Well maybe the woman that said to the supermarket is unemployed. I sure as heck will be when I'm that pregnant, but I also am privileged to have that choice. But the black lady is on her fourth pregnancy, so likely even someone with a decent family salary would still have to work when pregnant if you're having that many kids.

35 weeks pregnant. I bought a roll of 4" wide elastic from amazon and altered 3 older pair of jeans into maternity jeans for about $15. they fit better than maternity pants I bought for $20/pair too.

Kate F I think this is a great idea idea but I find the jeans with belly bands a lot more comfortable for me personally. My baby hangs low and my pelvis has gotten so much bigger that jeans with the elastic bands on just the sides feel more restrictive around my pelvis, but mainly in the 3rd trimester. 1st-2nd trimester was fine and I’d alter with elastic bands if I needed to in the future!

I don’t understand why some people think it’s okay to degrade the first time mom’s opinions, simply because she doesn’t have other kids. She is not any less of a mom or less pregnant than the other mom. If she doesn’t want scratchy jeans, fine, if she doesn’t want the shirt that made them both look huge, fine.

I’m 32 weeks pregnant right now but I’m also a hijabi who’s pregnant in the summer. Best thing you can do that’s cost efficient is go to a discount store like TJ Max or Ross and buy flowy slightly oversized sundresses/maxi dresses that way it’s inexpensive, breezy so you don’t get hot, and you don’t have to layer more than a simple light cardigan for modesty.

I buy secondhand maternity. I bought 3 new shirts from Burlington Coat Factory for the sake of photos but they were like $5 anyway. Pregnancy doesn't last so long that I feel the need to splurge but I understand especially with first kids that moms to be may wanna look extra nice. I was a little disappointed that two of the cheaper options were from Burlington coat factory since that store is only located in the States - Old Navy and Walmart have some cheaper options for maternity clothing as well (although where I live both of those stores only sell maternity options online. I got a most of my maternity clothes from Thyme Maternity on sale (only located in Canada but they do ship to the U.S.) for less than $20 a piece (my swimsuit from there cost maybe $10). I was big on price, comfort, and durability for my maternity clothes - I looked for clothes I could wear it while I was pregnant and after as well and I still wear most of my maternity wear now despite not being currently pregnant.

I really really loved expensive pregnancy pants, i got an expensive pair on clerance and two cheap jeans and i NEVER wore the cheap ones because they were so ugly and uncomfortable, i wore the clearance expensive ones daily to the point that Once I had my baby, they were coming apart :( I wish they had better quality pregnancy jeans for a better price.

Got maternity pants for my first pregnancy, bit realized I would never wear them again. The second time around I just got loose shirts, sometimes a size above my usual one, so I can still wear them afterwards. Pair it with pants or jeans with an hair elastic to hold the button when you just start showing, then go to leggings, jeggings and dresses. Maternity clothing is a pointless money pit.

...if the pants and belly band are too tight then they are probably wearing too small a size...I grew out of some of my maternity jeans as I hit 3rd trimester. 1 size maternity jeans may not fit you through the entire pregnancy, your jean size can change and that’s OK and normal ladies ;)

Those $141 jeans didn't even have a hem! I know it's the style, but it just made them look messy and unfinished. Also the girl who was 5'1 in the cheaper penpulam top, I felt it was too wide on her and made her look more pregnant than she was.
