Great video. There are so many options for practice hands. My favorite is the silicone practice hand from Red Iguana. I use it all the time.

As a Tech who has used all of these except for the expensive, silicone hand, I still yearn for something with the practicality of the flexible one you can clamp to a desk. For me that one is the perfect option, except for the fact that the fingers break over time and, as Susie stated, forms don’t stick. Question: can you actually soak tips off the silicone hand without damaging it?

I always feel self conscious when I get my nails done because I'm always told to relax. I physically can't relax my hands no matter how hard I try I have had multiple strokes so I honestly can't relax my hand I always feel so embarrassed about it the one time I had a technician makes me feel so bad about it I cried haven't been back to a salon since 😔
@mMeFlora6 жыл бұрын
oh no :( i hope one day you'll find a technician who will be understanding :(
@jaein916 жыл бұрын
I have a similar problem that my hands are super sweaty. Not cause I'm hot or nervous but just naturally, I like to think of it as natural moisturizer. However nail techs always ask if I'm nervous about getting my nails done which is SO embarrassing when the woman getting her nails done next to you hears and turns to look. I tell the Nail tech that I'm not nervous, my hands are normally like that and she literally (and very loudly) says "Nooooo, it looks like you're nervous, just calm down" and massages my fingers slightly. It's happened to me so many times and I've just stopped getting my nails done cause techs just don't understand the difference between sweating and an actual medical condition where you sweat excessively 😔

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. I think it would help if you let them know why your hands are always stiff during the service . I thought I was gonna die and I have never ever participated in anything like that again . 😫😣

I've been doing hair for over 36 years and want to start getting involved in nails.. You are so inspiring and informative.. Question with the practice hands.. Can you use glue, acrylic, gels, etc? right on the hand or do you need to put a tip or something on it so you can remove it? If so, how do you remove products? I'd love to practice poly gel and acrylic, but wonder if this would ruin it or be a one time application? I'm hoping to hear back soon, so I can order and get started.. Thanks.

The Naio Nails channel has a pair of videos in which Kirsty, the Naio Nails spokesperson and nail artist, makes a silicone hand. You might want to watch those so that you can learn from her mistakes. The videos are *very* funny and well worth your time. I'm considering making one, too, btw. I suggest putting large gauge copper wires in the fingers so that you can bend them. (Copper is very malleable and easy to bend.) If you double the wire back on itself it wont have a sharp point that could eventually poke through the finger tip. I've been thinking about how to do the wires a LOT. I'll probably make mine an uninterrupted wire, shaped like a W, but with an extra point for the pinky. I will probably leave the wires out of the thumb as it doesn't really need to bend as much.
@ladylotusinc6 жыл бұрын
calichef1962 Avid viewer of Naio. Already seen it lol I'm going to use a type of rubber that gets SUPER DETAILED instead of the algaenate. I was still trying to figure out how to place the wire though. I'm thinking once I get my mould done I'll place the wire and then pour. Great idea on the wire btw! Totally gonna try doubling it back into a w almost. I'm thinking of placing extra layers of rubber around the wire for added protection too. I'll be trying to do a video on my channel when I attempt it . Sub for sub?💙
@calichef19626 жыл бұрын
I'll sub to your channel, but I don't have any videos uploaded here. I was thinking to perhaps fill the mold and dump it out again to coat the inside (to make "skin") and then letting that dry. (The same way fancy chocolates are made.) Perhaps with a bit extra in the fingertips as it would settle there anyway. It might be a good idea to dip/coat the wires at the same time. Then, once it's all dried/cured/hardened (whatever the term) I'd try to fit the wires into the fingers, maybe suspending them with string (?) and then filling the mold the rest of the way up. I can't wait to see how yours turn out!

On the cheaper plastic hands, I found that if I used poster putty and a full cover nail tip to imitate a natural nail with free edge, it works so much better. 3M and other brand make a sticky tacky putty that can be used to adhere the fake nail. Don't buff plastic hand ot the putty will get stuck to the little grooves and scratches. A small pack of putty can do about 100 nails or more. It comes already cut in little squares but you have to cut the little square smaller. It is often in a blue or whitish color. I found pink on Amazon. I recommend the white or pink. Blue works too if it is all you can find because you'll cover it up. After the nail tip is on, you can glue another tip like you would do for a set. The first tip is to be a pretend natural nail and you treat it as such. When you are done the whole thing pops off and your practice hand is as good as new.

You could email the company and ask them. You could even spot check it- like turn it upside down and put Acetone on the palm and see if it damages the plastic after soaking for awhile
