In this video, you will see how modern factories precision-cut complicated wood joints for pre-planned home construction. Traditionally Japanese architects would cut wood joints by hand, which was a very painstaking process that required a lot of time and skill. Today, factories like this one can produce enough pre-cut lumber for 3,000 homes annually. When the lumber arrives at the construction site, carpenters can read the printed letter and number on each piece of wood, which tells them exactly where it goes. It is very similar to putting together a giant wood puzzle and it makes the construction process extremely efficient.
