You have outdone yourself with this restoration. The end result was excellent. As an aside, I'm amazed by the designs and the number of parts in these old models, something that we no longer see in the combinations of plastic and electronic chips that are supposed to be toys today. Congratulations for developing our interest in "winding back the clock" to the way things used to be.

I get lost down the rabbit hole watching these videos at night. Not only is the restoration incredibly impressive but you can't help but wonder about the historical aspect of it all. The design, engineering, and production of the train. What might it have cost and how many were made? You wonder about how it may have been a gift to a small child, and how they're likely no longer with us. You think of how many items like this were lost to history, and marvel at its renewed life thanks to your remarkable restoration skills. I watch this and am filled with a sense of both loss and hope. Incredible work.

@@vicferrari9380 Toys hold no more meaning today. Because they can be done cheaper and way more stupid than before, because children today are stupid. And that stupidity is what fuels today society. Children have always been the fuel of society. They don't care about quality, they just want things as stupid as it can so that they can be fooled with them and use them as long as we want, for those are our life sources. Is because of them why companies have lost their touch

@Jackson Holloman that's kind of what I came in to say, it's not through the fault of the workers that popular toys have no pride in them, it's just the way things are now. People don't even make toys a lot of the time anymore, they just run the machines that make the toys

I really enjoy your restorations. If I may propose, that you consider sponge blasting, instead of electrolysis and scraping, on thin and delicate materials. Also diluted rust remover might be helpful in the beginning, as far as loosening stuck rusted parts is concerned. Finally I would definitely recommend powder coating instead of an airbrush, for a far superior aesthetically result! :)
@TheFabrik2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nikos and thanks a lot for watching and also commenting ! The metal sheet is so thin, sandblasting really hurts the metal. Regarding the powder coating painting, don’t you think it will be too tick ? I’m afraid it will cover the labels... I should try.
@nikospapageorgiou572 жыл бұрын
@@TheFabrik as far as powder coating is concerned I know there are various types and sizes of powder particles that produce either thicker or thinner paint layers. Watching your video is very inspiring. You bring a 1935 JEP model back to glory. The loco 5772L (Luxe) was depicting a 2D2 shortened to a 2B2 as we say in France as it was used on the Midi and Paris-Orleans companies (an electrified RR network south-west of France). It was the top range of JEP in company of the Flêche d'Or (Golden Arrow) a 231 Steamer to service "Boat Trains" between Paris and London. The model was in production until 1940 until war forced JEP to switch to war production (Helmets I think). The strong hook coupling is typical of the 30s by Jeb as before it was the "Effiloché" coupling The model was "Tous courant" meaning it could run on DC and AC power. For DC operation, instead of using a transformer, a rheostat using carbon lead bulbs in series was used. Running direction could be changed remotely (special rail needed) an exclusivity on these top range models Merci beaucoup et bonjour de Paris. The JEP SIF-UNIS factory in Montreuil (east of Paris) operated from 1909 until 1964 when the Montreuil plant was shut.

Impressive work on this pretty complex model. In real life these engine were also pretty complex, as the driving mechanism were gears placed outside of the body (the outside weights on the model depict it). The real ones were not 2B2, but 2D2 (4 driving axles), and 501 was the prototype and first produced of this class of very early electric locomotives. One still runs as of today, maintained by enthusiasts.
