This scene always gave a good idea of what the Yautjas are, since it looks warm inside, that would imply they come from a warm planet and prefer to hunt in warm environments most of the time. And the skulls obviously gave the idea that they've hunted all kinds of species. I use to think that this ship was the same one from the opening of the first film. Since it looks like it's been underground for a long time. And the Jungle Hunter being in Val Verde for a long time that all gives the idea the Yautjas have been on earth for years. However I did find out from Predator trivia that the two main predators in the first two films come from different hunting parties. Especially the Italian pirate story which led to "Greyback" getting the flintlock pistol. Anyway still a great scene from an underrated movie.

I have heard that in novelization, other Predators weren't happy with this City Predator. He broke their code by losing his mask and equipment, and also killed too many people. So when City Predator came running back and led Harrigan back to their ship, they probably told him to go back and face Harrigan again otherwise he might had been killed right there.

The Xenomorph are very well known to the Yautja and have been hunted by many, and are considered one of the most esteemed trophies because of their extreme nature. Maybe Predator 2 didn't have a well-built storyline as the first Predator, but it sure did had some cool horror elements and a damn good soundtrack, with the brazilian drums and the horns and everything. And in comparison, The Predator didn't have any of this: cartoon-like soundtracks, rubbish synopsis and storyline, no gore and thrills along the movie, lines that are written 'on the run'. The first two, and even Predators, are movies that can be taken seriously, can be believed in some matter.

Here are what I think are the identities of the three human skulls: 1. King Willie (of course) the one without the spinal chord attached in the middle that gets a close up. We know that this was his because of the scene where the City Hunter sets the skull on the wall after the fight. This might be a goof, but Tony Pope (the reporter) stated that King Willie’s spinal chord was also missing when they found his body, however only his skull is hung (unlike the other two which have spinal chords still attached). 2. The skull on the far end (to the right of King Willie’s) is Jerry Lambert’s. The first piece of evidence that this is his is the fact that the spine is still attached, just as it was when the City Hunter tore it out of Jerry’s body. Jerry’s bones are also supposed to be bloodier than the other bones. In multiple diorama sets of the trophy room, the skull on the far right is covered in blood, which is how Jerry’s was when the Predator took it. This “bloody” skull in the dioramas is in the same place as the one I’m talking about now in the movies is. 3. The final human trophy (to the left of King Willie’s with the spinal chord) is probably either Danny Boy’s (the LAPD detective) or Ramon Vega’s (the leader of the Colombian tribe, rivals to the Jamaicans). I’d probably say that it was Danny’s because he was actually killed by the City Hunter, while Ramon was killed by the Jamaican Tribe in the apartment. The Predator usually mounts the skulls of opponents whom he fought/encountered and found to be tough.

I'd like to point out that for the 3rd trophy, it could be the leader of the Jamaican voodoo posse that killed Ramon Vega. 1) When Harrigan's team arrives at the scene, they find not only Ramon's body (not skinned) hanging but 5 other bodies (skinned) hanging. Originally, 6 of that Jamaican crew went there.

As inconsistent as this second movie was this was the most insightful scene in the entire franchise. It hinted at lore with the alien skull, showed history of predators on earth and other hunts they’ve done on other planets. It was so ahead of it’s time. If the plot of the movie wasn’t about cops hunting predators with silly sequences like the apartment chase scenes then it’d be a more memorable movie.
@gunshotlagoon9225 ай бұрын
If the story were up to me I'd have local cops and special agents teaming up to track down the mystery killer but butt heads over whether to kill him or not. Unfortunately all of the characters, gang members included, were just drawn so ridiculously cartoony it took away from the Predator mystique. The apartment scene should've never been in the movie.

Here’s something I don’t think anyone has considered yet. That Trophy wall has a bunch of clearly predatory skulls arranged on it, most recognisable being the Xenomorph at the second from the right. I’m not as well versed in the lore of the Predator films so I can’t identify the others, I’ll leave that to a true Lore Wizard in the replies, but just at a glance, they are all likely highly Dangerous creatures, and large, the one on the far left is large enough to stretch from floor to ceiling, AND THAT’S THE SKULL! How big was the rest of that damm thing. Consider all that… and now consider that there are also THREE Human Skulls on this Trophy wall as well. We all know that the Yautja are no slouches when it comes to the hunt, and the Xenomorph is a near perfect predatory species. So the fact that the Yautja mount THREE Human Skulls alongside these creatures… that’s gotta say something about how they view Humans… I’d almost call it… Respect.

Dream logic in this scene: the spacecraft is underground. How could it have gotten there? When it leaves, it leaves a gaping hole behind, so it must have been built over after it landed (in fact it would have to be to avoid being detected). Had it been there for decades or even centuries? I think this scene is all the more fascinating because of this. I doubt that the writers even noticed the implications, but it's interesting to note how subterranean themes often play out in alien visitation stories. Alien abduction accounts often speak of the subject travelling underground to something that might pass for a ship; other accounts speak of "falling into" the eyes of a Grey, or of descending to the depths of the earth, while also travelling into space. This theme of descending yet ascending may suggest an archetypal theme that is embedded in our subconscious and informs our dreams and visions. Many religions also feature underground netherworlds, and the alien ship's interior is itself rather cavernous and hell-like (complete with demonic beings). Notably, the Predator dies in this scene, so it's like he's being returned to the netherworld, which is the ship itself, while the cop has to descend in order to be enlightened about the true nature of his enemy.

@@Jaden_The_Celestial Yes. According to the Thomas Brothers, Stan Winston, and Kevin Peter Hall the City Hunter is a younger Predator on a hunt to prove himself among his clan/tribe. @maxx89gabytzu The opening shot does not indicate the ship is coming at all. The opening shot, is a pan up from what looks intially like the jungle, to another kind of jungle. (Which is the core conceit of the second film. We're out of the jungle and into the URBAN jungle.) The Predator ship was there for quite some time. Keyes tells us they've been tracking CH for weeks, learning his patterns. I'd assume the ship has been there all season. Incidentally, just a bit of trivia, the original ending for Predator 2 had City Hunter mortally wounded, and the rest of the clan appeared. The Elder Predator would then cut off CH's head for dishonoring the group by leading the prey to their ship.
