***** How? 1. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to turn to a parent, or their partner for financial or emotional support when they are in a situation like this. 2. Not everyone can afford a higher education. 3. And most of all, not everyone (especially pregnant women because of their maternal state) have access to a better paying job when they do not possess a college degree. It is one thing to disagree with someone's choice. I however, find Tyra's actions extremely distasteful because she is actively trying to humiliate someone on national television who was forced to make a choice in order to survive. She was in the unfortunate position where if she wanted to make a substantial income to support herself and her unborn child, this was the only option readily available to her. She made it clear that her family did not support her, nor did the father of the child, and that she could not make enough money at her previous job to pay for all the expenses. Tyra chose to put her on the spot to level her own morality, rather than taking this opportunity to foster a sense of understanding that not all of us get the same chances in life.

I want to Thank everyone for their love. My life update is; I am married an amazing man and I finished college and a technical degree and work very hard. I would NOT change the path I took. As I'm older now I make better choices and have learned from the path I walked. Tyra was very hurtful. She honestly did a little damage to me at the time. I felt like the world was against me. All I wanted was to share my story, maybe someone could of learned something even if it was one woman who was about to make a choice she couldn't change.

I am so sorry she was so judgemental to you, something struck a chord with her and she was trying to get everyone to side with her and make you a victim. You were a victim of something horrible, lack of a social support system... It was really intense and sad to watch her completely dismiss that. Tyra is privileged and has always had a supportive mom and people by her side...she wouldn't understand what it means to be living paycheck to paycheck especially while pregnant. And you made such a GOOD POINT when you said that nobody hired a pregnant woman; this is true. They wouldn't hire you knowing you will pop out a baby. Prostitution or escorting isn't ideal, but if it is your choice and something you want to do that is different. You did what you could to try to raise more money in a short period of time....and that is brave no matter what. I'm sorry she was so judgemental. She didn't come from a place of compassion when she called you a disappointment. Something really evil was going on when she said that. I'm sorry you had to endure the ridicule and I'm really happy you are unable. Better place now.

She was falling behind on bills, getting a job as a cashier/McDonald's etc..was just going to earn a minimum wage. A woman who has no money cannot expect to pay her bills and have leftover money for her baby. Like she said, she needed immediate money to get herself back on her feet. I don't blame her. She's going to be a great mother. She doesn't ALWAYS have sex with guys, she said some times the guys just want to help her out, watch tv, talk, just give her money. She has a roof, electricity, people who care for her (kind of), she's safe. She has the power to deny whatever she wants, so ultimately - everything is up to her. Tyra, the more and more I watch your episodes (I've been on a Tyra show spree lately), the more I realize that you are really judgmental. She already has a family that turned her back on her - the least you could do is HELP her out of this situation instead of belittling her.

Tyra sounded very judgemental throughout this whole show. Yes, what she does may seem unorthodox but, as a mother she has to provide for her child. Tyra isn't helping the situation by attempting her to feel worse. If Tyra felt some type of way, why doesn't she try and buy something for her. A woman without an entire family support, fair enough, working in a brothel doesn't seem 'decent' or correct option, but some people have to go through things to get to great things. Do not judge anyone, especially when circumstances can alter for any and everyone. Tyra does need to shut the fuck up. Not everyone will be America's next top model.

Both of you and others, learn facts before speaking. Back then, the way of living was just as challenging as today, racism much more pronounced back then, for the media kept it hidden. Now the media is bringing it out to the open. Proverty back in the day did not include the technology of today. There was no googling, nor hot spots, internet was dial up and mostly only upper class families had access to it. Landing a good decent paying jobs were based sadly on your race, 9 times out of 10. There's more headway now. Most were only "allowed" to make so much money per hour. These were hard working people, not like the selfish, it's all-about-me folks that feel so entitled to have your own home, cellphone, uppercut vehicle, for free or at very little to you, when in fact you haven't even earned the right to say even "BOO!" There has been a new uprise in street drugs taking off, hitting every street corner just about, urban AND suburban (though hidden), the economy was bad then as now. All I'm saying is to think before speaking. Real Simple, Real Talk, Learn by Listening!

She chose to have me. She chose to love me unconditionally and if I'm kind to her and respect her like she does for me then she will offer me all the help she can give. That's how a family should always be. Unconditional love.
@janelleallen10819 жыл бұрын
You are right. Family is supposed to be there for, help out, and support one another but that's not how it is in every family. For example, there is a lot of drama in my family, news carrying, and people talking behind each other's back. If you fall on your face in my family, you'll have to go through a lot of people before you get the help you need. That's how it is. My family isn't close. The people who said it's her problem, it's not her family's responsibility is right but a family is supposed to be there for one another. The word family in some families is just a title.

So yes, being a prostitute is not what you would call respectable. I understand that Tyra was trying to make Alana understand that she was making a wrong decision, but she was being downright rude at some points and just making her feel bad more than determined to turn herself around. Like when she called her a disappointment. And all that talk about it not being her only choice was good, but she didn't give her any more options. She wasn't like, "prostitution is not the way to go. You should be doing this instead." She was saying that Alana was compeletely wrong and dumb for considering this lifestyle.

+indiesistah01 I agree. I usually love Tyra but this rubbed me the wrong way. It was all about shaming her and making her the "example" of what not to do. She offered no words of encouragement and just criticized. Lastly I know she always allowed the public to have an opinion but to let them comment on that and put that pregnant woman under more stress was just in bad taste to me. But this is just my opinion.

+lenwan1 and you are just as arrogant and stuck up as Tyra. And out of these "THOUSANDS of jobs", Tyra did not help her get ONE of them. Instead she shamed the poor girl. If anything, the family should be to blame for not guiding the poor woman to the right path . And who knows??? Maybe perhaps this woman never had the knowledge to do better. Maybe her family didn't teach her. Seems to me like they just left her to struggle . How did Tyra help this besides throw her back on the hard ground????? Tyra has the money to buy everyone in that building a place to stay. Tyra used to get with guys and sleep around with them for their money herself. She's not too far from this woman herself.

If I had to prostitute to support my child, I would. I would do ANYTHING for my child. A minimum wage job...fuck, even two minimum wage jobs do not support rent, bills, a car, baby clothes, baby food, baby toys, baby furniture, etc. etc. etc. I am 15 weeks & 2 days pregnant, but I luckily have an amazing baby daddy/boyfriend who happens to do very well. i love tyra and all, but i felt like she was attacking the girl, i dont respect prostituting for the money alone, but i do however respect the fact that she went out of her comfort zone so that she can provide for her child when the days comes, to feel her child, to comfort her child and to love that child more than she loves herself
@thesubjectofstars10 жыл бұрын
how is she endangering her child? no one is there for her. she had no money. she couldn't get a job. her baby's father is not helping to provide. if she chose legal prostitution, so what? she's making fast money, she's going to be able to provide for her child, she CHOSE this to PROTECT her baby. her baby is in no danger. the owner of the bunny ranch said at the beginning that it's all about being SAFE and having fun. unless you think the head of a man's penis is somehow going to endanger the baby in the womb. i expected more from tyra. there were people in the audience who were like "get a job." it's hard to get a well-paying job as a woman period, let alone as a six-months-pregnant woman. she probably would have had to, as she said, work at a fast food joint (if she even got a job), and that does not pay the bills that were piling up. her car was going to get repo'd. she would need that to GET to work. getting a job before pregnancy and keeping it during is easier than having no job and then applying while pregnant. no one is understanding this woman. rather, they judge her for being a prostitute. and honestly, harshly judging a woman for having sex in this society is nothing new.
@2write2sing2dance9 жыл бұрын
Tyra is very ignorant. As much as I worry for the well being of her and her unborn child, I see that (as someone who doesn't have a college/uni degree, an extensive work history, any family support, and is pregnant - making it harder to secure a job) her options to make the money she needed were veryyyy slim. Its as if Tyra brought her on to wag her finger at 'this baby' (who looks like a grown woman in a tough spot) and not help her at all. Its really ridiculous. Tyra, unsurprisingly, has no answer for what else she could have done to come up with the money. Oprah has done controversial shows like this, but she had better questions and more humanity in her address. Probably because Oprah was a Journalist and is talented at actually asking the right questions and respecting people as much as she can. No wonder this show was cancelled. My goodness.

the main focus should have been on the man who put that child in her. he should have been the one taking the heat. he got to sit on the stage just to agree with tyra that it disgusts him and then go back and sit in the audience while they picked her apart some more. In the grand scheme of your life, 17 years old is still a baby. It's incredibly young. And this girl does NOT seen to know what she is getting herself into. These teenagers want babies when they are still in high school, no education, no opportunities for a decent wage to afford a child. It is a childish way to go about having a child. Oh and working as a prostitute isn't just about the sex. Like when they were talking about the 30yr old virgin I liked the girls theory. When you're a prostitute the men don't just want to have sex and leave. A lot of them come for company and to feel close to people and have the 'girlfriend' experience and feel loved and be touched. I managed a strip club for 10 years (I'm female and all of the management were, too, so the girls didn't have to deal with male managers who notoriously take advantage of dancers) and one of the most successful girls that worked there was a pregnant girl named Susie. She started working long before she became pregnant, but once she was, her popularity skyrocketed. Some guys definitely loved the pregnancy aspect, or had lactation fetishes or large breast,. But I also noticed that she took on a different aura as she got increasingly bigger. She was really confident and comfortable with the way she looked (I mean, you can't hide anything when you are 8 months pregnant) and I think men picked up on that. She had some strange guys, for sure, but they all had their share. She had plenty of guys who would come in and pay for her time to rub her back or her feet. Some guys were put off and would give her whatever she wanted to make for her shift so she could leave early because they didn't feel right seeing a pregnant woman working. Either way, for her, it was a win/win situation.

I think it’s always not good to judge others. We all have our weak moments

So sweet how the brothel owners took her in with an open heart

She knew how much money she could make with a pregnant woman. Consider all the fetishists she was talking about who sought her out specifically. She hasn't had less work because of pregnancy, but probably more than many of the other girls. Im just saying the Madame's interests are more mercenary than you think. She saw this vulnerable woman as a big payday.

Yea it was because they new she would be a cash machine but also they do keep them safe a roof over there heads support and also he didn't have to give her the baby shower I think he actually care about her and felt for her situation....at least she was able to go there when she had nowhere else to go and make quick 💰 yea it's not the most ideal way but her family seemed to basicly drive her to do that or get an abortion....her child will know she was wanted her mom provided for her in the situation she had to and that she's loved....can't say much for her dad or sperm donor.....and as for the grandparents I'd cut them out of my life n lose total contact with them....they left there baby out high and dry with no f!@ks given....least she has her sister to help her...

I feel like a woman's body is a temple and it should be worshiped and respected by all means. I don't agree with prostitution, but I don't know of any company willing to hire someone for a short period of time (unless it's a summer position), PLUS it will probably be a small amount of money. How would she able to provide for her child and keep a roof over it's head at the same time? Shame on her family, and shame on Tyra for basically making her look horrible to the entire world. If she felt so sorry for her, she should've done something to help her instead of talking down on her. Do I think it was a good decision? No, but she had to do what she had to for her child.
