Predator 4000 Generator | Carb and Fuel Issues

After buying a Predator 4000 generator from online marketplace, I started digging in and trying to find out what all was wrong..starting with the incomplete carburetor.

I bought the older version of this generator last week. Nothing was coming through the valve initially... after blowing compressed air through it I got flow and it fired but didn’t run. I bought what looks like the same kit and a replacement valve from Amazon. It looks like your gasket placement was off; I did swap out the black piece as well and used the new plug. The generator fired on the first pull and ran fine in my case.

Run AVGAS 91 octane. There’s no ethanol and this gas is stable for a couple of years. Yes, it’s $4.50 a gallon, but you will save yourself many headaches.

Lead serves as a cylinder lubricant. Running leaded fuel in a generator, lawnmower (Small engines) etc is fine. Running leaded fuel in a modern car is where you have to be concerned. It will foul catalytic converters, sensors. It’s you don’t want to run unleaded fuel in an engine designed for leaded fuel. Thanks

Is your throttle body spring hooked up? Since it wanted to run turn throttle body off choke to run if it runs check your throttle body linkage and your governor you may of forgotten to hook those wires up.

Ya probably figured it out but as Bob N said. The gasket you put between that plate and the card with the small bumps it in it goes between the filter box and the carb. She will start in a second after that..

So, your carb video is cool, helped alot. My generator keeps shutting down though. I hear like a clink, like something sounds like its flying around right before it dies.Any idea what hell I am about to face?

I start mine up and it keeps cutting out. I think I need to clean the gunk out of the fuel shut-off just like you had done.

Most likely a dirty carb needle. It may not be letting enough fuel into the float bowl.

Did you hook the throttle lever and dampener spring back up? Can’t beat about $12.50 for the carb on Amazon.

Yeah. Going to look more into it today. Make sure that I have good fuel flow going into the carb.

This is the second video I've watched of yours and you keep shutting off the fuel valve. The valve part is in the tube that runs up to the tank. The fuel flows when the valve handle is aligned with that tube. Not the tube and fuel line with the filter in it.

Engine ran well. The generator part was bad. A person had similar generator with a bad motor and bought this.

Do you have the parte number of the Fuel Valve?

I do not any longer have that information. If you can find your engine number and do a search, information like that will usually come up.

got the wrong gasket between the engine and carb. switch the two gaskets around.
