I appreciate the way you presented the simplistic options for delay pedals. Most videos I’ve seen are a waste of time. Thank you.

Got another one: delay in front of your overdrive with rate and mix on full and time at min. It makes for an insane transitional sound
@brianbjur47962 жыл бұрын
Carefully. Some delays will simply self-oscillate without any additional input with repeats and mix on full. Also this is mentioned at 7:00

If you put an analog delay set around 300ms and depth and repeats almost off before a dirt pedal it's instant Ain't Talkin Bout Love (that's a Pete Thorn tip)

Great video. One more technique is delay time short (but not too short), feedback on 99 and play very short and percussive notes or chords. Granular sound! :) Then you can also move the delay time and have fun with oscillation.

7 years later: The quarter notes and dotted eighths combo is a lot like the "halo" setting on the the Keeley Andy Timmons Halo delay pedal. I do like how Peter mixes the two echoes to his tastes though. That's something that's currently unavailable in the Halo.

Ever since Digital Delay Pedals became available, analog [cloudy] delays are defunct in my rig. Just my subjectivity, analog delays are like going backwards. Any way you use them.
@Keithhatesy0u2 жыл бұрын
Kinda missing that most of us desire that grit from analog delays - hell. that's basically the point of a tape echo. Digital will never simulate tape echo properly (thought the new RE-201 gets REALLY close)
@erictripton2 жыл бұрын
@@Keithhatesy0u I never had like an echo plex, but..My Dad had a real to real Teac and could engage so there was echo, on tape, but was crystal clear. I expermented alot as a kid beginner, but never forgot that clear sound. And listening to Live At Leeds; Pete got a super clean sound. I had a Ross analog that was ok, before it hit any distortion, but just sounded muddy like analog do, when doing clean stuff. Once I bought a Boss DD-3 in 1985, I was set. I use a couple Yamaha Magicstomps now, and all patches I use, are digital delays.. I know some guys love analog, I just grew up with a different perspective.... echo must be crystal clear... but thats just me.
@erictripton2 жыл бұрын
@@Keithhatesy0u Just my subjective choice mate, a premium tape echo is clear. Analog has never been my cup of tea.

Suggestion: the Aquarius Delay by Joyo is a cheap delay with all the options you could want, an absolutely killer reverse delay function, and can be found pretty cheap.
