Thanks to Bag-O-Day Crochet, I can read a pattern out of a book. Knowledge is empowering, and she is such a good teacher.

I never wondered before what makes a yarn "anti=pilling" and here is what I learned. Shorter fibers make more pilling probabity. Longer fibers like silk are virtually pill free. So that includes natural fibers as well as man make fibers. There are 3 different chemicals applied to yarn to make it "anti-pilling". Each chemical makes the fibers smoother, but some chemicals work better than others. I would imagine that no matter how chemical is applied, it eventually washes out and you are left with the "naked" yarn. I will be looking this up more. I have been wearing sweaters all my life and, as a young girl, I HATED pilling. I bought my sweaters, not knowing how to knit or crochet at that time. I loved the look of a new sweater, but it didn't last. I had various yarn shavers with batteries to get the pills off and that works for awhile. My thinking is that the better AND LONGER the fiber, the less pilling that will occur. Very interesting video - not what I expected!! Crystal rules!!

Thank you for all you do. I have learned so much since joining your channel 3 yrs ago. You have given me the confidence to try new things and to believe in myself. I don't have anyone at home to encourage me to continue to crochet and that made me doubt myself. You and the friends I made on the YT streets have helped me continue to crochet and try new things. ❤

Thanks for the video. I find sometimes the cheaper yarns are the better yarns. It's a judgement call when you go to buy yarn.
@cherylelinsmith743Ай бұрын
I like the look of the Premier sample, looks neater. When I tried to do the brioche stitch scarf with the Mandala sparkle yarn it looked sloppy, messy. Yarn store owner said to do it in worsted wool yarn but, instead of using size 8 needles to use size 6. It's working out really nicely, and much neater. That's amazing the premier after washing doesn't look as nice, but if it's not washed it still looks neater.
