down. Like Pims flinching as Charlie chops and increasingly tense body language, Alan and Glep looking around awkwardly, the guys noticing that the tree is gonna fall before Charlie does.
