Ruiz vs Arreola FULL FIGHT: May 1, 2021 | PBC on FOX PPV

(May 1, 2021) Former unified heavyweight world champion Andy “The Destroyer” Ruiz Jr. bounced back from an early knockdown to defeat all-action heavyweight Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola by unanimous decision in the main event of the PBC on FOX PBC PPV event Saturday night from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
The battle between boxing’s two greatest Mexican-American heavyweights in Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) and Arreola (38-7-1, 33 KOs) began with fireworks, as the underdog Arreola landed a powerful overhand right that forced Ruiz to touch the canvas and earned Arreola an early knockdown on the cards. Ruiz was able to recover and survive the second round, taking the knockdown as a wake-up call and prompting him to initiate numerous big exchanges in the third round.
Both men tasted power punches in a raucous third round that saw Arreola land 14 power punches to Ruiz’s 13, according to CompuBox. Ruiz adjusted as the fight went on, and found success scoring with body shots and combinations punctuated by a punishing sweeping left hook.
Ruiz owned a 106 to 75 advantage in power punches landed and built up his lead on the cards by landing 161 of his 626 punches thrown, to Arreola’s 109 landed and 521 thrown. Arreola appeared to hurt his left arm in round eight, but was able to manage any pain enough to continue throwing bombs until the final bell.
Ruiz punctuated his performance with a strong final round, clinching his victory in the WBA Heavyweight Title Eliminator by the scores of 117-110 and 118-109 twice in the eyes of the judges.

This was a very underrated fight... the problem is not pbc doing PPVs... the biggest issue with pbc is the lack of promotion and content to get people excited about the fights... ufc does a REALLY REALLY good job at advertising and putting out lots of content.

I came back to watch this fight again, for like the 3 time. I watch a lot of boxing videos. I though Arreola won the first time, now see Ruiz kept that thermostat rising the whole fight. But what a war, this win is for Ruiz. When Arreola heard the scores he knew what time it was and so did we, boxing is a business.

@@donjohnson3888 I think Manny Robles is underrated as a trainer. Fighters keep leaving him, but you can’t change a fighters very much like Valdez or Andy after they’ve gotten so far. I think Oscar might done better against Shakur with Manny Robles because the Reynosos are too much into tactics. They do much thinking. Manny would’ve told Oscar to rough him up; get physical; let his hands go. Oscar would not have his hands up trying to counter Shakur like Canelo. He was doing nothing. He would throw a single hook or overhand right and Stevenson had something for that ass. By the way, Andy’s 2nd fight with Joshua was Andy’s fault solely. He was touring; probably hanging with the cartel; buying shit; not training; eating; etc.

Arreola completely changed his style for this fight. Instead of just applying the pressure. He was patient, sat back, then allowed Ruiz come to him. Catching him beautifully coming in to send him onto the canvas
