Hi Everyone - Jerry had started today evaluating and improving his Atomic Chess - i like his positional type of play - in atomic chess' closed positions pawns and open diagonals are the heart of explosive game :)

I learned a couple things here about B vs N. Breaking down P structures to increase B scope, and not leaving N an outpost with no central Ps. 😀

That was very well played. The loss of the c pawn and the subsequent d passer was the threat that tied black in knots. I have had a few OTB games where positions like this arise. My opponent gets so caught up in defending a threat that it opens new fronts.

Great game with classic principles applied. You did not mentioned the possibility of a blunder with 35....Nd3. This forking of the Queen and Rook leads to a nice mate in 6 for White 35…Nd3 36.Qxh5+ Kg8 37.Qxf7+ Kh8 38.Qh5+ Kg8 39.Bd5+ Re6 40.Bxe6+ Kf8 41.Qh8# or Qf7#

Why does not black play pawn to b6 instead of Queen on move 23? Thanks Jerry! All the best,
@arjunbhandari8076
@arjunbhandari8076 2 ай бұрын
Black's pawn to b6 also defends the a7 pawn but it leaves the Queen behind the pinned pawn. If white moved his d pawn then black's pawn would fall and white bishop's diagonal will open.

At the bottom of move 23, I would have thought that 23…PQN3 would have been more solid than the text 23…QN3; but it seems neither the engine nor Farouza agree with me. 😢 There were a couple of other places where Black, I thought (at a glance, admittedly) forewent possibly stronger moves. Anyway thanks Jerry.

I believe Wesley is still the classical WFRCC while Hikaru is just the rapid WFRCC. Q1 Why weren't the 'slow rapid' games in the 2019 wfrcc considered classical when they are 60min games and the minimum for classical is 60min? Q2 Why are the 2022 WFRCC games considered 'slow rapid', as in the same category for the 2019 wfrcc 60min games, when they are actually 32.5min games? What I understand is (0,10) = Blitz [10,60) = rapid [60,120) = classical but unrated if so and so conditions [120,infinity) = classical P.S. Wesley So on Lex Fridman xcdhgq P.P.S. Interview while imprisoned Qt0S8G_fUbE Pablo Mercado: So what is your advice to the Filipino chess players? Uncle Bobby Fischer: Filipino - My advice is to give up chess and take up Fischer Random. - 2004Oct11, 15 years before nephew Wesley So became the inaugural WFRCC in CLASSICAL time controls.

3rd: Vishy's better than TALENTLESS patzer Magnus if you look mainly at their classical WCs: Magnus: WCC: 2013 & 2014 - just beat old gen. 2016 & 2018 - Drew classical as defending WCC 2021 - cheated Nepo 2023 - quit; successor Liren only drew classical - (successor isn't just in that Liren won. Liren said initially that role models are Magnus Garry Veselin over Wesley Bobby Vlad. - Source: FlNsFKeq-iE - Based on 2024 freestyle, I guess those role models make you do good at chess but bad at 9LX. Lol.) WFRCC: 2019 - lost to Wesley and was 3rd place behind Nepo 2022 - rapid actually but again 3rd place Vishy: WCC: 1995 - Rightfully wins by forfeit since Garry cheated - Source: aaTUJFjMfyI 1996 - Drew anatoly karpov classical 2000 - Beat alexei shirov 3x classical games in a row. For 2 decades, this record stood - 3x classical wins in the finals or semi-finals of a knockout FIDE / PCA WC or finals of a FIDE / PCA KO until Wesley beat Magnus in 2019 WFRCC. - Btw in the same year for 2000 PCA classical WCC, Garry cheated Alexei. 2007 - 1 point ahead round robin. Never lost. 2008 - 2 points ahead. - Actually indirectly succeeded Bobby Fischer for the 1992 classical WCC 2010 - 1 point ahead. 2012 - Ok fine - drew classical as defending WCC but that's it. WFRCC: 1995 - 2012 - Hypothetically would win. I mean, who in Vishy's gen would've beat Vishy? - Actually maybe even up to 2014 since Magnus is TALENTLESS. Lol. Notes: 1 - Hence, Vishy rules while Magnus sucks, just took over the next gen and is a hypocritical cheater & TALENTLESS patzer like Garry. 2 - Nepo is like Vishy: 2a - In their 1st classical WCC, they lost because they were cheated. 2b - In their 2nd classical WCC, they drew in classical portion then lost in rapid tiebreaks. 2c - Vishy went on to become 5x classical WCC (6 including 1995) and would've been classical WFRCC. Nepo has been the top 2 classical 9LX player since 2019Nov, which for Bobby Fischer means Nepo, Wesley, Vishy rule while Magnus, Garry suck. Was curious and checked, Bxf7 is indeed a better move according to the engine. Probably low time, or maybe being up the exchange but having to give up the pawn didn't seem that appealing compared to the preparatory move played in the game
