I'm closing in on 53, and this movie has informed my life and my friendships ever since. I can tell you that growing into your older self, or "aunting" as my sister friends call it, is nothing to fear. And those close female friendships are so vital to living. There's nothing wrong with getting swept up into a good story and stories are, I believe, the fabric of our lives. Which stories we choose to live in matters, because the world can be hard and cold. We don't have to lean into that though. Bringina a little magic into the world is a radical act of love.

@studious_nonchalance, perfectly said! Also coming up on 53 and I actually saw this in the theater when it was released. Grab your inspiration where you can get it, I say-I’ve gone on entire trips based on a movie, a book, a video, and I’ve never regretted it. Not even once. Magic is everywhere. ✨

I loooved that you touched on female friendship and that sister kinship that is so magical. That I think was one of the most important traits of the movie, not the love between her and the dude, but her and her sister, and their deep powerful and mystical bond!

1. I love to see a redhead autumn tone thriving 😌 your style is amazing! 2. At 28 I'm finally able to sustain female friendships and I value them so much. I could cry talking about it. The deep love, loyalty, devotion, and emotional relationship that you can only have with your girlfriends is what i suspect will matter at the end of my life. I feel so sorry for guys missing out on the dopamine and serotonin of a girl's night. Once I was able to develope mentally enough to gain and maintain these friendships I felt so lucky to be a woman.

This has reminded me to rewatch practical magic!!! Exactly what I need rn.. and don’t let society make you feel bad about making something your whole personality; those who say that clearly haven’t liked something enough to do that with! Also as a disabled girlie life is so heavy most of the time, and the biggest life lesson I’ve learned is to seek out joy, and embrace the levity and light where I can, and that often entails feeling like a kid, so I try to feel like a giddy little kid as often as possible! Thankyou for another wonderful video ✨

Love this vlog. I totally agree with ‘romanticism’ as it helps us escape this crazy world. I am 60 in February next year but certainly don’t feel that age or act that age. I am very grateful to be healthy & fit. I have become a grandmother for the first time and that feels fantastic. I love nature and the outdoors, I hope to escape soon the constraints of a full time job soon so I do something that makes me happier. I need to slow down after some difficult times over the years like many people. I always tell my children to look around and see the beauties of nature, like a stunning sunset or a tree in Autumn 🍂 Beautiful make up, thank you. Best wishes Karen 🤎🍁🍂🧡

My aesthetic is bookshelf. LOL my home is dimly lit, books and their dust, cat hair, dark wood and knicknackery from my mom’s house mixed with random sci-fi, crystals and dried flowers. It is safe space but also ancestral - which has been amazing in wake of the loss of my mom last October, since I’ve been able to find so much comfort in the space. I did a similar thing at work - made my personal office dimly lit and full of personality where my public space is more barren and business like. Gives me a nice retreat.

I love how inspired you are and I completely relate. I have been slowly curating my personal space to be completely on theme for this aesthetic because it make me happy. I currently live in one small room space, but I have focused on my linens, trinkets, books and witch supplies so that my bedroom is essentially a tiny aunt's house. lol My cat loves it too. I’ve lived in basically every neighbourhood of Toronto and I have to say the east side has my heart because of the beach, little ethiopia, greektown, etc. speaking of pole classes, I used to go to redefine fit like every day when I lived across the street from the studio a few years back! but I pulled a back muscle while doing a shoulder mount and have been taking it easy since then 😅 hope you’ve been enjoying your polegress!!

I got recommended this video and I'm so glad, love your aesthetics and the message. I recently read The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland and enjoyed it so much because it was the first time I truly understood the parallels between witchy themes and feminine power. When i read the book, "The Witch in Every Woman" it changed my outlook on life and who I want to be in this world. I want to be a place of peace, power, and refuge for others and ive seen it manifest in my life since then. The "witches" were just powerful women who led and healed. Its sad the reputation that developed when it was really just awesome women who could have changed the world.

I agree that Practical Magic is a vibe! I watched it last year with the my youngest son for the first time in years. There isn’t really anything to compare. And most movies that have a witch theme tend to be… a bit on the horror side? Sometimes it's nice to be reminded we have friends, we have family, there are good people in the world even if they're a little kookoo and it's good to stay grounded and in the present as hard as it can be 😅😅 I hope too with the election coming up that we are reminded who the frick we are yet again women are powerful and they are magic if you ask me 🤷♀️🤷♀️

Love this! I loved that movie growing up, and still do. I’m nearing 41 and I’ve got 5’ of wavy hair and I wear funny shirts and multichrome eyeshadows and just be my weird self. Im not witchy / but I am weird lol. Aging is hard. While I feel fantastic at nearly 41 and I clock a good 10 years younger - it’s hard AF. And I’m not looking forward to 50. But at least people are respecting aging more now. Love your thoughts. I love the idea of bad ass, mature women. Guess we will just have to be them and be the inspo for ourselves and everyone else. Really enjoyed this.

Close female friends are a treasure, and this movie (and the novel), are a wonderful example of patience and love for our family/friendships. Stockhard Channing is everything to me (since I first saw Grease in the late 70s) and the aunts in Practical Magic are so playful in their power. I find industrial surroundings very cinematic and romantic, and your story about foraging wild raspberries captures that vibe perfectly. I love the idea of everyday magical ritual, and creating your own main character energy in your life. This conversation is a great reminder of cultivating intention into life everyday. I’ve connected with stories my whole life, via novels, film, even songs. A big change in my life was when I reconnected more with some of my core friendships from my early adulthood. I feel like my choice to revisit that exuberance of my youth made lovely things happen in my life. Anyway, great conversation and video! I look forward to you talking about unlocking feminine power with your dance class! Happy Autumn Evangeline! (first day even!)

Thanks for the reminder that things have the power that you imbue them with. It just so happens that I am suffering from the powerless feeling of being a woman over 40, watching people interrupt me so they can redirect to my husband until I give up on participating in conversations entirely, and feeling like I am robbed of my significance next to him. Maybe there's power in being quiet, though, and not needing people to acknowledge you. Maybe there's power in things like improving my home and focusing on my truest friends. Not speaking because I shall instead be a mystery. One of the most compelling compliments anyone ever gave me when I was younger was that she didn't approach me because I was like the Lady of the Lake. To the lake I return. Maybe I'm secretly holding Excalibur here. They don't know.
@evangelinemolly3 ай бұрын
That is such a cool compliment! Not so cool is people talking to your husband instead. Seems to be a theme with women since time 😓😓😓 But there definitely is power in just doing you, and finding the everyday things that bring you joy!

@evangelinemolly It really isn't cool, but he doesn't know how to handle it any more than I do. The ending is incredibly moving. One of my favorite films of all time. Also think you'd enjoy the magical films of Jean Cocteau, esp his film Orpheus. María Casares is a cinematic goddess.
