I have the same inverter (120v) and not sure how much I like it. It works - I've run it at 1500w for a few hrs straight... it makes a lot of weird fan noises, but not sure it's pure sine. I get speaker hum and I think I can tell the difference in the sound a fan motor makes running off the grid vs the inverter. I got it as a backup. Sort of afraid to run my fridge w/ it.

thanks for sharing the inverter precharging methods again - I suggest to cut that particular part out and release a short out of that cause the search engine will find your short then or even a video cause i had been searching for something like that for quite a long time last year when i had been unsure about the resistance needed. I still remember the first time 2 years ago or so when I had my first hybrid inverter and connected the battery and could not believe the sparks I got each and every time cause the manual did not mention nor someone in the videos I had seen before. First I had thought what has been going wrong, if I had not turned the inverter off or forgotten something else, but in the end the inverter worked fine and the main cause was the idea to test the inverter before doing all the cabling with the Leistungsschutzschalter / circuitbreaker. And without that circuit breaker just for testing purposes I simply had left the path described in the manual and that had caused the sparks that scared me a lot, I can tell you, that was an unpleasant moment and even more that the next time it did happen again and I started thinking about cheap quality of the inverter. Great explanation and of cause showing the kind of resistor used cause I only could remember last year that I had seen some big ones in my memory. .

Although, most, Aussie made ColourBond Steel sheds with ‘corrugated’ wall-sheets will already, have plenty, of ‘air-inlet-spaces’ around the bottom, at the concrete slab level, of the wall-sheets, thanks to the ‘profile’ of the corrugated sheets, and so won’t usually need, any additional air-intake vents to be installed. 😉👍

The voltage does not make a difference when operating the fuse. It's more in case of the fuse blows it does not arc as far as the lower voltage fuses. If this is really an issue, I don't know. Ich mache das beim MP nicht mehr. Bei groesseren Anlagen gibt es einfach einen Inverter Hauptschalter und fertig. Habe noch nie einen Ladewiderstand bei solchen Anlagen gesehen oder davon gelesen. Connected like this, the battery closest to the load is always going to discharge more and the bottom cell will charge more slowly. It is not charging to a higher SoC it is just not discharging as much so has retained a higher SoC. The top pack is doing all the work.

@@TheGalifrey I completely understand what your saying although even that is not the best way either . The best way is for a home run to a buss bar for each battery . But like I and Andy said , for this set up , for this low power , temporary set up it is fine . He wanted to get all the bugs out before building a bunch of cables. Cross connecting like your talking about is NOT the best way , but on a low power system is would be fine too. Each battery connected to a common buss bar (lynx power in) is the ONLY best way .
@TheGalifrey Жыл бұрын
@@onthelake9554 I agree, a common Bus bar System is the best way, but the cross connection would solve his imbalanced SoC issues which was what I was addressing. I only raised it as he didn't seem to understand why it was happening. The lynx is not perfect if you have a lot of packs as you have to make all the leads identical length, but big thick copper bus bars are definitely the way to go.

I explained, it is a temporary setup as I'm waiting for more parts and don't want to waste these few Futronics connectors I have before being sure how to proper cabling everything. So these fly-leads will stay for a while until we do something bigger... 😉

I'm putting together a separate system to run my AC mini split heat pump I'm using Senville but MrCool has DIY Mini splits units I'm really shocked Andy doesn't know about a mini split everyone on solar is using them very low power consumption and no surge

Andy, you can connect victron lynx shunt to the system and check the difference between victron shunt and seplos shunt. You have to set the visibility in "battery measurements" in System setup. I have victron smartshunt and JK BMS "shunt" in the system and the accuracy of shunt in JK is not good.
@OffGridGarageAustralia Жыл бұрын
But you can have only one shunt in the system at a time. At the moment, I'm still testing the Seplos capability of communication (or not communication) but I may switch to the Lynx Shunt eventually.
@stanislavmlcuch2085 Жыл бұрын
@@OffGridGarageAustralia Andy no you are wrong. You can have more shunts in the system, but only one is set as "Battery monitor". All others is hidden in "battery measurements". So if you connect the Lynx shunt to the system, you have to set "visible" in battery measurements and this shunt appears below Dashboard. Trust me, I have two shunts in the system 😉

All those bright lights Victron uses are not always appreciated. On a boat or camper they are kind of annoying when you try to sleep. I whish the lights could be disabled.

2 Layers of Duct Tape, disable them quite effectively

Oh, yeah, I can fully understand that. Even one blinking light can be enough to make your night a nightmare. A nightmode switch in the software would be great.
@Sailing-Aquaholic Жыл бұрын
@@HolgerNestmann I can confirm it takes two layers of ducktape to dimm then enough so you can still see the blinking thru, but it doesn't blind you. I won't talk about the mess the tape leaves behind after a year.

@@OffGridGarageAustralia IMHO LEDs should be off by default on routers, charge controllers, tvs. One could have a little button which switches them on for a minute if one is interested I dont need an LED to tell me the internet is working :D

Ok , what the heck ? If my battery is full I can't use solar to power my inverter till my battery is down to 96 % ??? Not cool if you have huge battery bank . It could measure the 1.5kw load on the battery , why not let that amount through the charge controller ?
@Full-of-Starships Жыл бұрын
I thought that can't be right, but I watched again and the Solar controller output is zero. I'd expect the block on charging to just be in the BMSs, but maybe this is a downside of the comms with the Cerbo GX? Perhaps that can be re-configured in the GX? You would expect the controller to be in float with the battery ignoring it?
@OffGridGarageAustralia Жыл бұрын
It's a major design problem with the Seplos BMS. More about this in a future video.
