Being a new rider for two years now I’ve certainly come a long ways but watching your videos has helped me understand the 3 main keys to slow riding TREMENDOUSLY. You explain it very well and I appreciate that you share all this info. So thank you
I always find myself laughing when I watch your videos, because you make it seem so easy. I practice throughout the week, and I am getting better with time. But I need more work! I watch videos each night, and I call that, classroom time. They are very necessary, I feel. Then actual riding practice, I do that a few days out of the week.

I have been watching your videos since before I even got my first bike. I am (now) 63 yrs old and have been riding my 2016 (915 lb) RG Ultra for 4 yrs now. Had not ridden for 40 years. Load it and keep it Loaded runs through my mind every time I get into a slow speed situation, I even use it on the tight twisties. LOVE IT!!! Thanks for the tips and making me want to ride like you! I have a long, long way to go but practice, practice, practice EVERY time I go out for 10-15 mins. I encourage any new riders I run into to watch your channel. Unfortunatley I truly believe most don’t do what you suggest. Their loss!! Thanks for helping me be a better rider!

Robert, greetings from Texas. Last weekend I completed the MSF Basic Rider Course having not been on a motorcycle for over 30 years. On the test I had a deduction for going wide in a left hand U-turn. So I have work to do. A couple of weeks before that I discovered your channel, subscribed, and started watching the videos. I will tell you that I had never heard the term “friction zone.” When I first heard you use the term I literally thought you were talking about where the tires contacted the pavement. Really. When you explained it, I knew immediately what you were saying because I have ridden before. Preloading was a totally new term and concept. When I started into the Rider Course exercises I incorporated what I had already learned from you. I will hopefully have my new to me 2019 Heritage Classic in a couple of days. I have cones and access to good parking lots. I’ll be out there practicing what you teach and of course I’ll continue to watch your videos. And oh yeah, I am a Preloader! I’m privileged to support you. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Thank you Robert. I am learning so much from your videos. I tought I was a good rider before meeting your videos, but now I can ride without stress between 5 to 12 miles with confidence. I am 74 years old and riding for more than 30 years. At the moment riding Honda Vfr800X Crossrunner 2021.

Although some riders would at least remove the saddlebags first, I think the common first fear of these good exercises is that of scraping, then toppling down, horribly scratching paint and chrome on an expensive bike. It would be easier to do them with some loaned junker bike, if possible.

First practice I had to stop practicing, I was 40 pushups in my arms felt like Jello. I now have gotten used to not using it. To get out of the habit I shortened the front brake hand lever so my fingers didn't get to it without a conscious effort. Now it's second nature. I only use the front in emergency stops or to slow while under speed above 20 mph . Thanks to you brother. , I'm around guys that want to constantly bump the throttle while they're slipping their clutch, and they wonder why they're always unsteady and unstable in parking lots, stops and low speed maneuvers. I've sent all of them links to this video channel, couple days ago I asked one of the ones who's still riding like a duck, "hey man did you see how he did it on that be the boss of your motorcycle channel? " I had to do your job brother, . He had contacted me last night to get your info again said he had deleted the link. There's one more convert for you. You're my go-to guy when I try to explain about preloading or about slow speed maneuvers. Since coming across your channel, even my wife notices how much better I am with slow speed stuff. She told me the other day" this guy really made a difference. I'm not nervous when we're in parking lots anymore " 😅 you know when your woman says something like that.... It's true. This is so good Robert! I've adopted the notion that these techniques are not just for use in case you want to impress someone with your ability to handle a bike, but rather, it's how I stay alive. That is why I mastered the slow speed control first in my desire to be on the streets with a bike! Now, some 25 years later, i still practice like my life depends on it, because in my opinion, it does! I never have to replace front brake pads, but the rear ones...well, those get replaced at 4 times the rate lol. Fantastic demonstration, thank you!

I have watched a ton of u-turn demonstration videos and yours has been the one that has explained it the best. Most videos I have watched explain what you need to learn but not how to do it. Knowing the clutch should be in the friction zone the entire time is the one explanation I find that’s been missing in other demonstration videos. I’m not discrediting the value of the other videos but this video has explained the one question I keep having since it hasn’t been answered prior to me watching this video. Not really knowing how big the area was just kept telling myself to trust my training. Stopped after about 20 minutes to measure. The total area was right at 18' wide, I was probably only using 16' feet of this. Thanks for the advice and your time you put into these videos. I took a beginner riding course (local to me) 9 years ago to get my motorcycle endorsement. We were taught to keep the bike upright and never use the rear brake. That using the rear brake will cause us untold problems. So prior to seeing you and Jerry Palladino's videos, that's how I practiced u-turns. Imagine my surprise at seeing both of you telling me I was doing it incorrectly. That leaning the bike and using the rear brake is the way to go. That I won't crash when using the rear brake. Ugh. I'll be trying your techniques this weekend. Thanks for the tips!

@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle the instructor told us to never use the rear brake. I didn't know enough to question why bother having one? It took me a year of riding before I talked to a more experienced rider about the rear brake and started using it. Another weird thing. Virginia's riding test wouldn't let anyone do the u-turn part of the test leaning. ??? Got lots of complaints from fellow sport bike riders about that. Some of them couldn't perform the u-turn upright because the turning radius on the bike was too wide for the box.

I’ve found it especially helpful on turns at an intersection where I’m approaching the intersection, I have the green and need to make a tight right turn. Never liked riding in the rain. Other solo officers I ride with ride the same in the rain. The keyhole, intersection, the U-turn, and everything else I still did, until I bought a 2021 Road Glide Limited. It feels totally different and heavier. I know I should be able except my fear of dropping it is killing me. I know back in the day, you get a new bike, you drop it in the parking lot to get it out of the way. I'll always remember clutch and rear brake. Maybe I'll grow a pair and get back into it.

I consider myself a Student of Motorcycles and my desire as a student has increased as I get better with these techniques. Most I was aware of but not all. You have found a way to have them all come together and make more sense as they work and flow in unison. Thank You !!! Just a couple weeks ago this preloader made a tight left Uturn from a stop out of an end parking space and felt so good about that I immediately went into 2 circles in the opposite direction in a somewhat confined area of the convenience store parking lot where I was !!!! Damn that was nice !!!! Just happened to catch a guy in his pickup truck watching me somewhat surprised that I had just made these slow speed maneuvers in this space without looking or being scared and with absolutely no hint of ever wanting or needing to put my feet down or out at all !!!! Damn that was nice !!!!! Hell yes I said it !!! It was a nice feeling to have the increased confidence to make those moves and to also know some guy who probably also rides saw me make those moves and probably wonders how !!!! Not bragging, just sayin' !!!! Okay, maybe bragging a little bit , but I earned that one !!!! 😆🤣😂 The Confidence Building is Real People !!!!! Hey Donald. Man that is absolutely fantastic!! I wish that feeling you are experiencing on every PRELOADER because that is exactly what I want all of them to feel. As you've said already, the confidence building is REAL! Once it's achieved, everything else will follow! And I know you want to brag about it and you should. It's a great accomplishment that only motorcycle riders can truly understand. Very happy and proud of you brother!👍🏾

Another great video. What I have started to do is concentrate on getting to full lock as fast as possible. When I'm at full lock my handle bar grip actually touches my leg so that's the feeling I'm waiting for, and I'm not so much worried about where I'm looking. I know if it touches my leg then its just a matter of leaning more to get the maximum turn. I've also found that what I can do in the parking lot I can't always do on the street with as much confidence so I'm practicing that a lot more too.

Here's an example of my bike going down. About 3 years ago I was taking a cloverleaf and right in the middle of the turn was some spilled oil. I saw it a little late and tried to stand my bike up, but no joy. I went down but kept my feet on the pegs and ended up only scraping up the right arm of my jacket and the pocket on my jeans. Somehow I scraped my knee but did no damage to my jeans. My feet and ankles suffered no damage.

@@randallking8622 I don’t know your age or what kind of shape you’re in, but I’m going to assume you already know the correct techniques to use to push the bike up. What I will say is usually there will always be people around that would be more than happy to help you, but if you’re practicing somewhere by yourself, I understand your concerns. However, I will say don’t let that be a reason not to practice because if you still choose to ride this motorcycle, it makes all the sense in the world to be proficient in this skill.
