In 1987’s “Predator,” Shane Black played Hawkins, the first person in the movie to be killed. Now he’s the director of the latest sequel, called “The Predator,” and his new film suffers the same fate as his old character: It dies - quickly. The movie is a nonstop gore fest. (How many times do we need to see a man sliced in half and his innards cascade to the ground?) But that’s not what leaves you reaching for the Pepto-Bismol. More sickening is the repugnant humor. Racially offensive quips, flagrant sexism and Tourette syndrome gags all contribute to this witless, scare-free junk. In a particularly stupid move, one character describes the predator’s look as “an alien Whoopi Goldberg.” When a research team discovers that a new Predator has some human DNA, a biologist named Casey (Olivia Munn) says, “You want to know if somebody f - - ked an alien?” This isn’t bottom-of-the-barrel material, it’s bottom of the landfill.

People keep hyping up Shane Black like he's some quality filmmaker. He's NOT! He makes violent buddy comedies, that's it. I think Mauler said it best on his rant on this movie. But Mike and Matt(Ramboraph) have some pretty solid rants on this as well. I'm SO glad I didn't pay money in the theaters for this shit. The Predator franchise is officially dead right next to the Alien franchise. How ironic.

Great review/rant mike. totally agree with everything. Personally i also think that Thomas Jane would have made a more believable lead as either a scientist or military guy. Hes a great actor who could have carried a predator movie as a lead if it had a good script i think.

Given everyone of the so-called "mercenaries" just cracked bad jokes and you couldn't wait for the Predator to kill them off quick enough. Great job with rant Mike! I liked the film but i have to agree with lot of the points you mentioned. I don't like that in order to enjoy Predator film i have to look at it as dumb fun, but i guess having that in mind did helped a lot when watching this film. Ever since i read that original script i knew that the movie wasn't going to be anything spectacular or that it will revive the franchise, so i only hoped that it will at least be a solid if not decent action sci-fi horror, and that's what i got. I'd watch it over Predators and AVP films, but that doesn't mean i would defend all of its problems. This movie needed a massive re-write if it was going to work for everyone, which is what i'm sure Fox had in mind, and yet, like you said they agreed on the script they did get, and then end up having to change the shit out of the film after seeing reactions from test screening audience, only to fuck it up even more in the end. You'd think that big studio like that would know better, but then again, it is 20th Century Fuck Faces so... And fuck that Predator Killer bullshit, i have friends who really liked that ending but i hated it more than anything else in the film, no wonder really since it was added by studio themselves.

Among other things It's like it's too much of a good thing isn't it? I mean just thing back to when there was only one original predator movie and how magic and mysterious it was about the warrior and how he had such awe and pathos when he finally appeared and took off his mask, now we've gotta have twenty predators, giant monster predators! I mean it's cool to see but so fucking what, it's also too much, it's like a rainbow piñata splattering in every taken and making your teeth fall out because it's too much candy? Lol anyways all I'm saying is, is that to me It worked best in that first film and that second film when there was just one, and there was a mystery element there.. Anyway great rant, good to see your passion on the subject and I agree they need to just pack it in and leave this franchise alone for good.

Just watching Rain Man for the first time, it’s very good. Dustin Hoffman is amazing in it, and so is Cruise, in a different way, they had a special chemistry together, I love the scene where he teaches Raymond to dance lol very sweet. The soundtrack is a little strange to me but it certainly fits, it’s friggin scary to me how it’s over thirty years old now, Jesus! I’d say this on Facebook but you know.. ☺️
