Many times parents overestimate what a child truly understands. The ONLY way we know that a child is comprehending is by paying attention to how he responds when we talk to him. If a toddler does not complete verbal requests by 18 months, chances are, he has a receptive language delay. Dear Laura,I cannot thank you enough for these informations.I am a mum of 28 months old, and I never gave my child any directions.I did everything for her and now I expect her to follow my directions and I am distressed that my child does not understand.She would definitely not do what I haven't taught her or showed her.Thank you for all these informations.I have already started implementing your ideas.
