PW is currently the best learning platform as far as BI is concerned, they have assembled the best Nerds in the field. The most interesting part is the passion with which those guys have for the subject. I have spent a lot on their platform and I can tell you that it is worth every penny. You basically pick up the materials and apply them to your job and you are fine, it is that effective. Mitchel and Manuel are my favorites

So, I have watched many Power BI / DAX tutorials, but yours is the tops! Sam McKay at Enterprise DNA is very good, but the way you describe how and why to do things and how measures works is just the best. I was one of the ones who always created a separate table/group for Key Measures, but your method of creating a folder for each table and putting the measures in the table outside the folder is brilliant and a lot more intuitive, since many times you're also using other fields from that table with the calculated measure. Just a superb course - thank you so much for this!!

I learned a lot from this great tutorial! Everything is crystal clear! Just want to point out that at 2:26:20 the YTD Sales doesn't match the Total Sales column because it has a filter which includes only weekday sales. I got confused at first and went back a few minutes and found the filter that he set in the YTD Sales measure.

As of today I’ve watched the first 45 minutes (calculated columns) about 6 times. Haven’t even gone further yet. After watching it each time I’ve gone back and played around with some of my own data and each time I have a bit of Eureka moment. Nowhere close to being DAX proficient yet, but if anyone is struggling to make sense of what Mitch is saying, keep persevering. It’s starting to make a bit of sense.

I can't be more thankful enough. I have been looking for something to practice what I had learnt from the DAX book and a few courses I have done previously. But it's all too complicated if you don't have examples to practice on. This video does just that, it gives me examples to work with. I know a lot of this stuff but I am never confident when it comes to applying these concepts so this is where this tutorial comes in handy. So in short Context transition is alternative for problems where we use related/relatedtable which can be confusing. It is like if you want that, functions like max work row by row in calculated column then just put it inside the calculate function then it will work in reverse. Means before with just max it was returning same repeated values but now the same expression when inside the calculate function it will work in reverse. So basically what will happen is the row filter(means it will work row by row) will get automatically added to the filter context of calculate. You will achieve the same output of using this MAXX(with relatedtable/related) by simply using calculate(MAX) in calculated column.
