The song is about a true story of tourists in a cable car when it was overloaded and crashed, as the car plummeted to the ground a couple held up their small child to save him from the impact, the couple died not the baby the song was written and the composer later adopted the child. Dimash first heard this song when he was 10 years old, and being so close to his multi-generational family, he shook with emotion when he heard it. He sang this song in Chinese when he was on Singer 2017, and it is amazing because he had developed a severe throat infection and lost his voice 2 days before the taping of the episode. The doctor told him to avoid high notes after giving him 6 injections in his throat. They didn't help, so one of the other contestants who had become a good friend gave him some very expensive medicine where you only swallowed one drop. He used that, and just before he sang, his voice returned somewhat. He sang the song, changing a few things to avoid the very highest notes. It was beautiful. This video, which was filmed later that year, was after his voice had healed, and is much more intense. It is such a beautiful song. Dimash is the perfect singer to bring out the emotion in this song.

I think you should react to the 2017 Daybreak. It was SO HARD to listen to it, knowing he was so sick! Definitely worth the watch. The author of the song was very encouraging to Dimash at that time. Very sad and emotional. Dimash did the song proud!❤

Even though it's the same song it has a totally different feel to it... It's not as technically perfect as Dimash's performance from Bastau. But, I feel that, it's very emotional, raw and personal because of the backstory and him loosing his voice. You could actually see and feel the pain in Dimash's eyes while he was singing this song for the first time ❣❣❣

This was a cover, but Dimash connected with the backstory. The composer adopted the little boy who lost his parents and wrote the music based on the events of the cable car accident. This concert was given to him by his hometown as a welcome home and as a thank you for his huge success in China. 30. 000 people from all over the world took part. In preparation for the concert, Dimash worked so hard that he lost a lot of weight. His family was very concerned.... but the concert was great. It blows your mind! (Only via video). Dimash is also super passionate about family.😔 This is a cover sung in Mandarin. Story about a cable car accident where all the adults died but 1 2 year old child survived. He survived because his father held him up and cushioned his fall. The fountains on stage are because the accident happened in a valley in China, famous for its waterfalls. My favorite parts of this video are the screaming fans and the look of shock on the security guards face halfway through.😂😂 I also lost my mother about 5 years ago and have never got past her death. She was the only person in the world that I had total trust of in over 60 years. I discovered Dimash only months after her death. This song is of a real life accident. Where parents had to hand their child over to an unknown person to save his life as the cable car they were in hurtled down the mountain. His parents were killed. The lady who took the child, took him into her home and brought him up.

When you get to the his MV, The Story of One Sky, you will be moved, that I promise you. In addition to being a brilliant vocalist, he is also a fantastic composer and actor. The video is intense, and often hard to watch. It is about war and the need for people of different cultures, nationalities, religious beliefs etc to accept each other vs war etc.

This song makes me tear up as well. 😭 The lyrics are so beautiful and sad, and the fact that this is a true story and the boy was so little when he lost his parents and almost didn’t make it as well, makes it even more impactful! Many of Dimash’s Kazakh songs especially, like Samaltau, Daididau or Angel Love have a backstory and are worth researching before to understand the meaning and context of that song more. “Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

The song was written by Han Hong, a Chinese singer who won "The Singer" competition in 2015 (2 years before Dimash competed). Here is the link to her song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooPcZZWvftp8g80 When she heard about the cable car accident (happened in 1999), she was so moved by the story of sacrefice by the little boys parents, that she not only adopted the little boy, but then wrote the song as seen through his eyes. Dimash was 10 years old when he first heard the song and I read somewhere that he was so moved by the song that he could not stop trembling. When he competed in "The Singer", he called Han Hong to get permission to sing her song but the night he performed it had been so sick, losing his voice, having to go to the hospital and a doctor had to inject anesthetics into his throat to relax it to sing, and his voice only recovered shortly before his performance. It was not his best and he did not win that night. The veresion you picked is the best one, and you can see the emotion in his voice as the story still affects him. Thanks for posting your reaction!

Those names along the bottom of the screen are Kanat, his father, and Sveta, his mother, Aitbayev is their surname. I think Dimash has been named Kudaibergen perhaps from his Grandparents who moved in and raised him whilst his mum and dad still worked in music/government arts. Kazakh tradition is for the first son of the first son to be raised by grandparents to replace the son that gets married...something like that, so Dimash had 2 mothers, but thought his grandma was his real mum as he grew up., hence the very deep ties to her.

I appreciated your honest reaction and as others said there is a true story to this one. Dimash was so moved by the story and that he had to perform it. I hope you will check out the time her performed it on the Chinese Singer 2017 or the Story from Gloria Wu’s Channel. You should check out Olympico which he sings in Italian. The song is very motivating and was composed for Dimash to sing at the World Games in Minsk I believe.

He didn't write this song. A Chinese artist Han Hong did. Thankfully, Dimash's parents are alive and well. This song is based on a true story, though. In China, there was a cable car accident, leaving the 2 yr old boy an orphan. Han Hong saw this tragedy on the news and wrote a song about it from the perspective of the young boy. She later adopted the boy. Basically the father and mother hoisted their child above their heads to lessen the impact to him. I think the cable car dropped like 300 feet or some crazy number. Also the cable car was over capacity.

It`s not about his own parents, but describes a tragic accident, the children that survived was adopted by the singer Han Hong, who wrote this song from the view of the child. Sometimes it`s healing when you hear music, that deals with the losses or other problems in our lives. So don`t fight back the feelings that music evokes in you. Take this chance. Aloha Prada! There are videos where he plays like various instruments and a couple that has compilations of all the different instruments that he is able to play. Most are on his channel or LiLaSi channel. Gloria Wu’s channel has usually the back story of some songs.LiLaSi’s channel has a Dimash’s Ultimate Guide 1-12 and some other ones she put out of him.
