Here is what most are missing. And I could be wrong but highly doubt it. Oscar’s buddy was not just panicking because of the injury. He was scared to take him to the hospital. He told him in Spanish, “If you don’t get up they will take you to the hospital and you know you can’t go there.” Oscar was probably undocumented and his buddy feared the questions that would arise at the hospital and was trying to drive that point home without being obvious. He led Oscars answers to the questions and tried to play it off as nothing major. The hospital probably wouldn’t have questioned or reported his undocumented status but it’s a risk many people here illegally are not willing to take. Just goes to show the extent people will go to stay in our great country. I’m not saying this as a jab against the young man or his buddy. I was born in Guatemala and my parents worked very hard to legalize our status here so it’s just a perspective that many people born here might never comprehend. I’m not condoning what his buddy did but can see why he did it, ontop of the natural instinct to panic.

Wow!!! I’m an ex EMT-I who left the paramedics and fire dept in 2004 with some PTSD problems from bad calls. Seeing his friend shake him like that made me have a sick feeling. (I know he probably didn’t realize the dangers, but I’ve seen it first hand). Around 2002 I ran a call at our local MX track where I guy went from no feeling in his legs to having to be intubated and manually breathed for before flying him to Birmingham, Al to UAB Hospital. It hit hard for me as I was born into MX as my uncle was 70’s factory pro Furman Gray. Seeing that guy like that with C spine fracture was just another bad call that broke me. Guys please don’t move a rider if they are breathing. You can take a CPR class and learn to hold CSpine until the Medics arrive. But one tiny fracture can turn deadly with that type movement his friend was doing. Just keep their airway open and call 911.

Just stumbled on this while looking for a way to balance my tubeless moto tires, not trolling. YES!! good call above!! Yep! Can't rely on bystanders to remain calm, no fault there. This guy bought him self c-spine stabilization, rescue breathing with O2, if needed, and immediate 911 call for the pros. No need for prolonged discussions and field assessments. This guy is symptomatic for high spine injury and / or severe head injury who could have deteriorated quicky to cerebral herniation and death. Who knows!? Maybe he did! Pray not. Signs and symptom of subdural hematoma type head bleed are: a period of unresponsiveness, changing to a period of lucidness, then unresponsiveness again, then death, Always assume the worst until proven otherwise. Anyone with a c-phone could have made the call... This is the kind of video used in training of what NOT to do. Best thing to do at this point for your comrades is take the American Heart Association Heart Saver / 1st Aid class. Good Luck! Make another 1st responder out of you... All the best... back to tire balancing... any tips?? 🙂

Totally agree, Ex Race marshal, rallye and hillclimbs sections in Italy. We got so many that where over reacting or even under reacting on similar situations, but luckly no majour damage on the end, biggest one was a ferrari with stuck throttle taking down half a small hill and land on the roof. I was one place under where it happened and we rushed in, of the marshals i was the one with the longest arm to reach in to feel his pulse before the paramedics arrived and firefighters with pneumatic scissors to take him out. Dude the guy that was shaking him did almost everything wrong. I knew that when the camera guy got back to the injured guy something else would be wrong, like he already had the guy sitting up moving his neck around. I never realized the importance of health class in high school until now because clearly this other dude had no idea what to do.

Hey! I just got here because of this video in recommandation(I really don't know why, but I don't care), and I already "fell in love" with your channel! I like how whatever the situation, you always stay calm, even in a situation like this. I appreciate that. I never really was into that kind of stuff, but now that I saw your channel, I watch most of the video starting by this one. I do have a KZbin channel too, but I'm not popular at all(161 subscriber), and I just do some gaming. I wanted to thanks you for what you do, and to never give up. Believe me or not, but your channel will become way more popular than you think. Peace!

Kudos to you for immediately turning around to check on the guy, then going for help. I've seen crashes similar to that where i stopped like you did and others just blew past without even slowing down basically like they're saying "Sucks to be you, not my problem". Helmet off to you bro 👍👍👍👍

You did awesome bud, I've had to deal with similar shit, sadly unconscious people do look dead when you roll up on them. This brings back bad memories but keyboard warriors need to know that this is what can happen and making good decisions helps the injured the most (I had to get help and leave them both, no phone coverage, like you I was thankful the campground was close and I went crazy and got help)

I had been through the same thing, went to sleep, woke up not knowing where i got the gear i was wearing " because it was new and lost the memory " broke my collar bone didnt even notice untill 30 mins after i started to walk around, laughed a bit at first about being so out of it but as i was being driven to the hospital my head was swelling and i started to pass out again and vomited inside the truck, woke up in the hospital bed, bad concussions are very very scary , it took me a few days to remember where i got the new red fox gear i was wearing, i said it was ugly as hell who put this gear on me.

My dad had an very simular situation the day before this video was published. It was really scary expecially because it was only me(17) and my little sister(10) with my dad out on a very small mountain in very hard terrain. And my little sister panicked so was really hard for me to calm her down meanwhile my dad laying down and shaking and being passed out.

As a current EMT I can the way he was tossed around could have made a really bad day worse!. He needed EMS to strap him to a backboard w/C-Collar while maintaining his airway. By lifting his head and pushing forward not only could he have caused significant spinal damage he also could have closed his airway. Obviously, there was no one trained on the scene to take appropriate care of him so i would put zero blame on his buddy and fellow riders.

These people know absolutely nothing about first aid. Shaking him around like that is absolutely the worst thing they could have done.
