I wish you nothing but the best in the future amigo. Just looked at your website. And as cliche as what I am about to say is, "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again" - Dear Departed Mom. I ran 2 failed mushroom businesses. But this 3rd and last attempt of mine has paid off fruitfully. I did move across state lines, and now have employees. And yeah I do pay them to sit around playing COD all day lol. It's all good. I hope you can get back on your feet and once again find your passion and fulfill your dreams bro.

Thanks so much for providing this playlist! You've really answered a lot of questions I had about the how and why that I couldn't really find anywhere else. I assumed and was told many times that I needed to use a tub etc for growing, even if I bought pre-colonized bags and now that all seemed like a waste of not only money but time spent setting up something I didn't need to do in the first place when I could have just grown straight from the bag by itself. I'm not a commercial grower, I live in a small apartment and just want mushrooms for myself so I use a black bin for colonization with a seed starting heat mat and then fruit in shoeboxes after with holes cut and medical tape over the holes for air exchange. It's nice to know in the future I can skip a lot of those steps.

Why not put circular holes in the bags and stuff with polyfill like on a monotub?Polyfill tightly stuffed on the bottom holes loosely stuffed on the top holes. Then you wouldn't need a martha fruiting chamber at all just a room with proper temps and shelves.
@Pinko-Diamond6 ай бұрын
You don't need a Martha for this method either That's the whole point. If you were using a Martha you would just cut the entire top of the bag off.

I love this video. But when I inject water back into the block it's like injecting into a brick.

The cutting technique would only be for your environment, right you couldn’t do that for a bookshelf or your counter because I would lead to contamination correct?

Once the bag is fully colonized, can you remove the from the bag to expose the whole growth into and open container
@Pinko-Diamond6 ай бұрын
Yes, but that would just spread your yield out over a larger surface area. Usually small service areas yield just about the same they just get larger, More dense or produce more flushes.

great vidz, if i were injecting a 20ml bag with water...i guess depending on how much it shrinks, 3?4 water injections do you think?
@Brianholmwood19736 ай бұрын
So the injection actually spreads through the whole block and doesnt need more? Ive opened the top of my bag and pegged it shut. I open it in the morning to replace air and close it again. Same at night. It has some pins. Ive placed it in a tray inside a large clear tub under my window. Indirect light. Temp is about 75f though of a day being near summer.. ideally it should be lower right?

Very informative series! Two questions... 1) for a 4' x 8' setup like you describe, how much environmental control do you need? do you need to tent to control temperature or can I use bare adjustable shelving? 2) when contamination does happen, is there any way to save the fungus or has it become generally unsafe to try to keep fruiting for culinary purposes? If I catch mold early for example and it's the size of a dime, can I cut the mold out or kill it with iso?
@alamazoo65643 жыл бұрын
for the first question, temp is usually pretty flexible but it depends on species, for most as long as it doesn't get too hot or cold you should be fine. For the second question, its generally a bad idea to try to save contam, as it usually just spreads it. It is possible for the mycelium to beat it though, but I would still keep that bag in a different area from the healthy ones. good luck c:

@hendybee94852 жыл бұрын
You added 60ml of water, but would it be different depending on the size of the original block? Would it be reasonably close to weigh the block in grams before fruiting, weigh it again after harvest, and inject the difference in mL with a syringe?

I have a question… Can I cut my block in half so I can grow two separate mushrooms? I am doing a science fair project and it’s a bit pricy to buy 2 blocks. Can I cut it in half and and give each a different compost to see how the growth is affected? Or will it not work???

@sandytaggart69477 ай бұрын
So when you cut the bag, we are no longer worried about contamination?
@Pinko-Diamond6 ай бұрын
As long as it's fully colonized, the only reason it would get contaminated at that point was that there was a hidden contamination in there or. Sometimes a little dry spot can open up The surface to a more aggressive contamination like trich or still standing water sitting on the sirface cam absorb nutrients and become a soup that bacteria will start growing in. There could be a few other possible ways that I could get in contamination even after it's fully cultivated but you learn how to avoid those pretty easily with experience.
