Predator 2 had a lot of cool ideas, yet 95% of them were executed so poorly. On top of that, it feels like they tried to place two different films into one. Beyond that the most of the effects are really bad, even the a lot of the practical doesn’t look good. Definitely an idea I would love to be rebooted. Predator in the city can work if it’s simplified and executed correctly.

I saw Predator 2 in the theater first showing, opening day. They had the most awesome scene that was completely cut out when it released on video. The Predator goes in and kills the junkie drug crew one by one and shows it. It was amazing. The release on home video, cut the whole thing. The cops go in and they are just dead. Man, I wish they'd bring that scene back. It made the entire movie that much more awesome. But Predator 2 still rocks

Never understood the hate for Predator 2. Yes it might be cheesy at times and very 90s, but it did what a good sequel should do, it continued the themes of the first one while expanding on the lore..not to mention the awesome design of the new Predator and the clever setting of the "concrete jungle".

I just saw Predator 2 just now. That movie was trash. It didn't feel like a Predator movie until the last 20 or 30 mins. Everything else before that was boring. Also, too many camera cutaways

Amazing 1. Predator (1987) - The cast was amazing and believable coming from someone who use to be in military. Arnold was very iconic here 2. Prey (2022) - Thoroughly enjoyed movie from start to finish. Loved how primitive the Predator was here and the strategy involved. Acting was great. Decent 3. Predator 2 (1990) - A watchable movie. Not the best written but the human actors are pretty good and did the best they could. Medicore 4. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) - Movie was too dark. Couldn't barley see anything. At least the acting wasn't bad. And we did see some narly kills. 5. Alien vs Predator (2004) - Didn't like Predator teaming up with human. Felt unnatural and didn't care about the humans either. Some cool fights though. Bad 6. Predators (2010) - The main character's voice sounds like Batman and it is was cheesy. The fights scenes were meh. Only a few scenes I thought were good. 7. The Predator (2018) - Cool kills but bad acting. Felt like I was watching the power rangers. This is mine personally. Just got done binging.

I’ve grown to like Predator 2 but I feel like the city setting and the cop story line were a bit underwhelming and some special effects don’t hold up very well compared to the others but the Predator stuff was very cool and Danny Glover was great in the movie but it’s just my personal preference

The new movie was fun as hell. The cinematography, the score, and the action scenes were top notch. Some of the effects, like the bear and the lion scene were bad, but other than that everything was great. I'm surprised this wasn't in theaters.

I was very skeptical about this movie. But having seen it, I am pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. And I agree, best scenes in the franchise of the Predator kicking ass! That was some badass shit! The first movie will always be king but this was a very worthy entry in the franchise. Now let’s keep the momentum going and get some other well made films taking place in different historical periods.

I feel that, really the only overly disappointing thing for me, is that the predator in Prey did not collect any human trophies. It collected trophies and savored the hunt with other kills it did but never with the humans which seemed almost anti-climatic whenever the predator won a battle. SPOILER ALERT!!!! I feel like the death of her brother would have hit a lot harder, if the predator spine ripped him and collected his skull for a trophy.

Agree. I love the new movie, it was just missing certain types of kills that made the hunt feel so impactful. I would have loved a scene where the Comanche warriors are scalping their enemies while the Predator is cloaked and watching. Then the warriors come across the hung and skinned victims of the Predator, and others with their skulls and spines ripped out. Can you imagine the Comanche’s reaction to such brutality???

Without seeing Prey yet, I love Predator 2! I have no issues with it. Whenever I watch Predator I always follow it up with Predator 2. I enjoyed Predators the first couple times I saw it, but it had diminishing returns in enjoyment with each viewing.

I agree with your order here for the most part. I would put Predator 2 as #3. My only problem with Prey is I thought Amber Midthunder looked too physically soft to be in that type of high action. I agree the CGI could’ve been better, but I didn’t find it bad enough to distract me. Aside from those two points, it was a solid runner up to the original. Nothing tops the original Predator. That one will always remained undefeated!

I really loved seeing precursors to predator technology in prey. It makes perfect sense that the plasma caster as we know it hadn't been invented yet, and the targeted dart launcher is sick as hell and works perfectly as a precursor to the plasma caster.

My interpretation was that the Predator in Prey was sent with inferior weaponry to better match what its quarry might have for the sake of an honorable hunt - if the Yautja have the FTL travel needed to reach Earth, a plasma caster isn’t a far-fetched weapon! But either way, the match of Predator and “Prey” technologies made for a terrific film. Cheers!

A metal head that advertises a skin cream and claims that the gore in avp requiem was too much when one of the most iconic metal bands of all time is cannibal corpse. Those two things felt as much out of place as the ridiculous placing of The Predator in last place.

Prey : what was amazing is how the movie cleverly shows the Girl expanding her skills iteratively from a forager to an immature hunter who gets her a%% handed to her initially with the lion and bear to this incredibly AGILE huntress who realizes from her recent past experiences that going toe-to-toe with this entity is fatal - and she takes her smaller size and agility to outwit it - the best part is - this journey to her becoming a bada%% is believable!! each of her skills we see her train with are used in the actual final fight - something most movies miss for the sake of an initial oomph to forgetting to use these later. Prey does all this so elegantly.

You are indeed correct in saying that Prey does not have any connections or easter eggs connecting it to the original Predator (1987). However, the French pistol that Naru receives in the final act of Prey (and is zoomed in on in the final scene) is actually the same pistol that the Predators give Danny Glover on their ship at the end of Predator 2.

Prey managed to do something I never felt possible, it came close to matching the first Preditor movie, in fact it came very close to being my absolute favourite of the entire series. It kind of showed that even the predators either evolved to better technology or they actually do there homework and take tech to make the hunt a bit more even.

7. The Predator - Obviously... 6. AVP: Requiem - The Wolf Predator and Predalien were badass. Everyone else has given every reason why this movie is garbage. 5: AVP - I have pure nostalgia with this movie, so I personally can't help but enjoy it, despite it's obvious flaws. 4: Predators - 10 year old me was a huge fan of this movie, and I still think it holds up, though it's weak in some spots, I do have a good time with it, the Predator on Predator fight being one of my favorite moments. 3: Prey - I was praying that this movie would deliver, then got more and more excited when the early reviews came out, and I'm pretty satisfied. There are things I wish were done better, but I think it's a worthy addition to the series. 2. Predator 2 - This movie's far up in the ranking due to pure nostalgia. I know it's not great, but I really have a good time with it. 1. Predator

I agree with taking AVP 2 over “The Predator” AVP is bad but The Wolf Predator made it some what fun. It’s still awful but I can’t think of anything redeemable about The Predator.

Totally agree with you except I'm still torn between Predators and Prey taking the second spot. I'm aware that Prey is a better film just as film in general and Predators is basically just fan service but I still find it more entertaining, even if it is just a gimmick. I still need time to digest Prey (so to speak)

I would put the original AVP right behind the original Predator (in the Alien franchise I put it right behind Alien and Aliens). I genuinely think it's one of the best action movies of the century so far, maybe even the best that I've seen. Yeah the gore isn't there, but I think it fits because it's going more for action than horror. I think it has some of the best use of CGI in action (which really surprised me when I rewatched it), and some of the best use of slow-mo as well (also really surprised me). I love Sanaa Lathan as the lead, really liked all the characters despite them not being the most complex characters. The setting is great, I know a lot of people complain that it takes place on Earth, but having it set in Antarctica still allows it to feel foreign/science fictional to a degree. And the pacing is on another level. Possibly the fastest hour and 40 minutes I've ever experienced. I get why a lot of people shit on it, but I will always defend it as a masterpiece of action.

Nothing will ever top the master piece that John McTiernan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Peter Hall released 35 years ago in 1987. Predator in my top 3 movies. It's my favourite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. For the very reasons you have said. Him being in the movie doesn't overshadow anything. Prey does reference a couple of things. Using 2 of Dutch's lines "If it bleeds we can kill it" and "Come on do it". It has an Easter egg with the pistol that Danny Glover got at the end of Predator 2.

Predator 2 wasn’t bad. Personally, I think the movie would have been so much better as a detective movie with a darker tone and 7even vibes. Danny Glover would have done so much better in that style than an action hero. It just didn’t work for me.

I'd probably put Predators and Prey ahead of Predator 2, but P2 is a bit underrated in my opinion. Has some great characters (Bill Paxton and Gary Busey are standouts) and some brutal action sequences. You can tell that it was influenced by films like Robocop just as much as the original Predator.

great list, so true about Dutch having to go "full primal" to fight the predator, it was awesome to see him transform into that pure jungle hunter. everyone talks about the predator roar, but my favorite part of that movie is hands down the Arnold roar before the battle. just awesome.

For me the ranking is: 7: The Predator 6: AVP: Requiem 5: AVP 4: Predators 3: Prey 2: Predator 2 1: Predator That being said, 7-5 are what I consider to be absolutely horrible, 4 and 3 are meh, 2 is good, and 1 is the best. Controversial, but I don’t think AVP was a good concept at all. Both franchises should really only have had one standalone film each.

As a nerdy film buff lady who has been watching these films since they first came out, I would be happy to watch Prey, Predator, and Predator 2 in a loop and be happy with that. Predator is obviously a perfect action film and anyone has seen Prey doesn’t need to be told again why it’s so great. But I think the reason P2 is higher on my list because I actually felt a lot more for the characters, the casting was fantastic, and it was darkly funny. Arnold was a perfect 80s/early 90s action star that could never have been topped for pure physicality and toughness- and even though Dutch used his brains to defeat the Predator, he still relied a lot on his physical strength to get through the ordeal. However, much like Bruce Willis in “Die Hard”, Danny Glover is way more relatable as an older, slower, cynical cop who’s only a few years away from retiring. Bill Paxton’s wise cracking comedy relief against ball busting Maria Conchita Alonzo, a Latina with agency (vs a helpless bystander of the first film) is classic, and the fearless Ruben Blades is still kicking ass in FTWD today- IMO one of the best characters in the series. In Predator, it was entertaining when you saw the characters die in a blaze of glory, in P2, I really didn’t want them to die. Also hello Gary Busey - exposition and death scenes - epic. P2 world building points further to Predators having an honor code (not killing a pregnant person and allowing Danny Glover to live with a token of their respect, vs the first Predator killing itself and trying to kill Arnold after it was defeated could be interpreted as being a bit of a sore loser without further context) and hints at AVP- but I think those films showed that’s better inferred than shown, I’d love to be proven wrong - and the other two Predator films were fine but feel derivative and I forgot about their specifics shortly afterward. A Prey/Predator/Predator2 trilogy’s first two films are pure action/horror perfection followed with a dose of action/dark comedy- I mean what could be funnier than that old lady creeping up to the Predatpr in the bathroom with a broom?!

Now that I just saw Prey last night I can give my ranking of the franchise now. While people are going to wonder why I have Predator 2 so low is not because it's a bad film just honestly it's one that has the highest rewatch value for me. If I binge the franchise I can still enjoy it. 1. Predator 2. Prey 3. Predators 4. AVP 5. AVP Requiem 6. Predator 2 7. The Predator.
