Prayer for Ukraine (Молитва за Україну) - One-man choir

Prayer for Ukraine (Ukrainian: Молитва за Україну) is a patriotic Ukrainian hymn published in 1885, which became a spiritual anthem of Ukraine. It gained national significance when it was performed by mass choirs during the Ukrainian War of Independence in 1917-1920. The hymn was intended to be an official spiritual anthem of Ukraine. It has closed sessions of oblast councils, and has been performed at major national functions. Prayer for Ukraine was performed in Kyiv in 2001 during a parade celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ukraine's independence. It has been part of church services internationally, in response to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Oleksandr Konysky wrote a patriotic poem from in 1885 in Kyiv, at a time when the Imperial Russian government suppressed the use of the Ukrainian language. The melody and a choral setting were written by Mykola Lysenko, a composer who inspired a Ukrainian national school of composition.

The "Ukrainian War of Independence in 1917-1920" was noted for vast massacres of the country's Jews. It is now another generation and all of that is in the past, but please don't that period with reference to Ukraine. Use Poland instead -- The Polish leader in that war was very kind to ethnic minorities.

I have both Russian and Ukrainian friends who share their stories with me, so I do understand many Russian people are also victims of this war. The fact remains: the Eastern part of Ukraine is currently being destroyed, and people there need the help now. This isn't about picking a "side".

к сожалению, войну начала россия. к сожалению, война идет 8 год, и обычных жителей россии она мало беспокоила. к сожалению, большинство россиян поддерживают войну. к сожалению, первую неделю, когда запреты как таковые и уголовные наказания отсутствовали, милионных митингов не наблюдалось. к сожалению, воюет не только путин, но и сотни тысяч граждан рф. так что да, в россии есть адекватные люди, есть люди, которые делают многое, чтобы остановить войну - они молодцы, и мир им благодарен. но "обычными" их вряд ли назовешь, они - адекватное меньшинство. и да, сравнивать отсутствие инстаграмма и снесенные под 0 дома - так себе занятие в плане человечности.
