This is a great lesson! I’ve been playing 12 years… but what I have found is far too many think they have Rhythm but there timing and feel actually is not that great. Rhythm is what carries a song… And without timing and feel with your rhythm, you’re not gonna have what you need to play properly. Too many players are focused on becoming rock stars with leads and playing as fast as they can… And they forget about the most important fundamentals like strumming, dynamics… Giving space and feel ! Thanks for this lesson… it is a great reminder on the importance of Rhythm and strumming!

Great video. Strumming seems to be one of the harder parts for me. I'm keeping in rhythm just fine, but just missing strings and my pick is still moving on me even after a few weeks of practice. I cut some lines into the back of it today and am using a very thin pick. That's helping for sure.

All three strumming techniques work well in different technical situations. Sometimes a combination of two or more can be used. Example if you are strumming 6 quavers in a moderate 6/8 tempo an all downstroke will fits in naturally. The pendulum hand movement is good especially when playing up tempo songs but for slow tempo it may look and feel a little bit off. But still i think it's a great strumming exercise. Strumming can be very frustrating in the beginning. I asked a couple of fiends that have been playing for years about strumming patterns, and they all say, they don't know what pattern they are strumming they just do it. A lot of people teaching beginner guitar forget how much of a challenge strumming can be and take it for granted. I really struggle with rhythm and strumming patterns, I found this POW Music "Supper Strummer" on You Tube and reluctantly bought it after messing around with the free stuff. It did help, Now I do the fastest lesson of each section as a practice warm up. Somehow I am now able to pick up a pattern on my own. So for the first time I am going to say, Yes it was worth it. And I recommend it. I paid $40 buck. I believe inflation has adjusted that price.

Great lesson but as a teacher myself Ive noticed the one thing that NOBODY talks and that beginners struggle with, is how to hold the plectrum, plectrum thickness for strumming and how hard or not you should be hitting the strings to get that nice full rhythmic sound.
