I am a German student and we were never really educated about the Native American culture and all their differences and facets. I think it is so important to teach more about these cultures because we could really learn from them. 2020 and the majority of people still don't care about climate change or deny that its happening. Great video, thanks!!

Nice, nice, nice!!! “Indian,” Native American Pride must remain!!! Keep praying, keep seeking, keep learning, never succumb to a mindset of a weaker people group! Also, I so so love to hear the wisdom of Chief Seattle, the protection of the land, which has certainly proved true when abandoned, hence, “global warming” etc etc.

another great Indian Pride * Have enjoyed learning from these each week. I liked all the 4 speakers in the first part of this video very much as their attitude is humorous and proud. One Comment I should prob. give directly to Prairie Public is to correct the info below that the first speaker, Mary Campbell, is from the Hoopa in Cali but is cited below as a Seminole. I wonder what JuniKae and the rest of the producers are doing now? Are they working on another series or educational programming or music..? Curious ;)

Is this a myth I was reading in a book about the Chippewas it says that a baby's arms were kept close to its sides so that its fingers could not touch the Chippewa counted on their fingers and they believed if a baby's fingers touched it was counting out the days until it's death

This dancing does not look Native to me at all... rather Irish, as well in tune, dance and even instrumentation. How did that end up in the Native tribes repertoire?

I sure hope your show will strongly consider changing its title. As a Native person I detest the term "Indian" ! we're not "Indian" were not from India! we don't have red dots on our foreheads. We were told by foreigners and illegal immigrants that were "Indians". A lie that needs to end ! I do respect our elderly who do use that term, however as younger Native generations asserts their power and influence that term will fade away. I use the term "Native People" not Native American, kuz we never asked nor choose to be American. A fact we should always be very proud of ! Great show though! blessings to you !!

djano imissyoulikeigotarockinmyshoefre Native is anyone born in US. They may be Native however it is unreal for them to be American Indians when they themselves are migrants. So this is why these immigrants are classified as “native”, which is not original people of this land. Peace

Just a personal preference, but I refuse to use the term Indian because that name was given by Europeans who thought they arrived in an Asian country. I use either Native American or Cherokee when talking about myself. No judgment on those that use Indian to refer to themselves though.

Jews did the same thing, in the early 1400s the letter j was not part of Roman Greek alpha bet and there was no English nation then and the word really means Hue-ish, Hue means color and that's why they where black with white linen shirts symbolically but no, make me the person to sound like I don't know

Those dances the kids were doing were NOT!!! And I say this with pride NOT a native dance..natives did not dance to a violin. Being a enrolled member to a “REAL” tribe I feel that this channel and this program is giving false info about native when I comes to culture and heritage..
@fragolegirl20024 жыл бұрын
They said they were METIS dancers not native. Metis are mixed with native but also have European influence because they are not pure native. In Canada Metis are a separate group from the natives sort of like mestizos are a separate group from the Indians of Latin America

@@duaneholcomb8408 I’ve never said anything about indigenous peoples living like they were living back then...I’ve stated that indigenous culture did not dance like they were from Europe, you think natives were dancing in dresses and suits while tapping their shoes on the floor???, this is a colonized channel, please stop being illiterate and keep it pushing 🤣

it doesn't matter what color you are,, you don't have to have dark skin to be native american. i'm in between white ant tan and people look at me as white. that gets me really angry cause they are judging me.. its a shame what this world has come to.
@OVRSTIC5 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you!! (I’m also light skinned) But understand that other people from other cultures try to use my heritage as a costum or try to be something there not.. it’s frustrating when white peoples say they are native when there probably not..and social platforms use those “natives” to tell native stories or use them for native connections . I believe if you don’t know or live on a reservation or enrolled into a tribal government you are not 𝙉𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙑𝙀!!! Saying your native is wayyyy different from having native culture. I grew up knowing my tribal language and my cultural beliefs.. so I know what it’s like being native unlike other people saying there’re native and don’t know half if not any of my cultural.

We are not created from the same source of energy because if the people who raided the land believed that they would have not felt the need to use force, all that kumbaya shit is the result of guilt and not wanting to admit the truth And whoever the nation of people who did it will have to pay for what there ancestors did

I have got to say being of native myself, let's be honest. The majority of the people shown here either have one parent that is white or a white grand parent none of these people have direct indian features. Their features are more european than aisan, I should know I am cherokee and seminole. When the europeans first arrived real natives did not look european. The mixing came later. We come in a variety of colors, but there is a lot of white mixture in this crowd.
@OVRSTIC5 жыл бұрын
Vickie Williams exactly!!, society platforms choose to put lighter skinned natives in these kinda things because they don’t want native to speak the truth about history or truth about native culture. White people use my culture as a benefit and try to make profit off of it.

We are not Native Americans this place was called Akwatah before Roman, Greek, Spaniard and Italian raiders of continents, real Indians will never forgive anyone who wears your face and you do not decide when we feel the need to be upset or forgive in which will never happen. Everytime I hear or see a Caucasian person down play it, I WANT TO GET RID OF YOU THE WAY YOUR ANCESTORS DID MY PEOPLE, THERE IS A STATUE OF LIMITATIONS ON THAT, BET YOUR ASS

Nathan Glover Roman civilization collapsed a 1000 years before European arrival in the Americas. No idea what the Greek and Italians have to do with native Americans since it was the British and French that colonized North America while the Portuguese and Spanish colonized South America.

There is no such thing as Cherokee indian, do not give a new name to the result of what happens after a continent of people are raped period, that's real pride, it's like a Puerto Rican saying that he is %100 of his Nation when you was created by the result of European invasion, if you knew this then you would speak in sequence of event as it came not like it started with you
