I am a neuro divergent person (ADHD). And I relate to a lot of things here but also oppose some things. With ADHD, your thinking ability is spectacular. You can think insane thoughts insanely fast. Like Vijay Kaththiyil table inte adiyil koode nokkumbo plan kaanille, athupole think cheyyum. But thats basically the only perk to it. My life is a living hell. ADHD has many demerits. 1. Addiction. I knew something was off about me ever since I was young. So I abstained from drinking and smoking. Now I am addicted to Sugar and social media. It's very hard to overxome this. 2. Very hard to form habits. I struggle to study or go to the gym, or even do basic skincare. I need a to do list to do pretty much anything because I forget things. 3. I have no intenal concept of time. A deadline one week away and a deadline one month away renders the same response from me. I cannot bring myself to prioritise the most important task. 4. Its very easy to get distracted. 5. Sensory overload is one thing. I can't go to Poorams, Weddings etc. It's not going to be a terrible experience but certainly an overstimulating one. It wears me out. 6. I cant sit in a class. Because the brain works faster, its mundane. Oru topic inte basic gist kittiyaal odane dopamine release cheyyaan olla adutha topics kittanam. Athukond thanne ethra understanding ondenkilum exams il nallaayitt perform cheyyaan pattilla. I've even stopped exams in the middle, even when I knew the answers because I felt exhausted and unable to do a thing. 7. Very hard to form relationships. 8. Cannot sustain a thought for more than a minute. This sounds good when you look at it from the other side. You can think a lot. But in order to make any good progress, you have to stay with the though. 10 mins kond oru action plan create cheyyaan pattillello. 9. Even if you create an action plan, executive disfunction will prevent you from achieving it. 10. Multiple hobbies. I switch from one hobby to another in a matter of a couple of weeks. Bikes to books to movies to series to travel etc. etc. this means you are a jack of all trades but the master of none. And this world definitely prefers the masters.

@@Alex-gj6sp I am having trouble getting medicated. I went to a therapist who diagnosed my ADHD. But he is unwilling to recommend me to a psychiatrist to prescribe medicines. He says I need to stay in therapy for maybe a year to do it. So I'm not medicated as of now. Also he tells me that I can develop a psychological addiction to the medicine if prescribed. I don't know what to do. I'm 24 years old. One of my greatest regrets is wasting my life. I feel like I'm wasting time at therapy. Maybe say the medicines are prescribed at 27 years of age and it magically fixes my life, what am I going to do after I wasted all my 20s. I feel like I'm stuck.

@@AnandA2155 I can relate every single of the points you mentioned. 🫂 I also don't have the internal concept of time. Sometimes I do this exercise of looking at the second hand and minute hand of an analog clock for 10 mins, fully focused. That helps to get a sense of how long actually is 10 mins. But the effect wears of within days, I do it again. It's like a meditation also. To control my flow of thoughts, I read. Words from an external source overwrite the flow of thoughts. Helps most of the time. For relationship, we will very much have theoretical knowledge about everything human psychology, but ut does not come naturally. Sometimes I'll have to be like a robot and put scheduled time to friends and family. From the outside I appear normal. Behind the scenes before any social meeting is messy. I stopped trying to do anything perfectly. So I put very small achievable aims only. Like I don't plan to workout everyday. I plan to workout 4 days a week. So that freedom is there for which day I have the mood. No pressure also. Also I cannot organise like other people. So drawers with things filled are one good solution. So from outside it won't look messy, yet we'll know where to find everything. Messy looking places may trigger our obsession during a bad day. Always be prepared for bad days.

To those wondering if you are a neurodivergent : Its a spectrum. You could show mild , low to strong characteristics. It varies from person to person. That's why it is difficult to diagnose or realise, along with lack of awareness. If you want to clarify, you need to consult a doctor. Its a genetic condition, so there isn't exactly a cure. The series " Atypical" isn't perfect but it did a good job in showing the life of an autistic person in my opinion.

There is a lot of literature on(if you are interested) that ADHD is often a misdiagnosis or there is an over diagnosis with these conditions. In that sense, all human beings fall somewhere in this spectrum so does that mean everyone is neurodivergent? And she talks about how people who are in the spectrum are able to pick up on others who have it too. I mean, the first indicator or symptom of neurodivergence is usually lack of social skills and not being able to pick up cues. So, there is definitely a research based scientific conversation that needs to happen. The comments section proves it. After watching this every comment says i think i have it too. Maybe you do maybe you don’t, but you don’t get to make that diagnosis.

I have difficulty finding the right words or expressing myself, and many other challenges. However, getting a diagnosis has been difficult. I visited two psychologists thinking that there will be any test for this, but they both said it was just overthinking. waiting for ur vedio on autism❤

Taking bath, going out, making a phone call everything I need to process in my head first n then only I can actly do it. I had so much interest in psychology but went into other streams. Finally last year did my PG in Psychology. I always knew I was different and learned more abt this after my son was diagnosed.

So I am also going through this..... I always thought something is wrong with me but I never knew. I find it very difficult to be in my own home because I need more peraonal space. But somehow I dont have stage fear I do find it calming when I am at a stage but cant talk in a group of people. I can really relate to this sensory issue. I too need prep time before taking a bath. And I am feeling more pain whenever I have to take injections at hospitals. No one around understand this thing. Forgetting is the next thing. Its like I know something but cant make it to a sentence. Sometimes its very overwhelming because I cant be at peace till I find that word. Nowadays music is the only thing making me somewhat ok. Thats the thing i use to charge me. This journey is tough but not impossible ❤

Just like feminism, the effects differ in different classes. It is hell to be from lower socio-economic strata to live with neurodivergence. Having less space physically. Having less free time or own time. Marriage is when everything comes out. One can mask or manage neurodivergence to an extent as a single person. Once you get married, especially as an arranged marriage and got matched with someone who is not in sync with your bandwidth, you may see your behavior changing. I always feel many angry dads are just frustrated neurodiverse people. They would have been nicer people in a different situation. I think about my situation and then I think about people from lesser social status to have to live with a condition life long. Not being able to achieve in par with one's talents, but always knowing you have the potential. Rich people can make up in other ways. In India we see more of mentally unhealthy people than healthy one's if you observe. And I personally believe that as there is a growing awareness among people about these things, people's ego winning over the reality and many are not willing to work on it and change. So parents with anger issues continue to do same thinking that I won't change, let them manage. Typical Indian mentality of ageism is that no one will take advice from younger people. Without lowering ego, that is with spiritual growth, no social change is possible, even if the awareness or knowledge is at all time high. See the wars and how we are apathetic to it. We thought knowledge will lead us to better times. We now see that knowledge without managing ego is of no use.

One thing I have noticed is, when people are sad and depressed, they go to a therapist. But people who seek therapy for anger issues are very less. Even though they get angry for small things, they dont try to change it much as it affects other people more than themselves. So even their sorrows or mood changes, if it starts affecting them, they turn it into anger and make others also miserable.

Thank you so much for the video dear Viya, appreciate your effort. About neurodivergent people understanding people in a flash and about the thick friendship among neurodivergents, i think its your personal expereince and strength. I dont think you can generalise it. Especially when it comes to autists (even those with high functional autism), understanding people and social cues is what they struggle with mostly! And please dont just feel sorry for them, feel sorry for the neurotypicals too who live with their neurodivergent partners or take care of their neurodivergent children everyday! Just a friendly reminder 😊. Because I think today's world has only about 25% neurotypicals! 😅 I myself am confused now, am I a neurotypical or a neuroatypical who masks extremely well?
