Aerating is great, especially this time of year when it’s growing vigorously

What kind of product do you recommend for adding carbon to the soil? I love your channel, I’m new to centipede as I am now down on the NC coast as opposed to the central piedmont area where I grew fescue. Keep the videos coming, thanks!

I really like Humic DG from The Andersons. The videos should have links to recommended products in the description at no extra cost. I also like Carbon Pro G. I like the granulars for carbon because you are getting more down than liquids. Thanks for watching! Videos are coming soon!

I applied Celcius (a blanket application) just over a week ago to my front and back yards. Weeds were everywhere in my lawn. The lawn looked great when it was fully dormant, then any hint of warm weather and the weeds start coming in heavy. It's a slow process, but most all the weeds are wilting away. Might require a second app for spot spraying once all this cold weather finally passes. The grass is looking healthy and very green despite the past two nights of 30 degree temps in coastal GA.
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Good to hear you are green already! Usually doesn’t happen for me til last week of March
@PatrickWitherow2 жыл бұрын
@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare Yeah, we had some temps in the mid-80's for about a week or longer. That really set things off and some good rain. Then it turned really cold quickly! One reason I don't fert until around the 2nd week of May. Get all the cold weather out until temps are warm and stable.

What rate did you apply your Celcius? Did you use a surfactant?
@PatrickWitherow2 жыл бұрын
@@lja1665 It was the medium rate. Can’t remember the exact measurement. I did not use a surfactant. Weeds are dying!

Spectracide Weed Stop for Lawns. I think I link to it in the description of the video or your local Walmart may have some. Thanks for watching!!

Any post emergent advice for poa annua? I am in southern Louisiana and my lawn is currently full of it. I don’t believe weed free zone targets poa annua, but have been told image herbicide will.

Atrazine knocks it out really well. It will take 2-3 weeks to see results but it works. See my atrazine video for details.

I really like the granular options because you are putting more down and it’s just easier in my opinion. Really like Humic DG by Anderson’s and also Natural Guard by Fertilome. Check out the humic video I did last year. 👍

Are you planning to use any organic fertilizers this year?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Yes actually unless I change my mind. But I’m leaning toward going organic this year because of the long term benefits and I’ve seen good results in the past.

Hey man, I just watched one of your videos from last year about how to get centipede to fill in bare spots. You said now consistently to about 1.5 inches, and no pre emergent. My question is how do you control weeds (crabgrass/clover)? I do crabgrass pre emergent every year. And I’m thinking of having Ensec do top dressing. I’m in Mobile, AL btw.
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Atrazine is good to apply this time of year. Upcoming video. It has pre and post emergent properties. You can check out the vid I did last year on Atrazine. Also Fertilome Weed Free Zone is a great broadleaf weed control for Centipede. Thanks for watching!

What do you think about an application of ironite during the transition. Cenipede is starting to green up but we suppose to drop to 20 degrees this weekend in upstate South Carolina. Probably setback green up.
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Yes I honestly don’t think you would see much results yet with the cold temps still in play. That would be better suited for April- May
@cajunjames5252 жыл бұрын
I'm in Southern Louisiana what are you using to kill the POA...And do you have a Facebook page to follow
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Atrazine does a fantastic job of killing the poa. But wait til after the lawn wakes up or it will set it back. I like the hose end application. See my vid on Atrazine. I have an Instagram page! Please follow along! Thank you
@honestal20062 жыл бұрын
I've had good results with a late fall application of the pre-emergent herbicide, prodiamine, tank mixed with simazine. If any of the Poa does manage to germinate in January or February, they are usually so few that I just pull them out by hand. Both Atrazine and Celsius will have some post emergent activity on Poa but I find the results are not dramatic. I end up suppressing the growth of the Poa until the summer heat finally takes it out.

@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare thanks for the reply. After a little further research and reading some other comments, I think I have poa. It’s mainly near the traffic areas (edges of driveway). It seems to be thick but very light so the mower likes to push it over. At that point in the year, is it best to wait a few months for a post emergent?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
Atrazine is great on poa. Wait until about late April or May to apply. It won’t show results overnight but it will definitely be wiped out after 2-3 weeks

So if we want to use the humic dg with fertilizer when is the best time to apply? Or should we do just the humic dg and then later use it again with a fertilizer?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
You can do either, but I would go ahead and apply Humic now and maybe every 4-6 weeks to build the soil. You can apply same day as fertilizer, it won’t hurt anything, only help. I usually don’t fertilize until May 1, well after the grass has greened up naturally. Thanks!
