the government encourages a "cleaning day" a day or two every month where the communities that live in the bigger cities come together, go up and down the streets, and picks up all the trash. pay may or may not be involved depending on availability, but limited information is available; it's more often done out of taking ownership of your locale than it is for financial gain.

@@guser436 that happens a lot in almost every poor country. It's because they associate Europeans and Americans with wealth. But prices of goods are already dirt cheap in many poor countries, so I don't think it hurts the average tourist to spend a few cents more. I've seen a tourist negotiate the price of an umbrella from 85 cents to 50 cents in one of these countries. If it was me, I would have actually paid at least a dollar, rather than negotiate such a low price.

Life has become a lot harder for us, people outside the capital can't or have a really hard time visiting the capital and touristic locations around the country because all the prices have been adjusted to foreigners. Even local home renting has become a lot harder as the owners prefer to rent to tourists so we're paying a lot more than we were a couple years ago just to have a place to sleep

That is true. However this guy is showing HOW MUCH THOSE INDICATORS ARE WRONG. HE IS SHOWING THAT 10 USD IN BURUNDI EGALS MORE THAN 150 USD IN THE UNITED STATES. WE KNOW 10 USD IS ALMOST NOTHING HERE, THERE IS NO EVEN A BAD RESTAURENT DISH (unless they give you a rebate) WHILE IN BURUNDI YOU CANNOT FINNISH IT. THE PURPOSE OF THIS VIDEO WAS TO PROVE THAT THE GDP INDICATOR THAT BURUNDIANS LIVING AT 1 USD PER DAY THEREFORE ARE ONE OF THE POOREST IN THE WORLD, IS FALSE BECAUSE 1 USD IN BURUNDI IS RELATIVELY ALMOST MORE THAN 50 USD IN NEW YORK. THANKS!

This country is cheap and I am an Indian. When an Indian says something is cheap. It's cheap.
@ApostateP264 жыл бұрын
I feel it is not cheap, same as India. 20-33 cents is like 15-20 Rs you can definitely get a cool drink in India too for that much.

This dude is kinda rude to the locals tbh just like screaming “I’m in the poorest country” and exclaiming everything is so cheap when it’s probably not that cheap for locals because they don’t get paid in dollars even though most of them probably work harder than him
