I use spell dolls/poppets a lot, and have found that an EXCELLENT way to utilize them without anyone knowing any better is Origami! It's so easy to incorporate color magic, and there are so many shapes to choose from (I like to use butterflies for change, plant shapes for growth, birds for movement, etc.). I love leaving tips at restaurants as charged dollar bill butterflies (to bless the server with growth, transformation, and general positivity), and no one ever thinks anything about the hundreds of origami shapes and arrangements (get some glue and put several charged flowers together for a beautiful secret spell bouquet) that I have literally all over town!

You're *so* right about how to hide in plain sight... Triangular rock with wire & colored string? That's not a pendulum, it's a bookmark! Whispered incantation over coffee being stirred widdershins? That's not a banishing, I'm just thinking out loud! Sudden interest in multiple spices? I'm just trying to cook & eat healthier! (A really good side effect, BTW.) I'm still not sure what I'll say if a visitor opens my kitchen cabinet & finds my mortar & pestle, or jars of crushed eggshell, dried orange peel, etc. -- but I'm pretty sure I'll come up with something. :-) What's important to remember -- and you do touch on this -- is that one should practice in secret to save loved ones from being hurt, or from being ostracized or punished for following a particular spiritual path, or to maintain the peace in one's home... but no one should be practicing in secret out of shame. More power to you, and thanks for some of the most genuine, personable & enjoyable "witchy" videos on the 'Tube!

@@nairbvel hey, my mom used orange peels and lemon peels for cakes, pankakes and teas. So even if someone sees it, it's not really strange or unusual. And crushed eggshells are amazing as a fertilizer for garden fresh herbs like parsley, coriander, etc. So, even if someone sees a jar full of crushed eggshells, it's no big deal. I have a jar full of sulphur nasty yellow powder, and ironically, it can also be used to make acne soap, great for the garden soil pH, and can help greatly with some puppies skin disorders...

For Gen X, it is wonderful to see these things expressed in our culture more openly. Indeed when we were your age, it was not accepted, or always labeled as "Satan Worship". A friend of mine and I were talking recently about how proud we are of our children's generation, which seems so much more open and accepting of many ideas that were difficult when we were growing up.

For candles you can make your own colored ones with little white tea lights and crayons!! Carve out the wax but be careful about the wick, you're going to want to keep that intact. I’m a closeted witch because both of my parents are very Mormon. My mom says she’ll be a witch with me, but not the religious way, like, apothecary, herbs and garden. I have an altar in my bedroom, she doesn’t even know what it is. I said I was into witch craft. She said, you are lucky, when I went through my witchy faze I had to go to libraries and look for Wicca stuff, my mom thought I was crazy. And I was like, haha ain’t a faze mom. But she is pretty accepting of everything, my dad I haven’t mentioned it to because I’m scared of how he’d react. I worship Morrígan, and the Faye, and my mom says it doesn’t matter what religion I am as long as I have a good core, but I know she’s just saying that, thank you so much for making this video!

There's a lot of controversy around the "witch look" becoming a fashion thing. Sort of how people following organized religions must feel about religious symbols being worn as fashion items. Crosses, lotuses (you know the type) , trees of life( if you're an odinist, it could represent Yggdrasil, hands of Fatima (hamsa) . Little things like that...will be interesting to see what people make of it in the years to come.

As an altar I use a painting I made (with acrylics so that the color is bright and its very hard to wash away) representing the God and the Goddess (I basically painted a tree in the middle that to me represents the spirit, and then on the left side I painted a moon, on the right a sun). It looks just like a regular pretty painting, nothing witchy about it. Personally I just love it (its temporary so I consacrate it every time) I think that its the best solution for me

I think the acceptability of the craft really depends on location, when I lived in FL in the late 90s and early 00s and we definitely had occult sections in our big box book stores, but at the same time, I live in TN now and recently got dumped by a girl and called a demon once she spotted my altar and worked out what it was.

I can't tell you how much of a breath of fresh air this was to find. I was born into a pagan house that transitioned to born again christian so everything witchy was shunked out of my life pretty suddenly, so I haven't been allowed to practice for a good ten years or so now. I have found that sewing is also a great way to practice in secret as well as a nice practical skill. You can hide sigils in seams and even sew in secrets in the linings of jackets, pockets, or even bags. Not only that, but cross stitch and embroidery can let you work wonders too.

May be “popular” right now, I still practice in absolute secret, though my altar is right out in the open in my big bay window...most think the candles are just that...candles (most think it’s just a catholic thing) and my “supplies are kept in a pretty box, again in the open but no one knows what they’re for. Now....the darker stuff, that altar is in the basement, no one goes there. My sigils, man do I love those!!! This is a great video!! Basically what you said, I practice secretly in plain sight 😊

I bought my first Rider-Waite tarot deck at the General Store on Main Street U.S.A. at Disney World when I was 14 in the early '70s. Times were certainly different then. We were on our way to my grandmother's house for a visit and my Mom said "Just don't let Grandmother see them." Grandmother was a stern (second-generation German) Southern Baptist who didn't even allow regular playing cards in her house. I understood completely. 'Practicing in secret' is absolutely Traditional. No witches were actually burned in the United States but they were certainly executed by the Puritans. Spiritual descendants of the original Puritans are cdefinately still around and I'm sure you know a few personally. The 'cloak of invisibility' was real and for personal protection. A dark gray or black cloak that lets you vanish into the shadows in the dark can save you in a pinch.

I have a garden with herbs, I collect stones and sticks on my four acres and would gaze at the moon in wonderment before being drawn to become a witch. It isn't as much a practicing in secret thing for me, but a convenience thing for people who live in dorms or places they can't have candles, you can use those wax warmers too. I know they can be a bit pricey, but my mom gave me a couple Scentsy warmers, and I use those for some light candle magic. They're especially great for carving a sigil into and then melting to activate it...and then being able to use the wax again. Although, it seems to me as though the wax will eventually run out of energy, so if your spells with it start to seem like they're not working or backfiring, try changing out the wax.

Today I found out that I am secretly a practicing witch (of sorts). I've been driven by instinct and not formally trained. I drew sigils (directly or indirectly) everywhere for just about everything. I thought I was quite mad, but it felt so right so I kept doing it. I see auras/presences. I understood conversations begins even before you speak the first word. I dance to the flow of the air. I felt pulled by nature although circumstances limits my interactions thus far. Also living in a super conservative environment, so a lot of these things are kept mostly in secret. I guess my main way of connecting to the universe so far had been art. And through that I find myself going further and further into the world. Even then, I kinda weird people out with my rather bizarre art. Just so happened that I am working on a project that involves witches. Went off to do research and here I am, discovering something I feel so familiar with. Thank you for the beautiful videos

"Look at moon phases, they are everywhere," - I could thank Pink Floyd for introducing my parents to The Dark Side of the Moon album, a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece. 😉 Speaking of "haunting" and "beautiful", I have always felt drawn to Stevie Nicks, I find her very inspiring musically and spiritually. As for books... Personally I think the best way to keep things low profile is the Amazon Kindle app for phones and tablets. I travel a lot and have moved house so many times, keeping hundreds of books in a Kindle app makes my life and moving into new houses so much easier. I have only kept about 30 paperback books with me, no more.

I am very grateful and lucky that the majority of my friends are interested and think its cools, and even two of my friends parents are Wiccan and practice witchcraft. My whole family is religious so i practice in secret in my room, at schools, and anywhere i can without raising any eyes. I'm also a baby witch. like a few days old baby witch so im using what i can find and filled up half of my Grimoire of notes, rules, and how-to's out of an old small sketchbook, and filling it with all the info from your channel and other channels and searching things up. All i have right now is Rose petals from my front yard, salt, bay leafs, self-made sigils, and cinnamon. The making of your own spells is honestly really challenging right now but how to cast it can be even more difficult if you dont know what works, but my intentions are are fully clear. I have no candles, no crystals, no incense and no money of my own or a way to get some until im old enough to get and have a job, (which im going to be in about less than two months) but my friends whos parents practice witchcraft might be able to provide a little of that sorts. Dose anyone have any tips or tricks for making spells and casting? I know no body can directly give you them and walk you through it for every spell out there and i dont need that, just a little bit of guidelines until i start to understand what works best for me and what you can and cannot do. Is an altar the place you cast most spells? And how do you make one when you have little? Sorry i know that this is long and most people wont bother to read this far but i need some help. I dont have my own phone or computer with me because i got it taken a little over two months ago, so im on my moms computer so i have to be extra careful on what i look up and what i do. Your videos have really helped me in understanding and rules and how you can make things i cant thank you enough for it!!!! You and everyone whos made it to the end have a great day and a wonderful next day !

Judgment will come by society no matter what you do, so do what is best for you and don't worry about other people. I'm planning on making some spell videos like that soon! Best of luck to you~

I drew a pentacle on my wrist two years ago and got reported by a student. I was considered a satanic and evil. My teacher pulled me into the Hall and lucky me I asked to use the bathroom before hand so I already washed it off, hard! I confessed about Wicca and even told her to search it up. Society was okay with it but they weren’t and I felt like a monster. And this was when I was still a ‘in the womb” witch lol. Irrelevant but the next day, I cut in the same spot I drew the pentacle and the girl student saw, now, NOW, she keeps quiet and didn’t bring it up again except once the next year while whispering to another student.
