You should switch the positions of the dual laser and the beam. If your weapons get damaged, the beam will then be first depowered. If you didn't switch, the dual lasers will be depowered. The beam will then be useless due to shields

pravus, you need to have a diverse crew as much a possible, having and engi crew, gives you an option during the 2 engi "smashed" ships, this is why having one of each race crew sometimes gives you the best outcomes from almost any event. And the "human" mantis is a safe event, having a human talking to it, results in another crew member

Cloak after the first shot is fired......you are taking far too much damage from cloaking right away especially from missiles. They fire - you cloak and their weapon charge is paused whilst you dodge the shot.

The idea he was running on in the early zones was Cloak to guarentee you get the 1st shot to disable their weapons - Both ways work in early zones

@@bengrogan9710 all good except cloaking after they fire is far more likely to be successful when you take evasion chance of the AI into account for chance to hit first time.

Hey Pravus, I really enjoyed the first episode of this because I'd never seen it before, but now that i have seen every episode you have uploaded (went back and binged on them all) I have to say, this is one of my favorite series' ever, watching the gameplay is excellent, and you can see the learning curve from the first game, to now, Keep up the good work :)

A lot of things are done wrong. 1. Priorities your weapon, the most left one is the last to lose power, and should never be a beam weapon as it can't damage shields. 2. Always heal up your crew before a jump, your dangerously low on life all the time, one lucky hit and you lose a guy. 3. Never vent your rooms if you got no crew on doors, as it can hurt you and the doors are no hindrings for the enemy then. 4. Never in a fight move the pilot unless you have an autopilot, and even then it's iffy. As the enemy almost always will hit you then. 5. Buy extra power as it's better to have in case you are in a nebula, you get more to move around with. 6. Maximizes your beam placement, a lot of time you miss one or two rooms of extra damage. It only need to hit the room a little so be creative. 7. Get Zoltan's on most main components like shields, engines and weapons. It's 3 extra power you would have you don't need to pay for, so almost two free shield levels, it's worth it.

PS. 8. Always mind control the pilot, it drops there evasion chance from 50-60% to 10% in most cases.

I probably would go with replacing the minibeam just because you have more shield piercing power and that's getting to be an issue. also hack the enemy engines or pilot to kill evasion, hurts them a hell of a lot more than hacking their shields.

Watching this, if you decide to do the modded harder version then I suggest to get the quality of life mod that shows the lines where the rebels move to each round, letting you plan the max jumps each sector which will help immensely plus you could use it on normal runs it you don't think it's cheating.

When you have mind control, and the enemy have boarders, wait for them to board your ship then use mind control. This means that one of the enemies will help your crew fight off the boarder, and since they're on your ship they can't run back to their medbay to heal up once mind control wears off.

Any ship can fire while cloaked. It reduces the amount of time you stay cloaked every time you fire. The stealth weapons augment makes it so firing your weapons doesn't reduce your cloak time.

I just tried out the Captain's Edition mod. It's really good if you're getting tired of the base game since it introduces a bunch of new mechanics, but it's more difficult.

For the scenario with the 2 engi ships you needed a engi crewmember for a blue option I believe. It might lead to unlocking a new ship

Good choice with the Hacking. It's by far the best system in the game. One less-known thing: Hull Lasers travel faster than other lasers.

I just finished a medium run on the same ship. I ended with flak 1, chain laser, and halberd and 2 defence 1 drones. and I won :)and I am probobly worse then most people on ftl ^^ edit: I had lot of boring fights. where I Wasnt able to over come the shields. edit 2: I also had mind control which did help ..unless it was a drone

if your mind control the enemy pilot it reduces (if not removes completely) their dodge chance. Also pay more attention to your systems power XD, almost lost all to low O2 levels. your silly :-P

Pravus, manning a station does NOT count as it being at the higher level for the purpose of events. There was no way that you could've unlocked the mantis cruiser this run.
