I am a Belgian citizen so I never heard the term shout music. I do know the culture surrounding african american churches. But only today I learned about the concept of praise breaks. But I find it interesting to know how the music works! It's really cool! :)

YES! I attend a wonderfully lively church where shouting is frequent. I've been looking for ways to break out of that "8 note box" you spoke of, so this video is right on time! Let the Lord continue to use you! 👍

I'm glad that I purchased the Shout Bump Bass Course because it has helped me to develop some additional vocabulary. The good thing about it is that you can replay it as much as you want. That's exactly what I have been doing. It's a challenge but it's worth the investment if you're serious. That's my two cents.

I love to study Shout music, and in my own time I love to play shout music when I’m really in the mood for something that’ll get me feeling good from the depths of my soul while also testing me as a musician. I’ve not had the pleasure to play a gig but I can only imagine it would be a joy 😁

Started playing bass in church in early 2021. I’ve played just a bit of shout music. It’s difficult for me because we never get together to rehearse, and since I’m the newest musician with the group, I’m not used to all of the on the fly changes that come up.

As I stated in the video, this is an excerpt from a course that I have on my website. As a beginner, you are responsible for learning foundational elements that I am referencing in this video like the number system and other foundational elements like knowing your fretboard… This video was merely a piece of a larger puzzle geared towards helping people to navigate this small part of playing shout music. If you are a beginner and you’re having a hard time keeping up, this might be a great indicator to you that there’s more work to be done on the foundational side of things.

If a white boys got the chops, do you think he could make it into a black church and place shout music? Have you ever seen a white boy play shout? asking for a friend
@JermaineMorganBass4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It's not limited to color... Exposure is everything... Just like speaking. If you're around someone who talks a certain way, you begin to pick up on it. I've just created a course that allows people to be exposed to the culture.

@@JermaineMorganBass Thanks for the advice. I believe I have the chops now just to find the churches in Knoxville that play that type of music
