Hello KZbinrs! A special hello to my fellow PRELOADERS! For those of you that aren't PRELOADERS yet, hit that subscribe button and become one. This video covers Practice Session #19. As always, we enjoyed ourselves, but more importantly, everyone left with a higher confidence level than what they arrived with and that's really the main goal of my channel. So sit back, relax and pay attention as Pam, Clay, Jason, Mark, Robin, David & Tom practice to become the Boss of their motorcycles!
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
What does PRELOAD mean?
PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

IF THERE IS STILL AN AVAILABLE SPOT FOR YOU, YOU WILL BE SENT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL WITH A CONFIRMATION NUMBER (1-10). @@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle you have a Proverbs 31 woman in your wife. Doing so much in support of her husband and helping the channel. I've seen her pop in and out with small quick appearances in some video in her SUV and riding two up. When will we see her ride one of your girls. If she doesn't ride yet when I make it down there you can teach her on my Indian Scout. It's my first bike and the channel would love to see you and her riding on some adventures in the future. @Anita Wellborn Simmons get your girl power what you waiting on. Good woman and wives do ride too. And thanks for what you do in the background.

Robert, I would first like to applaud you for your teaching skills. Even tho, I have been riding for years, I have learned very much from your videos. Your method of “Why and How” is terrific. I have learned a lot from your videos, especially the low speed. In the past, I had never put my right foot on rear brake until I had been moving. I won’t ever do that again! But I always had my right hand on the front brake which is especially dangerous in a turn. The front brake has its use, but remember “It is not your friend.” I wish everyone who rides would watch your videos, they are the best on the internet.

Good ole X-Bronx! Travelled it many times. Years ago my dad and I were driving a tractor trailer headed LI City on the X-Bronx and a truck in front of us got a good size rock (twice the size of a fist) caught between the rear tires. The mud flap didn't prevent it from flying up and hitting the windshield. The windshield is the only thing that saved my dad's life. Thanks for highlighting the road hazards that exist. Great video Robert! Also, may I add to the audience to ride sensibly. I am a police officer in Washington DC and last night I was on the scene of a motorcycle accident in the 3rd street tunnel. The rider was on a "crotch rocket" and going way too fast. In fact about 3 times the legal speed limit. Long story short, he hit the back of a Toyota Camry at 100 miles per hour the major crash unit estimates. He flew off the bike tumbled down the highway lost his full face helmet and severed his leg. He didn't live to see today's sunrise and beautiful morning. Instead, he died on a dirty highway street of massive head injuries and extreme blood loss from his head and severed leg. I was there and my coworker tried to save his life by applying a tourniquet to no avail. He was riding with a group of guys who he had met on a FB group and it was the first time he rode with them. They said in their statements he was going way to fast. Folks pleas don't be "that guy" ride sensibly, responsibly, and let's all live to ride many great rides! Thanks for your channel Robert, riding education from a professional is important.

Slow speed skills are very fun! My Father in Law and I practice every opportunity we can get in parking lots and on the street! The street is the best way after your skills are up because like you said you have to be aware of EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE... An when your doing slow speed maneuvers while in traffic it becomes second nature... it's like it just comes natural! Because at first this stuff was hard to get down! Lol! But like you say PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

I really enjoyed this practice session mainly I find myself repeating your exercise directions in my head then I go out and practice. I am in the Philippines and I am looking for a place to practice, most of the time I am practicing in the "real world ". In addition, I find myself doing slow riding; u-turns; L/R turnes and I see people watching me (I always do better lol). I have this u -turn I hate in order to get into my gated yard.....with a little "puckering" I am able to do it. I have to make a video of this "Trust and Believe " experience. I challenge all "Old Heads" lol. God bless you for all that you do. I'm now 75 (4/9) and I began riding a big bike at 74.

Dumb question How do the riders hear you when they are riding? Got to practice the other day and because of you I was able to make a u turn on a public highway. Kept going through my head preload and keep it loaded. Customized my clutch lever today to put the friction zone larger and at a different spot when engaging. I even did some slow speed riding. Amazing how easy it is when doing it they way you show us. I have been riding for years but it is amazing what I didn't know. So thanks a million keep the videos coming

@@jolkraeremeark6949 I have a cable clutch. It is hard to describe and don't know if you can do it on all bikes. The hole where the cable attaches I drilled another hole so that you pull the cable farther if that makes any sense. The friction zone on my bike was way out to the end of the clutch lever travel and the friction zone was very small. By doing what I did it will make the friction zone towards the center of the clutch lever travel and make the friction zone larger. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. Might have to adjust the cable a little.

So I heard you're going to do the dragon.. I'm telling you.. if you going to do that, you've at least got to try the diamondback, and the devil's triangle. I’m very happy that you’ve been working on this. Ok firstly, the 21” wheel is a non issue so don’t worry about that. Secondly, lock your handlebars to the right… If you can’t COMFORTABLY reach your clutch handle, you may want to consider either adjusting your handlebars, if that’s an option, or changing them.

Great vids, love the content. I am going through the MSF basic rider course right now, tomorrow is the last day, and this content has made me fly through (along with my skills from BMX, dirt bikes and riding briefly 30 years ago)....That all being said, Pam (no offense here) gets a lot of credit for doing this on a Honda 500. The Harley street 500's (about the same size etc.) at the class can be whipped around like toys. How would it look if she were on a Road Glide, Street glide, Gold Wing? Take it for what it is, but "making it look easy" on a Honda 500, isn't making it look easy, it's simply having a small, less powerful, more whippy bike.

Watch her in exercise #4. That’s the bread and butter to pretty much all of this and the weight and size of the motorcycle has little to do with it. She is using very good technique and deserves all the credit I give her for it. There are literally hundreds of thousands of motorcycle riders that I could put on Pam’s motorcycle and they would have problems navigating that turn. It’s all about technique. 👍🏾

I parked my bike up a slant and when it was time for me to leave I backed up, I didn’t have much room to turn so when I gave the bike gas. It kept moving backwards then I panicked because I thought I was going to run into the cars in front of me. Therefore, I took a breath and calm down. I put my foot on the brake gave it a little gas then I felt the bike go forward, finally I took off. I realize that I was holding the wrong brake to get off a hill.
