Premier 1 Electronet vs Gallagher Electronet

This spring we started using electronet fencing to graze our sheep and goats. Matt had bought me a Premier1 electronet in the fall for my birthday and I purchased a Gallagher fence as they are newly released. Here are some of my pros and cons to both. I hope this helps any one considering electro net fencing for their farm or homestead! They are great!

Now my goats were great for herding. Every night I "took them for a walk" & where (I) and a goat went they all followed. It was so much fun! I never had to worry about any one of them straying! Also, at night they all went to the barn together. I enjoyed having my goats so much!

Highland Homestead we will now that we have the nets. In previous years we rotated them amongst our other pastures just not as frequently. Now with the nets I can move them everyday:). Thank you for watching!

Does your Premier1 fence have the step in post? Ours don’t and it makes a huge difference on getting into the ground. I was wondering the comparison in the 2 with step in post.

how do you cope with rainy or days? what kind of fencing do you use then?

Think really seriously about using any of these or similar electric mesh fencing. I used these for several years to break feed the new lambs and their mothers and fortunately did not electrify the fence. Have now gotten rid them. Had I electrified them I would have lost many lambs by electrocuting them to death. They play like crazy and get their heads stuck in the mesh and cannot get out. Took me by surprise. They would have died had I not been there to rescue them. Am writing from New Zealand.

The reason they got stuck in it is because you did not electrify it! they are smarter then you think. One little shocks is all MOST animals will tolerate then they respect the fence.

your issue was that you didn't electrify it. they don't stick their heads through if its electrified..

If you got the premier sheep/goat netting, it wouldn’t be as heavy as the poultry netting. That’s an unfair comparison.

Grazed to close to ground leave 4 inches on any livestock. Use hay till you are able to graze or rotate twice a day
