Totally agree and appreciate your comments about trying ‘naturally’. I even have PCOS (weight controlled) and after almost a year and a half of trying my doctor even said I don’t need to exercise or eat a certain way because in all honesty it probably wouldn’t make a difference. If you’re generally healthy, if it was going to happen naturally it would have happened within the first year (ish). I feel so bad for women who feel pressured to conceive naturally, spending all their money on supplements that pretty much do nothing, torturing themselves with super strict diets and exercising in ways that don’t feel good to their body and who still don’t conceive, sometimes for years, and the whole time their eggs are aging, which isn’t helping the process either. It’s ok to get help. At the end of the day your baby is going to be as natural as a baby conceived in a bedroom as opposed to a doctor’s office.

One thing to consider is the impact of showing a child publicly on the internet and social media will have on them in the future. As they can’t yet decide whether they want their baby photos and videos out for the whole world to see it can impact their sense of autonomy and privacy as they grow up to have those out there. A lot of vloggers strike the balance by showing their baby on camera but not it’s face😊

Loved this! I’m 21 weeks along and I didn’t really let myself become fully excited or even think about actually bringing a baby home until around 14-16 weeks. Just now starting to think about the nursery and taking it step by step! Much more connected to baby now that I can feel then moving everyday ❤

I wish I had known that the first trimester is the worst. I was more ready for the adverse effects on my body. The emotional part of things caught me off guard. I was so tired, nauseous, and anxious. Because of this, I felt very sad. Thankfully, as I felt better, it went away. I say this because I never really heard anyone else express quite what I was feeling. On the one hand, I felt so grateful to be pregnant, but on the other, I felt so sad and scared. I am so happy for you both and will keep you in my prayers :)

I didn't realise how expensive IVF was in the states. In the UK if you're not a smoker, have no children and have a BMI of below 30 you can get IVF on the NHS and if you go private it's £5000 and above x

Hi Rachel - I think it’s normal to not feel connected to your baby, especially early on. I’m 32 weeks and it still feels a bit unreal. I started feeling more connected to my baby after she started moving around a ton (maybe midway through 2nd trimester) and after I had my baby shower.

After last month I gave up trying to conceive my last baby. I gave it to God. And I found out I was pregnant at literally 3wks. I had no symptoms didn't think I was pregnant I was just in the habit of taking tests every month and so I just took one to take one knowing it was gonna be pregnant after ttc for a while and it came out positive. I was in such a state of shock I took 13 more tests. All positive. I've never got a positive so early. I was like 6 or 7dpo. It was crazy. And so many congratulations to your new bundle.

During my birth, my midwife came in to take vitals and check on me during labor only every 30 minutes (until the pushing phase). My doula was with me the whole time and much more hands on with pain management / walking me through each contraction.

I struggled with infertility and didn't feel connected to my baby until after she was born and it had been several weeks. I definitely felt that maternal instinct that I need to care for and protect her after she was born, but not that overwhelming love feeling. I think it being my first child, it mostly just felt surreal during the pregnancy and adjusting to my changing body. Also- a doula is more of a birth coach/advocate and a midwife is a medically licensed professional who helps delivers babies. Different from an OB because a midwife doesn’t have the same approach because they are usually a more natural/holistic professional and cannot perform surgery like an OB can

Mother of 3 here. Just had my third in November. I didn't feel connected with my first until she was actually born. It didn't feel real until she arrived and I could hold her in my arms. For my other two.... I forced myself not to connect until they were born because I experienced two losses in between and I didn't want to get my hopes up until they were here safely. I don't think there is a straight answer for this. Everyone is different!

A doula is a support person for you in labor, whereas a midwife is a medical provider and would be another option in place of a OBGYN. Doulas cannot deliver babies or give medical advice/assessment, but are a really wonderful addition to your birth team for help with labor support.

I started feeling connected to the baby a little bit when I had a bump. But it was more excited of the idea of a baby I didn’t ever really feel super super connected to the baby in my womb. And until he was born. I was obviously super super excited, but my baby didn’t move a whole lot so I only ever felt small little kicks. So if you don’t ever feel super super connected to the baby in your womb, don’t worry about it because you will get that connection when your baby is in your arms. That’s really when I felt the connection. And even that some moms take a few days or so to feel that connection because it’s so strange, and your body feels so strange, during birth, and after birth.

The difference between a midwife and doula is that a midwife would be your care provider like an OB, and they will “deliver” your baby. You can use a midwife for a home birth or in hospital, they are really great and some people choose to have a midwife and OB but I’m not sure how that works in the US. (There’s also different kinds of midwives) A doula is someone who’s with you during your whole labor ideally and focuses on you and helping you achieve the kind of birth you want. They’re more of a physical and emotional support vs a midwife though some midwives also act a little like a doula on top of their midwife role.

For me, the perfect birth plan was not having a plan 😂 like you said, setting low expectations so no outcome is upsetting. my “plan” was to get baby here while keeping me and her safe, whether that was a medicated birth, a spontaneous birth with no time to even think about an epidural or a csection. that way there’s no disappointment if something does different than “planned” because the only plan was a safe labor and delivery.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to share your babies as other people think. I followed a creator for years. She got pregnant. Spoke about it once, then carried on. Everyone sent everything they could have ever needed or wanted for their unborn child. She showed the whole nursery decorated by her following. She that the baby over a year and a half ago. Talked one time about the birth experience and that’s it! No one has seen the child nor does she ever talk about him. That is creepy! I know she says the baby can’t say he wants to be on camera! Come on, common sense knows a baby can’t speak. I get it to a point, not wanting to show your child. But her following including me was so excited and then for over a year and half she doesn’t speak of her child. I unsubscribed because when I asked after a Year, have you ever updated about your baby? Or have you ever said your babies name? I got blasted and told it was none of my business. I’m not a creepy internet person, I’m a mom and a grandma. We were all invested in her and her husband’s lives, just as we are with you. I personally follow the lives of other content creators such as Michelle, Cassie, and Renee among others who have a different content channel but then get pregnant and are excited and we come along. Ultimately it is you and AJ’s life as to whether you share your child or not, but I have already read comments not to do it. Anyway I’m happy and excited. I hope we get to see your child one day, know her name and enjoy your continued journey. I truly felt hurt when this other person wouldn’t even share the name. Idk maybe I am the creepy one. That's your point of view as a viewer. It's normal for people to be curious about baby's name etc. However, there are a lot of things to consider, such as safety of this child. It's creating great opportunities for some perverts, it's easier to gain child's trust when someone is calling them by their name, for example, especially when someone is sharing in parallel where they live. Photo's of children posted on internet end up in dark web. I am glad that this topic has become popular recently. I respect that content creators are less eager to overshare about their children and such decision is not coming from them being mean and selfish, but from the impact that it can have on their children. I think it's important to make a well thought decision and it's up to every parent and we, as viewers, need to respect that. I recommend materials about this topic on The Financial Diet 😊

They have really great gifts etc. I know you should never expect anything back then the gifts should not be taken if you aren’t willing even to share that you actually had the baby. I’m a grandmother of 3 grandsons and I understand. No one should share their locations either. I’m not saying the creator was selfish. If that was a part she wasn’t willing to share then nothing should have been brought up and there should not be links to buy the whole nursery. Just my opinion also.
