Machining a Trophy that was hand sculpted in clay, and cast in bronze. We start by 3D Scanning (Einscan HX) the bronze casting and walking through the machining process. (Fusion 360) (Haas TM 2p) In a job shop, you never have everything you need, but we can figure it out most times.

Only we under stand. The "Farting sound" during the tool change finally stopped the tool changing. Got a new solenoid, but I'm dragging my feet on installing it.

Nice production quality and interesting machining video. What really brings it together is the large Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle on your milling machine.

The prodigy son returns! Nice video. Also that trunnion is made to run in the Y direction like you have it in the video.

Thanks! Yeah.. It really shouldn't be in a TM-2p in any orientation. : ) I'm shocked it hasn't damaged the ways. The service Tech from Haas gave me the disclaimer when he wired it up in this machine.

I liked that you mixed 3D scanning, kinda modeling and CNC. Another interesting way of doing things would be to CNC a foam model, make a plaster mould and cast it

As an exercise, this was interesting, for sure- but there are several bronze foundries in Chattanooga, and this being a small, relatively simple part to mold and cast, was machining in any way cost competitive?

Hey Man, we thought about that, but this allowed for a very unique look and an overall cool project. We had the 9 Foot tall Statue cast in Bronze that is in front of the Westin Hotel downtown. We couldn't fit it in the machine.

13:43 Why not create a program. That's very simple. That just goes through rotation motions? To verify your orientations are correct...

I like the video. But may I ask where you got the music from? I use this kind of music for work often from KZbin, but i don't know where to get it from on the internet. Btw. it would also look very cool in golden, i could imagine or copper, where you can see the details better.

@@ChipMonkeysthank you a lo t :-) I love to listen to such music for deep focus work like CAD or so 🙂 btw. isn't it funny - in their times when they made it, they tried not to have all the holes in it, and now we want exact these stiles with holes in it :-)

@@ChipMonkeysbtw - may i ask which scanner model do you use and how happy you are with it and if yo arent so happy with it - which model would you wished to have instead? I tried several ones, but i wasnt happy with mine so far. Maybe the price range was too low 🙂

@@tamgaming9861 Hey, we love this scanner. We are in the middle of a reverse engineering project and the scanner is really proving priceless. It's the Einscan HX. We are using the Blue Laser option and getting some great scans. For mechanical parts, Blue Laser is the way to go.

Did you have to convert your mesh scan to a solid in order to pick geometry?
@ChipMonkeys
@ChipMonkeys 2 ай бұрын
Good question! It was machined as a mesh. That’s why we used the Rotary operation and other 3D ops. Fusion is one of the few CAM softwares that will put tool path on a mesh.
@ChuckAndArbor
@ChuckAndArbor 2 ай бұрын
@@ChipMonkeys So you would only be able to use 3D ops and not 2D with tool orientation?
@ChipMonkeys
@ChipMonkeys 2 ай бұрын
@@ChuckAndArbor With a mesh, there is no features to select. The mesh is just a body. So, you can only use 3D ops at different orientations and sketch boundaries.
