Wish I had a Geo Ripper when I had to trench for power for my detached shop. Needed to go 2 ft down, by hand and with a broken foot! Good times! Question: is that a flat roof or metal on the client's house? Not much pitch. And why a cone on Stella? Hope she's ok
@BYOTools4 жыл бұрын
Ouch! That is some tough work for sure. The client has a pitched roof, just not supper steep. And Stella is just fine. She got fixed so it was to make sure she wasn’t scratching. She already has it off :) thanks for the continued support Dz! Always appreciate it.

Would the plastic sheathing create a water/mold issue? I figured some heave landscaping fabric would be more applicable, but I'm just an idiot trying to figure this out.

Great video, could you tell me the cost of the crane to install? Thank you
@BYOTools4 жыл бұрын
It was NOT cheap haha. If we where able to have the crane closer to the drop site it would have only been around $2k. However, because we needed such a large crane to lift it over the house we had to spend over $5k for the crane we used. Thanks for watching Mike and hope you subscribed.

This is awesome, and your narration of the key moments really helps the understanding! I was wondering, was it by chance that the 2x10s under the auxbox were located in such a way that won't interfere with the concrete footings? Like when you changed from the original 3 footings to 4 on that side I suppose there was a risk that the supporting 2x10s landed exactly on those. Wonder what you would have to do at that point to safely place it down

I need to question why your support blocks were not centered on the 16"x16" cement slab blocks. I was taught that this was not the way to place support footings.
@BYOTools4 жыл бұрын
Good question Stan and yes in a perfect world the pier block would be perfectly centered on the 16"x16" slab block. However, there are many factors that go into something like this when trying to aline it properly. The slab blocks still provide the same purpose, to more evenly distribute the load to the earth. But in my opinion it is more important to place the pier blocks exactly where I want them vs. having them centered perfectly on the slab block. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching no matter what and hope you enjoyed the video.

How did the electrician get the wiring into the empty tube and pull it all the way through to the box?

They basically just used an electrical snake that they run through the tub first and they attached the electrical wire to it. Very easy to pull through after that. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the video.

Aux box outrageously expensive. Starting at 28k for 100 sqft. That's $280 per sq foot for a basic shack with no plumbing, no electrical, etc. It's a joke.

What is the benefit of purchasing something like this over building it yourself? Assuming you could build it yourself.
@BYOTools4 жыл бұрын
Not everyone is confident and skilled enough to build a structure like this obviously. If you have the money and want to save your own time then buying a unit like this is great but if money is the only factor your looking at then I would suggest building it yourself. Thanks for asking Goose.

That grass near the fence will become problematic. You should have removed it. Also, might you not want to give yourself a LITTLE bit more access to the fence? They tend to eventually need replacing. I presume you want to leave the new building (which is how you should think of it) intact, right?

So, few issues here. I’m not sure that foundation is really adequate, and ya probably should’ve removed the grass along the edges too since nobody is gonna fit back there to mow or trim it, not that it’s gonna get more than a few minutes of sun depending on the directions but I’d hate to see those sides overgrown given how nice the rest of your lawn looks.
