Thanks for sharing the benefits of Kumbhak or breath holding but scientifically and based on classic yogic text I want to point out something from practitioners view point 1. Lungs and blood has enough oxygen unless someone has CPOD or lung issue 2. So the issue is how to transfer oxygen to the cells and that is the focus of Pranayama technique 3. No one can hold breath in the abdomen as said in the video ; air is held in lungs so it is felt in the chest expansion 4. Abdomen has to be held tight and in Pranayama you breathe from chest and not belly ; it is controlled breathe 5. We often breathe from nose and mouth and it is wrong way to breathe - we have to train to breathe from nose - produces NO nitric oxide that produces vasodilation and expands the lungs and blood vessels: so except for cooling pranayma most of it is done from nose 6. Sequence is AnulomaViloma and then kumbhak pranayma and not the other way around 7. AnulomaViloma cuts the oxygen supply by half and that is the way to train for kumbhak so you do Nadi shodhana and then do kumbhak 8. If you get dizziness you are doing it wrong it is hyper ventilation the objective is to train the body slowly for kumbhak - respiratory Centre in the brain is sensitive to CO2 ; so slowly train to 1:4:2 ; not randomly hold for 30 secs 9. It is important to balance oxygen and carbon di oxide as CO2 produces vasodilation so slow breathing is recommended and not exhale through mouth as shown in video because more CO2 will be exhaled which upsets the balance So exhale through nose slowly in the ratio of 2 times inhale 10. Kumbhak is training the brain ,Mind and nervous system to increase carbon di oxide sensitivity not adhoc practice like this and has to be done with Bhandas locks in a classical way 11. It has to be learned systematically so that lungs and nervous system is not damaged the nerves in eye and ear region are delicate and Jalandra bhandha or throat lock is done to protect I did not want to comment but this video is wrong in so many fronts ; so I decided to put in comment from a trained serious Pranayama practitioner view point for social cause to prevent people doing wrong practice. yes for someone who has not done anything there will always be benefit in doing breathe work - Pranayama is an advanced science and has to be learnt and understood correctly and scientifically.

I have seen so many videos on meditation and breathing exercises. But the way you explained it was soo enlightening. I never knew the reason behind holding of the breath. 😦 So never gave that much of importance to it while doing meditation. But now it gave me an another level enlightenment. The most important part is holding of the breath the key is that. Really thank you 😊👍 from now onwards i will follow all your videos and content. Because giving indetailed information on every asana is so so important. Once you know the knowledge and reason behind it.. it becomes more easy in doing it. 🙏

TLDR: stand up straight and tall, or sit, breathe through your mouth and hold it, now the hard part if you have weak abdominal muscles you need to move the breathe from your throat or head or chest and move it down to your belly. What helped me was touching my belly to feel the muscle and sensation when you move the air in there. An then breathe out. Got the light headedness instantly but psyched myself out of it cause was scared. But I experience it a lot through yoga and know I’ll confront it eventually

Thank you for this. Priceless. As an older woman working to get back to the work force after raising kids ... Really need this. Will send to my kids too. Any suggestions on how to get them to listen? :(

Thanks Master. However, I have a question; when we inhale through the nostrils, the air will be filtered so some small dust particles or viruses will be blocked. But if we inhale through the mouth the air goes straight in without being filtered. Why should we still inhale through the mouth? Thank you.

You are wrong. You should not inhale through mouth. You should inhale through nose to purify the air naturally. The capacity of lungs increase only when you inhale through nose. Don't misguide people with your half knowledge. Note : occasionally we inhale through mouth to cool our body that is different practice for a purpose.
