Excellent video. I used to hang out and watch a friend tint windows all the time and know the importance of shrinking the film. However I never understood the fingers part. Thank you for clarifying factory edge and taking the time to show how the fingers happen. After about 4 videos yours really cleared things up!!

Thank you!! I managed to mess up twice now on a small curved back window and wasn't understanding why I was getting those finger air bubbles... I will now use your method to hopefully conquer this window without any more problems. To the point and explained what you were doing... Wish more videos out there were this clear.

1:Can you shrink the tint after you take the liner off? 2: is there a difference between ceramic & carbon when it comes to shrinking? Great video btw!
@InstallProz5 жыл бұрын
You wouldn't be able to shrink the tint the same way we do in this video if you remove the liner. You wouldn't be able to shrink it as much either. Yes, there is a difference in shrinking the two different types of films. Carbon, in general, will be easier to shrink.

Liner facing you, you will be shrinking that instead of the tint. Or is it so you won't burn or over shrink the tint, safer and slower?
@InstallProz6 жыл бұрын
jim davidson thanks for your question! The liner is facing you so that you don’t scratch the tint while you are carding it. The heat transfers through the liner very well, so it allows the film to be shrunk. If you are going to buy a pre cut kit, check out our site. www.installproz.com

I’m a bit confused... So if you don’t really have any fingers should you create some or were you just doing that as an example?
@InstallProz5 жыл бұрын
If you don't have fingers when you use your hard card to squeegee the tint to the window on the outside, you dont need to worry about it. If you have fingers that form after you have squeegeed the film to the outside of the window, you should shrink the tint before removing the liner and applying the tint to the inside of the window. Most vehicle on the market today have enough curve in the window to require that the tint be shrunk at least a little bit.

Do all precut window tint films need to be shrinked?
@InstallProz3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, but it's a good practice. The amount of curvature in the window is really what dictates where you need to shrink it or not. It will make tinting easier if you just shrink each pattern.

Will it work if you don't heat shrink it ?
@InstallProz5 жыл бұрын
If there is little to no curve in the window, you don't need to shrink it. The more curve there is in the window, the more important it is to shrink the tint before installing it.

I had to look up the word "unna" in the dictionary. It didn't exist. However, "upspeak" was also in the same section, and there was a footnote that it's for girls under 15 to use when trying to keep the attention of their easily-distracted friends.

@InstallProz6 жыл бұрын
SAYEDRAHMAN AZIZI you are probably right; it just depends how the pattern was cut on the roll of film. The film will only shrink to the factory edge. The factory edges on your pattern may be on the sides.

I tried some cheap ebay tint for fun, and I noticed that it doesn't seem to wrinkle up in the same nice zig-zag pattern you got with your tint. Are cheap tints generally harder to shrink.
@InductiveExperiments7 жыл бұрын
I have bought tint on eBay several times, and in this videos situation, the film just creases and pulls together instead of creating any sort of zig zag pattern when heat is applied. Basically impossible to shrink. Pretty much what any thin plastic would do naturally when it gets hot. Plus the tint never slides around very well on the glass like when you're trying to move fingers around. I can't find a place to buy tint where I'll know it's decent quality. They all say good quality of course.

Always heat shrink tint?
@InstallProz3 жыл бұрын
It's a good practice to heat shrink every window; however, you can get by without shrinking some windows, it really just depends on how curved the windows are.

Can u do it with out a heating gun

Install Proz okay what if I got them per cut do I still have to wet my window or I can just stick them on with Out wetting it up to stop all water bubbles and I don’t need to blow dry it because I can make the sun do that and that other text was way off asking to much question in one lol
@InstallProz6 жыл бұрын
Sha Money even if you have a pre cut tint, you will still need to wet the windows to install the window film. Most generally, pre cut kits don’t come pre shrunk, so you would likely still need to shrink the film before installing it. I hope this answers your questions.
@Not_nice7186 жыл бұрын
Install Proz one more question okay I got the per cut and it fit the window and everything is shrunk to the right size and when I try it with baby shampoo and clean it good then I add water To it and put it on Boy or Boy it gave me so much bubbles I was thinking my windows was in a bubble bath 🛀 lol but I was thinking can I just put it on with out the water and clean the windows good and then stick it on slowly how bad that sound because I don’t have a heat gun and it’s hard to dry the water out with out that heat gun and trying to get the water out with a heat gun it’s very nasty bubbles and water wet line. Because the per cut customize for my windows so will that be a problem but I don’t have to cut nothing just put it on I wish u was a round the corner so u can see what I’m doing wrong and what I’m doing rite and thanks for being a good KZbin buddy to reply back because I have a HR-V 2018 suv forgot to tell u that so I don’t have a car and after I get the tints down pack for a second try I wan work on changing my head lighting because traveling with they head light and beam light sucks I need to find a Best good head and beam light that’s strong enough to see from far
@InstallProz6 жыл бұрын
Sha Money it sounds like you are talking about installing the window film while the window is dry. If that is the case, no, you don’t want to do that. Spraying the window and tint with the baby shampoo and water is what allows the window tint to be positioned correctly and it is what helps you get the air pockets out from behind the film.
@jasonmorehouse37565 жыл бұрын
so you always say 1 oz or 1 tablespoon... which is it? there are 2 tablespoons in an oz
@InstallProz5 жыл бұрын
You can use 1 to 6 ounces of baby shampoo. How much you use really depends on how hot it is and how much slip you want. 1-2 table spoons generally works great. If after installing your first window pattern, you decide you need more slip, just add a little more baby shampoo to your solution.
