Did you know all that stuff back in 1995? It's easy to criticise in modern times when we all have Wikipedia and access to gigabytes of data collated about Bea Arthur over decades, also you really expect Richard and Judy to know who has performed at every single Royal Variety performance?
@joshsnyder41193 жыл бұрын
@@uberdude2555 No I would not expect Richard and Judy to know who has performed at every single Royal Variety performance. I would expect them to know about Beas performance, you know since she is the one being interviewed. Even in 1995 reporters knew how to do research. This was a distasteful interview.
@uberdude25553 жыл бұрын
@@joshsnyder4119 The fact is Bea Arther was widely known in the UK exclusively for her role in The Golden Girls, Maud was not broadcast in the UK when it first aired, and even reruns that were broadcast decades later never appeared on any of the main terrestrial TV channels. Yes Richard and Judy could have used researchers to make them appear more knowledgeable about Beas performances than they were, however I see nothing wrong with reflecting what 99.99% of the audience watching knew about Bea and building upon that by unscripted questioning. I understand Bea enjoyed spending time in the UK and was a fan of Richard and Judy so she must have been comfortable with their interview style. I therefore doubt Bea was offended, it's only the Captain Hindsight Google nerds of 2021 that get perpetually offended by everything.

The sitcom/tv series season is due to the networks -- not the unions.

Richard Madeley.......can't wait for everyone else to shut up so he can speak.....on their first show, he says 'its not OUR show, its YOUR show'.....he didn't mean it of course, he thought it was HIS show.....

I'm sorry but they're interviewing Beatrice Arthur and they don't know about Maude? For the fans out there! Beatrice Arthur (born Bernice Frankel; May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009) We miss you sweetheart! 😥

We didn't have Maude show here in the UK, but I understand you. The programme continues today (thankfully with different presenters) with the same high level of journalistic research ;)

Well she did smoke. I just don’t know how much of the depth or voice was smoking though. I think she’s always had a deep voice, but not that deep if not for cigarettes and all the singing and stage acting and aging.

Loved Bea, she was direct and dealt with that smarmy Richard brilliantly
