Really helpful tips, with no relying on notes, and practice 30 times a day, or just improvising when you forget. I appreciate your videos! 🤘

Hi! First of all, the good news is that comics are already at an advantage as it's way easier to memorise something you've written than someone else's text. If you have to learn a script by heart, then sometimes I use this, website >> memorizer.me/ Also, you can record your own voice while you read your script and play that back on a loop. You can wear Bluetooth earphones and do other tasks. If you break up a 5 min script into smaller 1-2 min segments, that can help. And combine those chunks at the end. Why not even sing the words out to a popular tune? We learn songs all the time without actually committing them to memory. There must be something in that. The main thing I find is to mix it up the techniques, so your brain gets to tackle the text from various angles. Though once again, learning a text by heart can be individual, by all means, try it, but do try other techniques too!

Brilliant stuff Nee. All good points. I do however favor learning of jokes as your going to say them onstage. There is nothing wrong with any of your points at all. They're all great. But they're great for remembering. My point was that committing more practice to remembering the material as it's going to be delivered onstage will get you the desired results quicker. Breaking it up and remembering it in sections or singing phrases from the material gets you off the rhythm and feel of the piece in its entirety. Then it needs to be delivered on stage and the performer needs to figure out all over again where the funny is supposed to be. However your points are great for practicing and learning. And we all have ways in which suit us best. Many thanks.

Hi there. Can you please make a video about how to respond to collective groans? I wrote some kind of dark, punny jokes, and people are mostly groaning. What is this signifying and how can I turn it into sidesplitters? Much thanks in advance, Gary.

Thanks for commenting. Dark humour is difficult alright. I've been in your situation. It's possible you might benefit from this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXqUY6V9nJJ0p9U If the audience is groaning, it's never a good sign. Perhaps the dark jokes need a little tweaking to take such a hard edge from them. Ultimately its about making them laugh. I wouldn't urge you to drop the material. But trying it from different angles and seeing if you can take out the harshness. Hopefully, you get a few ideas from the video.

Great as always. Me and a few of my comedy friends are thinking about going up to Edinburgh Fringe next year. We’d all like to perform there. I’d like to see a vid with advice about how to get spots at the festival and the best way to enjoy it. Thanks.

Thanks Daniel. Indeed Edinburgh fringe is on the list of episodes to create. I'll bump it up for you and start working on it soon. I've got limited experience with that festival however I do have contacts with many performers who've been very successful at it. I should be able to come up with something very exciting. Perhaps multiple interviews.

I heard that memorizing pictures associated with the jokes can help with remembering your jokes.

Yes, very true. I've not done it this way myself, but it definitely works. In the end, it's really about finding what works for you. If it's pictures, then great. Finding what works is the hard part.theres no right or wrong way as long as it works. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks for commenting. I'm happy to help out all I can on KZbin but for now that's all I can offer. I've got too many other performance based jobs happening that need the majority of my attention. There will be much more content coming in a few days.
