Hey, this is off the topic of this video, but I wanted to tell about an experiment I’m conducting. I have 10k rounds of Wolf Match Extra from the same lot. I pulled my barrel out and removed the shims. Placed the barrel back in the action. I loaded a spent cartridge from my lot. I took a feeler gauge and measured the gap between the action and the shoulder on the barrel, I replaced the shims minus.001”. It shoots better groups. My guess is that I’m at .037-.038 on my headspace now. It really doesn’t like Remington or Lapua now. Doesn’t matter, I’ll just shoot the Wolf until I’m out. You know how long it takes to change headspace. It’s not permanent. If this works the rifle could be optimized for any lot of ammo. Later
@PursuitofAccuracy3 жыл бұрын
@@jimmccaffery410 I do the same thing. I lot test and see what is shooting the best, order it, then adjust headspace to get it better if i can. I would only suggest it to people with adjustable headspace barrels as i would hate for someone to damage their rifle shimming a bolt. Good work brother.
@jimmccaffery4103 жыл бұрын
@@PursuitofAccuracy I have a Lilja barrel also. I paid $50 to have the barrel threaded when I bought it. I put a muzzle brake on it. That eliminated the flyers. I think it was a coincidence that I ended up with a brake that worked. The next thing is to check that the front of the action is flat and square to the barrel so the shims are mated to both the barrel and action, not just on a high spot.

Impressive shooting. That said, if you really want to compare the rifles for their "base" performance, it would be interesting to see you shoot them for bullseye with 4 shot groups on paper at 50, 100 & 150 on a bench rest so that the pure rifle performance is measured (rather than the shooter's skills -- and your skills are quite impressive!).

My issue is that you are dropping large sums on these rifles. For Joe average how does the Tikka T1x compare to the CZ 457 (both of which I own) without dropping a couple grand into the guns. With the CZ I did change to a Jard trigger so it is lighter than my Tikka which breaks at 1 lb. 6 oz. from the factory (adjusted only)?

@@eford7 in my opinion the cz cant be beat for a factory rifle. The t1x is pretty comparable but when and if you decide to upgrade it the cz is wide open on aftermarket accessories

@@PursuitofAccuracy Thank you for the reply. I really like both the CZ and the Tikka. I also have a new model Browning T Bolt (heavy barrel) - very accurate but strictly marginal trigger out of the box. Jard makes a really great trigger for it (10oz. pull).
