Also if anyone watching is pregnant and in Scotland - you get a free stretchy wrap in your baby box! You get it around 35/36 weeks so don't worry about buying one! I really like the baby box one we still use it at 6 months 😅 (teeny premie, if she was average size that would prob break my back)

I definitely feel like a Moses basket should be on everyone’s list. There’s a reason versions of it have been around for thousands of years, you know?

I've no intention on having a baby any time soon, but I love watching your videos! Been following you for years and you educated teenage me on reusable period products (thank you!!). I love seeing you as a solo ace parent thriving 🏳️‍🌈

I have no intention of having kids soon, but as a person with a disability and wheelchair user partially raised Montessori, these are really interesting videos for me. I am always thinking about how to make caring for an infant as easy on my body as possible and when they get older, encourage communication and independence to make life smoother for both of us. This actually answers several questions I had, so thank you.

I am quite late to reply, but are you aware of Jessica Kellgren-Fozard's channel? She is a gay mom with chronic illness and multiple different disabilities, and she and her wife are raising a little toddler with Montessori principles. Her content gave me a lot of confidence in raising my own kids someday as I am myself disabled. Definitely check her out if you haven't already!

I don’t agree that the boppy is only for breastfeeding mums it can be used for many more things than breast feeding. Assisting baby when learning to sit up, protect them from hurting themselves if they fall back while sitting, can be used for tummy time when they are newborn to help them strengthen their necks

We got our moses basket second hand (bought a new mattress) because the price of them was a lot higher than I expected and I didn't want to waste if baby never used it. Our daughter was premie and her next to me was just too big for her so we used that moses basket every day in the beginning! Also absolutely recommend going to a pram center and asking if you can test the pram you want in your car. We got the most ridiculously sized pram, and we thought our car was big enough for it but just the "legs" takes up our whole boot because we can't stand them upright. So annoying!

Im 35, single, no kids, don't plan on kids at all... But I really love watching your videos Bryony! I dunno what it is, you just seem to really help distract me from my awful anxiety, plus it is actually interesting to hear information like this, just cos I'm never going to learn stuff like this any other way, and i don't have a particular need to learn these things lol, but I do find it interesting too! You give factual, concise and helpful advice and info too which is just so satisfying to watch ha! Also I've been subbed to you for several years now...! It's amazing to see how much you've grown and achieved and how far you've come in life. Just thought I'd add this lil comment cos why not eh. Glad you enjoyed your Norwegian cruise! ❤

Also if will be using busses with a pushchair, get one that you can easily fold so that you can fold it if the wheelchair space is needed by a wheelchair user.

The boppy is great for just letting them rest on it on the floor or bed too. Also, tummy time... put their tummy on the pillow and arms just over the edge. It's great for so many things besides nursing too!

Years ago with my first baby (24yrs ago) I was gifted a cradle & Moses basket. I LOVED the cradle for the few weeks. If baby fussed or anything I could easily reach over & rock them gently. It's not something I think is used much anymore but I really liked it. And my granddaughter used it last year when she was born. I bought my daughter a backpack diaper bag taht also had a built in bed. We have LOVED it!

I think cradles are used less nowadays, simply because bassinets function the same way. You can get a bassinet that rocks and has so many features now (like vibration and bouncing, self rocking, sound machines, some have hoods for use in other rooms, etc) for far cheaper than you can get a safe cradle. Plus the bassinets that they have now swivel, can be lowered and even slightly lean on one side to make it easier for mothers that had a cesarean, easy for parents to change diapers in, can often be used as side sleepers, are often more portable/lighter weight, etc. That said, I still love cradles and think they look beautiful in just about every room lol.

So cool to hear other people's experiences! I have an 8-month-old, and we also have the flexi bath, but we love it! However, our bathroom has a little handheld showerhead (like every bathroom in Finland does), and we fill the tub with that, so it's really convenient. I can definitely see that it would be hard to use if you had to move the tub after it's full! A friend recommended the flexi bath to me, she has three kids and they have been using it even when the kids are over three years old, so I would imagine it would still come in handy for you later, like you said ☺

Currently wearing my 6 week old in a wrap carrier. I'm so glad he loves it because there would be no way I could get stuff done with a toddler and a newborn.

Funny how I live in an urban environment with a medium sized car... and ended up not getting a compact pushchair, and so happy with this choice! We got a uppababy Cruz which is geat to go shopping on foot and for walks in the park (just next door) When he was small we went shopping with a carrier or pram structure + carseat. and now insteand of a compact we have a likki tryke, and he loves it (folds even smaller than a compact, and nice upright poition, plus he is more active than in a push chair)
@aquarysa1791
@aquarysa1791 Жыл бұрын
Oh and just so you know having a baby carseat that swivels on the base is absolutely a waste of money :/ you can swivel a regular one too... just un clip it, turn and voilà! 😁 it's only kind of useful for the next carseat stage but the standalone seat is often more expensive than their all in one swivel models (with same features) so no savings there. and if your child ends up being a upper centiles you are now "locked in" an ecosystem where there will be no long term use seats for them... and should reinvest in a long lasting rear facing seat anyways. (not even touching in cybex custommer support)

Just had my second baby and am definitely done having kids, but I still love these videos! So interesting to see what other babies like. My kids hated their swings and loved bouncers. Love the idea of getting second hand things to see what your baby likes before really investing.

That’s so funny about the cybex infant carrier, I’ve always thought it’s potentially a bit of an overpriced gimmick! Have you considered extended rear-facing seats for when he’s a bit bigger? They tend to be fixed seats but you said you didn’t hugely mind that :) what did you tend to do for your fosters, did the LA have rules?

With the bottle maker, could you not add cooled boiled water to it instead of tap water? If you're filling it ahead of time, you could just add the cooled boiled water when you'd use tap water.

Wow, I am literally the worst consumer of baby products lol. - I have a cot that turns into a crib and then a toddler floor bed - car seat/stroller that's interchangeable - highchair that becomes a regular adult chair - muslin (of course) - reusable diapers and wipes - White noise machine - regular bath (plastic monstrosity ) And that's it.

Question about the white noise machine (if anyone knows)...does it only play one sound at a time or are you able to mix/layer sounds on it...for example have ocean waves and a lullaby sound playing together? I've looked at that brand but was unclear about that function

it's so funny how different all the babies are 😂 my girl hated slings too, but she loved the bouncy chair SO much that we had to take it away for her own safety, she was headbanging a little too hard when she got a bit bigger 🤣

obvs can't speak for Bryony, but in my experience they were pretty overpriced. beautiful quality but kinda unnecessary, like bougie parent level. your kid will probably just choose a toilet roll and a tupperware container to play with, over their "developmentally appropriate" handcrafted toys 😜

@@cal59281 I love mine but was just wondering on opinions. I think of it as Christmas and birthdays spread across the year. And separately the items often cost more than £80. But totally understand them not being everyone’s cup of tea.

I really wanted to like the Moses basket, but my girl wouldn’t want to be put down the first weeks and by the time she did it felt more appropriate to go for a regular crib directly. I also feel that the baby gym is quite overrated, my baby was not interested in it at all (maybe she will soon). I also feel like the night lamps with white noise machines are pointless if you already have a light that you can dim. I had Philips hue lamps in the bedroom already before I got pregnant, so now I only set a new “scene” with the lowest level specifically for putting my baby to sleep and changing a nappy at night. And Spotify is full of white noise playlists so an old smartphone you no longer use should suffice. I have a 3 month old and I would not survive without: Sling - my baby didn’t accept pacifiers and the sling was the only thing that could calm her down at times and gave me some time to do stuff around the house Pilates ball - same as sling, helped a lot to calm her down and was a great tool for introducing tummy time Skip hop nappy bag - big enough to fit everything I need but small enough to not feel bulky Baby nest - I really didn’t want to need one, but it did help to get the baby get used to being in a stroller. However, I bought a super fancy one with detachable sides which I thought would be nice for breastfeeding, but nope - it was tricky to get a small boob on the right height to reach the baby’a mouth and tricky to zip up without waking the baby in case she fell asleep while breastfeeding. I do use the side as a pillow though.

I like watching your video. However, working in health, I can not mention the prep machine. One of the reasons why these are not recommended is because the small amount of hot water is not enough to kill bacteria, which may be in formula powder, which obviously is not sterile. Wishing you and Oryn well, looking forward to more videos 😊
