Preach touched on it, but it's knidof important: If you're reading this and you've never played a warlock, note that you should be casting between each Hand, always. You can use the time to get CD's up or re-DoT or restore mana, and you'll still have double Shadowflame stacks Example: HoG>Shadowbolt>Shadowbolt>HoG or, HoG>Corruption>Life Tap>HoG. Getting almost the full duration of 1 stack before adding the second will optimize the amount of fury you gain while also maximizing the damage from the spell. It's nit-picky, but it really does help!

+Focusedfelix I normally do HoG, two shadow bolts or soul fires (depending on Molten Core procs) before casting the 2nd HoG. Because of the delay after casting HoG before it hits, this can be very hard to manage.

Solid guide for someone starting to learn Demonology, but I feel like a couple of things were left out that are important options to realize you have. -Demonic Leap is an incredible option for movement. It's faster than Burning Rush by a ton, and has a short cooldown. The small fury cost is well worth it, and it can be easily woven in with a Touch of Chaos if you need to continue moving after the leap. ~90 fury is not hard to regenerate, and you can generally resume casting faster if you just leap to your new position. -Maybe I missed it, but there's also a consideration on whether to Hand of Gul'dan or Chaos Wave in AoE, with the same consideration as what form to use Cataclysm in. Hand of Gul'dan deals more damage if it can fully tick through. But if everything is going to be bursted down in ~

BTW doom guard cripple CAN be good in some situations! It seems he forgot to mention, at Flamebender, he can slow the small wolf for HUGE amounts, allowing everyone in your team to just burst down the small wolf without having to kite it around... I use it for my team and it generally works wonders to not have to move at all, not much DPS is lost there either as you're allowing another player to cast spells/heal instead of having to run away from a wolf and make sure it aint chaining into the melee's/tanks or any other ranged DPS : )

You actually don't have to split on the train boss, neither in mythic. The whole raid simply goes to one side, AoE the adds in an instant, goes to the middle, wait for the train on the outer line to come and then the adds on the other side will be kicked to the middle, where the whole raid stands. Just for information, if some raids have problem dealing with the demanded AoE-DPS at the split.

You said that you can't use a third hand of guldan because it only stacks to two. You can use a third hand of guldan, to keep the 2 stack rolling for another dot duration, using 3 hand of guldans in a row like that is more optimal than using separate 2 stacks broken a part.

Ryan McAuley All else being equal, using 3 hand of guldans to keep the 2 stack rolling for another duration would do more damage than 2 hand of guldans and a chaos wave, the main reasons people chaos wave is to snapshot procs or if adds are going to die quickly. Most procs in the BRF tier are only 10 seconds and there are a lot of fights with adds that die very quickly, which is why you chaos wave and do tons of damage. In your opener you often throw out a chaos wave instead of a third hand of guldan, but that is to snap shot procs and because you don't want to pop out of meta because you need to apply doom and start soul firing and there is a CD for going back into meta.

Skyler Miller They're strong in current gear, and they'll keep scaling. When you look at the item levels of the new raid (795 IL for the legendary ring, man...), the nerfs might hit them on 6.2 release, but by the time people are kitting out in Hellfire Citidel gear I think Demonology will scale back into a competitive level.

Camps2630 Just because one spec is getting nerfed, doesn't mean the whole class is dead. Destro is already being used by many warlocks in raids and it's getting buffed along with affliction

harvest life (and maybe glyph of drain life) can give your drain life almost as good filler dmg as shadow bolt would do also with the some healing if you need to help the healers and maybe even with the life taps you're gonna do. Don't know why you said harvest life isn't worth even bothering

+atomikvenum you can click the grimoire and then drag your selected demon onto your action bar to make it easier. I basically just use the doomguard so i have 2 doomguard buttons, one for my permanent minion and one for the grimoire of service. Easy peasy :)

I never liked Demonbolt. It always left a bad taste in my mouth to lose Meta so fast as well as actually having to use Life Tap since you're using mana and not Demonic Fury to cast Soul Fire.

All three specs, affects Cataclysm and things like that, mounts effects, but for Demo specificly your meta will be green, same with soulfire and immolation aura etc. There used to be a bug with green demo form, meta had some horrible model bugs but they've been resolved in WoD, so hence the question, in MoP it was understandable since it was just insanely wacky.

touch of chaos is really bad, you shouldn’t use it really under any circumstance, if you don’t have molten core proc, you shouldn’t be in meta and if you got to max fury with no stacks of molten core... you fucked up. Also remember that your doom guard does 20% more damage on targets below 20% hp, therefore save your grimore for the execute phase

demo becomes really pet centric in 6.2 new set lets us buff demon damage by 25% 4 set summons extra demons but all the rest of our damage = wetnoodles i think the new design is shit and honestly it opposes the idea they dont change class mechanics mid X pack. Im really gona miss 6.1 demo it was hard but really rewarding and interesting.

A lot of this guide has already become obsolete, and I hate it. (been playing since 2007 with ever longer breaks since mid 2014) My excuses beforehand for the following long rant, I just had to get this off my chest ;) Every time I've been away for a while I had to relearn more of my class, which in turn causes me to go away, again, and for an even longer period I pre-ordered WoD but still haven't set a foot in it yet because I had to relearn a lvl 90 char, as if I boosted a class I hardly knew Legion has already rolled out, and I haven't even played WoD because of the exaggerated changes to the class I understand the need for balancing and tweaking abilities, I have no problem with that, but Blizz might consider new specs aor classes (or why not have for ex., 48 abilities available to a class but only be allowed to learn any 24 you want, increase the number of spells, the variation in talents and spell interactions IF one chooses to increase the difficulty and hence increase their power and complexity of their char, why should all chars of equal lvl be equally strong? Those who play better right now are also stronger than other players that are the same level, so what? IF someone wants to become more effective at their game-play, they can, just don't make it look that way by clipping off our wings with every damn expansion, it's not expanding the game(play)', its more a sneaky way to force feed us a new game, THEIR game Leave it up to the players to choose between "simple" or "subtle", instead of constantly changing the rules If I want to play a different class (read game) I create one (read buy one), don't shove a new class (game mechanic) with an old name down my throat tyvm My Vanilla Lock is a mere memory, as good as nothing of the class has survived Phasing in another class/spec is not the same as expanding it, do we even have any say in developing our play-style and become great at it? I already hear people say, "yea but that would get boring, auto pressing the same old rotation" true, true, but I like "boring" and so do many other casual players I used to play WoW with They've all as good as quit playing WoW and most have moved on to other games, as have I If it weren't for the enormous amounts of time and money poured into WoW I wouldn't even have written this rant ;\, but those chars we all developed over the course of years are OURS, not Blizzard's, even though they'd differ about that with us, but WE put in our effort and time and money More classes aor specs will provide real variation, variation all players can choose from, we're living in an average of 8 GB to 16 GB RAM and >3.0 GHz Quad core CPU's era, while Blizz only upgrades the graphics, thAt IS imba So, I've had my little rant ;P
