That's the problem with the Predator franchise, after 2 all the movies have just been homages than actual Predator movies. They need a director like Denis Villeneuve. Just imagine a Predator movie in the style of SICARIO. Instead we just get rehashes of the first one and HACKS like Shane Black who needs to stay the fuck FAR away from Predator, EVER! These movies are just fan service who act like they're afraid to get deep into the Predator lore or in the case of THE PREDATOR just make up shit and disregard the lore altogether. Kinda makes you wonder why FOX got bought out. They can't even respect their own franchises, so why should we as fans respect them?

The fight between a predator and the yakuza guy who never talks could have been better too. I love that they used sound effects and Alan Silvestri's score from the first one.

I tried to give this movie a chance several times, but it just didn't work. I'd put it right with AVP Requiem as being very low time waster of a film with some decent gore and effects. Btw Mike, Kiramid Head's newest episode of Screenplay Archaeology was about original script for this by Robert Rodriguez, and personally, i felt the same way about that script like i do about the film. Solid idea but it could and should have been better.

Even Adrien Brody felt he was the wrong choice, which shows. Some people think its the best Predator movie even better than original because they felt the original battle was short and not much....yeah its not over the top action but there are so many unforgettable moments in that film including that scene just like the original Obi Wan vs Darth Vader.

Jw Nj I guess that's the future of the Predator franchise (if there is one after that other shitstorm). No more casting actors who are bonifide action heroes, guys who look like they could take on a predator. Nope, we get a bunch of soyboys and beta males. Some exec at FOX probly thought if they gave them some military gear and guns they'd look badass(I'm talking about THE PREDATOR btw). But Predators actually had some badass characters but the execution was a failure. That's filmmaking in the 2010s in a nutshell, BAD writing.

These predators were bad bloods. Essentially, these predators had discarded honor and only hunted for the thrill of the kill, not for honor or the challenge. This is why the tactics of the predators in this movie may seem strange or out of character

OcpCommunications true, but the actions of the predators heavily imply it. Noland acknowledges this race of predators as different and the tactics the preds employ are very underhanded and unhonorable, besides Falconer.

I saw it in theatres in Century Theatres 20 in Milpitas back in 2010. I used to like it at first, but looking back at it now, it doesn't hold up very well. Despite going back to it's R-rated roots, it was not as good as the first 2 films. In recent years, I'm starting to like Predator 2 more than Predators.

As a huge fan of the Predator ‘franchise’ (I hate that word) I really enjoy Predators,I don’t understand the hate at all. Of course it’s not on a par with the first one - nothing ever will be,but it absolutely stands on its own as a self contained and very solid movie that respects and builds upon the Predator lore and though it generally mimics the beats from the first film it completely does it’s own thing.In fact I liked almost everything about it including the cast,especially Adrien Brody who I thought made an excellent protagonist. Honestly after repeated viewings it’s my second favourite one equal with the second.

It seemed like the writers and directors got the Predator lore a little bit but they tried to hard to be bold and it failed. It's a simple concept, but you gotta have more creative writers. Don't just copy & paste the original, that's lazy.

I thought it was all right compared to alien vs predator, but it crossed the like from homage to ripoff and practically feels like a rake of the original. It's nice to see a bit more different predator stuff like the dogs and how there's even more vicious predators than the ones we've seen, uh at least it wasn't all pg? I saw this movie for the first time a few weeks ago when I bought the trilogy blu ray steelbook, and I was hoping it would be good because the steel book looks nice, but unfortunately while I thought it did some good things, it just had too many problems. The concept of "super predators" was a huge mistake and cheapened the predators from the two previous movies. While John Debney's score wasnt bad you wonder why they couldnt wait for Alan Silvestri to become available. And you are right that they really did not take advantage at all of the alien planet concept. If you are going to film most of this on a set anyway, why not make it look exotic? Did they not even think about approaching the original writers? Why did FOX trust Robert Rodriguez more than the original writers?

i can see that the real shitty 2018 predator is next i wasn't impressed by the 2010 but i didn't hate it either it just is not anywhere as impressive or masterful as the first 2 PREDATOR films 1987 & 1990 now this is WAY better than 2018 ultra garbage and the sniper Lady was a underrated good character

Agree completely about Adrien Brody, he does his best, and he's obviously a very good actor, but this role didn't work. I reckon casting someone like Clive Owen in the role of Royce would have been way better (look at Children Of Men or Inside Man, he can do gritty action). I didn't hate Predators, it was just meh. I like it A HELL of a lot more after seeing the Shane Slack, oops I mean Black abortion The Predator, came close to walking out of that, the only reason I stayed is 1. because it cost a sh*tload to see it in IMAX and 2. because I wanted to see how much more ludicrous it was gonna get, it got real ridiculous real quick. It was horrible.

Shane black tried to remake monster squad which he wrote but with predators instead of monsters and they made him refilm most of the movie and it's still awful. It just makes Predators that much better compared to this The predator reboot/sequel Requel

Social media likes are destroying everything that was good. If it's trending online they'll make it. From Charlie's Angels/Ghostbusters/Terminator..I can keep going... All these feminized reboot/sequels = Requels need to stop. It's literally making bad movies that came out 10-15yrs ago actually good. Only thing I'm glad about is marvel got movie rights back to X-Men & Fantastic 4. X2 and Wolverine II were only x movies I liked...age of apoc and days of Future were a waste..couldve been better. Seeing how Avengers 1-3 turned out Xmen produced by Marvel Studios will actually look better and now they can throw cameos from other marvel films to spice up movie. Can't wait

This movie did nothing for me. The concept is really cool, and there were a few interesting ideas and scenes, but the film never utilized them to their full potential, and I didn't care much for most of the characters. Speaking of which, can Topher Grace just go away please?? I'm sure he's a great actor in other media, but between the plot twist with his character here, and his role as discount Venom in Spider-Man 3, I cannot take him seriously. Overall, Predators could, and should, have been great, but it wasn't. Even my brother, who is a massive Predator fan, didn't like it. Still better than the 2018 film.

I never minded the movie. Yeah it's a somewhat boring movie, I think it's repetitive during the last act of the Original but done badly. I'm not a big fan of the Original either, Predator 2 is ok, not that great but decent. I really liked the 2018 Predator film more, I liked the action. some the humor was there for me. But I don't think it deserves that hate it gets. It went a different route and to me it did it decently. I respect others opinions.
