Let me explain this. India had a series of migrations. The original inhabitants on the subcontinent were Austro-melanesian, negroid and mongoloids (depending on which part of the subcontinent). They were the hunter-gatherers. The first mass wave of immigration was from the Persian Gulf 10,000 years ago - Neolithic Iranian farmers (Caucasoid population), who spoke Dravidian languages. They mixed with the natives. This became known as ASI (Ancestral South Indians). 4000 years ago, Indo-Aryans came from Central Asia and northern Iran (another Caucasoid population). They mixed with the existing ASI people. The resulting population became known as ANI (Ancestral North Indians). EVERY person from the subcontinent is a mixture of ASI and ANI. Meaning EVERY Desi is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent. Northwest Indians have a higher percentage of ANI for obvious reasons. Subsequent invasions came from Persians, Arabs, Greeks (including Macedonians), Scythians, Turks, Mughals/Mongolians,..but their influence on genetics was minimal or non-existent. Later came some colonial forces - British, Portuguese, French, Dutch. The British had a significant influence on genetics, as one of their aim was to dilute the Indian race and turn it into Anglo-Indian. Those who lived married lives were known as Anglo-Indians. As for those who got raped - well, tough life! Punjab was a strong-hold for the British, and given that they had to pass through a lot of farms to get from place to place and a lot of those farmers were Jatts, what do you think happened to the Jatt women??? Of course they got raped. That's where the British genes for Jatts come from. Not from Scythians.

Great video guys!! I'm African American and I have Melanesian ancestry as well. I also have East Africa, which is rare for African Americans. South Asians seem to have Melanesian ancestry also. I think there's a connection here. Ancestry DNA tests don't go back far enough though. They calculate our more recent ancestry. Again, great video!

Interesting to compare my results since I was really confused about the later two percentages but it might be common in people of Indian decent.

There was a migration out of Africa, the first one, that traveled in a crescent up from the horn of Africa to the southern tip of India over to Indochina, down through the Philippines to New Guinea and Australia. The ones that remained in India are probably the ancestors of the people you call Dravidians. The next wave became the people some call Aryans. Whether or not the locus of those people was in India or central Asia is the question at the heart of the Aryan invasion of India debate. If they were centered in India then the Aryans invaded out, not in. To me it's interesting how much the look of humans changed in only 10,000 years or so, between migrations. They seemed to have become horse riders in that time as well.

Bula (Hi in Fijian 🇫🇯) Prem and Jasmine, I'm Fijian and i believe that my ancestors migrated out East Africa thru south Asia tens of 1000s of years ago. I also believe that some of those descents are still in India like the Bonda tribes of Odisha in East India (not the Siddis tho, as they're more recent). Therefore, there would have been some 'cross pollinating' at the time and could be where you guys got the Melanesian portion of your DNA from.🤔

Siblings share 50% of their DNA so one half of your mums DNA you might have received but not your sibling, which they might have the other "half" of your mums DNA same for your dad's. that means that your sibling can have different regions in their DNA obviously nothing is conclusive in DNA but some theories are more likely if you take a close look at history and study some of the links between these places; the british in your DNA is probably from the British Raj. The central Asia is probably from all past close relations and proximity with India. Quite a bit of indians especially from coastal regions of india have Melanesian and/or Polynesian this is because the Melanesians were people that migrated in and around east Asia(China, Japan, Indonesia etc..) and finally settled around the islands near Australia but they happened to have passed through India when migrating and also Madagascar hope that helps clear stuff up a bit

Nope ,wrong the European is NOT from the British scientists have already concluded that the British had little impact on the DNA of the subcontinent ,they never mixed with Indians ..heck ,most brits in uk don't even mix Now ..the British were there to loot ,steal and do their brutal business not to mate with the people .thr euro dns is likely to come from the steppes and is linked to the ancient indo European people ..some jats score very high levels of north east European /Caucasus /central /west Asia DNA this can all be explained by looking at the rich history of the Indus Valley civilisation ..Also,given the north west Indias proximity to west Eurasia it's not surprising ..jats for the most part have components that reflect their ancient info European lineage and cluster closely with several mountain groups of India and Pakistan who two have have a complex genetic history especially given that they were part of the silk route

Following the Aryan migration theory, initially India was colonized by the same group of people who then made the journey all the way to Australia and other Pacific Islands. Then the Aryans from the Caucasus came into the Subcontinent in large numbers. So the more South you go in India, you'll find people with more similar DNA to Pacific Islanders or Aborigines and also more similar skin features.

You would have different ethnicity percentages because your parents make up 200% of "x" (mystery), and you only get 100% of that 200, and that 100 may not be the same for your sister. In fact you can get the exact opposite of each other if you are mixed. Hence some twins where one is white and one is black.

Snow 123 jatts are not central Asians . they are Indians , whose ancestors got fucked by some invading central Asian army . hence , the tiny 4-5% central Asian . Trust me when I say , there are people in the south way more light skinned , with striking Caucasian features that doesn't mean they came from central Asia .
@ALeaud
@ALeaud 7 жыл бұрын
Jatts are a hybrid of Central Asian, the original Aryans (Indo-European peoples) and whoever lived there before that. Most Jatts are not only 4-5% Central Asian. Punjabi Jatts share very little genetically with lower case and South Indians. And no, there are not "way more light skinned" people in the South. There are some light skinned people in the South but not "way more" with "striking Caucasian features". The reason why many South Indians might be light-skinned is to a variety of reasons but it's also related to the fact that they're also part Indo-European. They're just less so than most North Indians.

wayne h 3 days ago you are not correct .the Pallavas (Parthians) ruled all of Southern India and a branch of the Hittites settled on the West Coast of India ,Southern India had strong trade ties with Rome,Greece,Yemen,Oman,and Nabateans en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Kerala quote"In the last centuries BCE the coast became important to the Greeks and Romans for its spices, especially black pepper. The Cheras had trading links with China, West Asia, Egypt, Greece, and the Roman Empire. In foreign-trade circles the region was known as Male or Malabar.[21] Muziris, Berkarai, and Nelcynda were among the principal ports at that time.[22] The value of Rome's annual trade with the region was estimated at around 50,000,000 sesterces;[23] contemporary Sangam literature describes Roman ships coming to Muziris in Kerala, laden with gold to exchange for pepper. One of the earliest western traders to use the monsoon winds to reach Kerala was Eudoxus of Cyzicus, around 118 or 166 BCE, under the patronage of Ptolemy VIII, king of the Hellenistic Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt. Roman establishments in the port cities of the region, such as a temple of Augustus and barracks for garrisoned Roman soldiers, are marked in the Tabula Peutingeriana; the only surviving map of the Roman cursus publicus. wikipedia Merchants from West Asia and Southern Europe established coastal posts and settlements in Kerala. < from same atricle Haplogroup J2a-M410 in India was found to be largely confined to the castes[20] with no occurrence in the tribals, but a new study has found it at higher percentages (10%) among the Tharu indigenous people of Terai, Nepal.[31] In India, the J2 haplogroup is almost absent from tribals. Haplogroup J2b is associated with the Neolithic Greeks that spread agriculture. It has been found in the Dravidian middle classes in high frequencies also in the Northwest of India.The frequency of J2 is higher in South Indian castes (19%) than in North Indian castes (11%) or Pakistan (12%).[20] Haplogroup J was found to be even more common in India's Shia Muslim community, of which 28.7% belong to haplogroup J, with 13.7% in J2a-M410, 10.6% in J1 and 4.4% in J2b.[32] The high variance of J2b2 in South Asia indicates a probable pre-Neolithic migration.(wikipedia) A significant presence of J2 (J2b2+J2a) was detected in western and south-western India (the highest being 21% among Dravidian middle castes, followed by upper castes, 18.6%, and lower castes 14%; Sengupta et al. 2006 J2 is widely believed to be associated with the spread of agriculture from Mesopotamia.[1][9]"The main spread of J2 into the Mediterranean area is thought to have coincided with the expansion of agricultural people's during the Neolithic period."[2] The age of J2 has been estimated as 18,500 +/- 3,500 years ago.[1] Its distribution, centered in Western Asia and Southeastern Europe, its association with the presence of Neolithic archaeological artifacts, such as figurines and painted pottery,[21] and its association with annual precipitation have been interpreted as evidence that J2, and in particular its J2a-M410 subclade belonged to the agricultural innovators who followed the rainfall.[22] However, Di Giacomo stressed the role of post-Neolithic migratory phenomenon, specifically that of the Ancient Greeks, as also being important in the dispersal of Hg J2.[7] Haplogroup J2b on the other hand is associated with the Neolithic Greeks that spread agriculture. It has been found in the Dravidian middle classes in high frequencies also in the Northwest of India.

South Asian ? It's so diverse ethnically and racially, how does one even grade such a vast genetic coding into just South Asian ? My twin brother looks different than what I do and my elder brother looks a bit between my twin and me. My Dad's family has Caucasian looking members as well as Chinese looking ones. My mom's family has most members looking similar to Yemeni or Gulf natives with a heavy splash of tribal Indians. It's that variant.

its alright to have a little European in DNA, as Indo Aryan we are a very ancient mix of native Indians and Europeans. down the the south side you might found little bit African Dna. And East side like Bangladesh, little East Asian DNA.
@hamdoulaa
@hamdoulaa 6 жыл бұрын
no european DNA does not mean indo aryan. Indo aryan DNA is caucasic like Iranians, anatolians, kurds, armenians. Just because someone from northern Indian has 0%caucasic DNA doesnt mean there is no caucasic DNA in the northern indian genepool. Europeans also have 0% caucasic DNA even tho they migrated from there.
