I followed Powerstroke help advice on oil change including the HPOP adding archoil there. Used Rotella T6 and the oil was clean after 1000 miles. Try doing that w/o changing the HPOP. Also fires up super easy on cold mornings. Avoid Lucas oil stabilizer in winter. That stuff turns to grease.

My buddy was having a somewhat similar issue. After using Rotella T6 and adding Archoil, I can report that he has no misfires and fires up smooth as silk in the morning. I haven't as of yet done so to my 2006 F350 but will do so after seeing his results. I personally recommend Archoil to anyone that is having cold start issues with Powerstokes w/ the 6.0l.

ever thought of plugging in the block heater or installing a block heater if not equipped? cause it don't matter how great your injectors are if the inside cylinder temp isn't 170* or something like that.

Well you can't deny that it still started better after the treatment. Some people are just lazy like me and just don't want to. Plus this stuff also does increase fuel mileage a pretty considerable amount.

Dump the Ford and get a cummins. Don't ever use Lucas stabilizer, the oil is great without it.

I’ve driven just about every diesel on the planet. Powerstroke is a great engine and outperforms the Cummings and Isuzu Duramax. All of above can have their issues pending on preventive maintenance and/or operator. Majority of negative issues with all diesel engines comes from people with limited experience and extensive towing use. Seen Powerstroke and Cummings engines surpass 500,000 miles, but I prefer Powerstroke because it offers higher torque curve ratio towing heavy weight. Typical of straight six cylinder Diesel engine designs limited with flat torque ratios regardless small to large semi truck engines or manufacture brands. Straight six increase max torque fast but unfortunately never surpassing beyond mid range compared to V8 designed Diesel engines higher torque curve not peaking out until max RPM, again regardless of manufacturers...!
